Thanks Diff for another lesson in South African forest engineering. I'm proud to say that your are my humble neighbor building some awesome Rat Rods. Take care boet.
Hey neighbor! You need to come visit one day.
I've done this for 45 years and i know an excellant fabricator when i see one YOUR IT , GREAT JOB!
That's quite a compliment! Thanks Mike!
Nice job Diff
Moving fast in this episode Diff👍
Your work is about intelligent precision and not a cut & hack exercise. This makes your videos fantastic!
Thank you! I try...
@RAT RODS FOR AFRICA Your trying is a success, keep it up!
When you buy it you get what you paid for. When you make it you get what you want. Yuzz old school.
That's true!🙂
Another excellent tutorial on fabrication. I love the extra touch of curves and speed holes ! You are right in that we here in the states take for granted the availability of supplies. Amazon for me is 3 days and free delivery . I have an excellent parts store 3 miles away and 3 more 10 miles away. For those of us who choose to or can't afford the "store bought" accessories , you do us a great service by sharing your skills man ! Oh , by the way , I noticed your drill press hold down mechanism and am stealing the idea for mine. You are awesome dude!
Thanks Randy. I'm jealous of you guys when it comes to parts availability. That hold down thingy is easy to make, please do!
Thanks for another Sunday matinee Div! Excellent as always...peace 🍺
Thanks brother
Wow that hot finger welding technic. .. amazing!
Diff your knowledge and craftsmanship is incredible to watch. Have a lucky one.
Thanks Bill
Love that pipe knife 😊
Very difficult to find...😁
A good show Div. Thank you. Fun fun.
Pleasure and thank you Andrew
You sir are right about motors vs. engines.
😄
Your thinking I think keeps you out of trouble and from tearing equipment up Good luck with the rest of the build your a master fabricator!!!!
Thanks. Sometimes I feel that my thinking just causes me trouble! 🙂
Wow man your getting more trick with every passing week.
I think it’s really cool that Gandalf returned from the Undying Lands to teach us how to build hot rods
😂 Wish I had a magic staff!
Very nice set up you are making there. Truck is going to be fantastic when you are done. As for the engine/motor debate YOU call it what YOU want and let the rest of the people worry about themselves.
Thanks Tom. Yeah, names for car parts also vary depending on where you are.🙂
Your a Master, and a Great Teacher, Thanks
Thanks Doug
I love watching these videos its like getting a crash course on how to get things done
Thanks
Always a pleasure div from NZ
In a perfect world. All link bars should be parallel to the ground and each other at ride height.
That's the general rule yes.
Yes sir Mr D 4 link coming 2gether nicely well done sir ur doin a good job out in the forest my man can wait till next time 👍👍👍
Thanks Eddie
It's much better to rethink the design multiple times at this stage than tear it apart later. It took me over a year to slow down after I retired, you are an example of how to take your time and be productive. I learn something interesting from each calming episode. 😀
Thanks Richard. SOS mode my man. Smarter, Older, Slower! 🙂
Probably my fav video you've ever done , the cutting of the pipe with the knife & spot welding with the finger was really cool effect ... Can't wait til the next one .. Keep up the great work !!!!
Thanks man!!
Oh Diff, yourve done it again...great work and instruction ..dig it
Thanks Rob
Im a bit late for this one, but dont put me in detention sir! This channel is MAN stuff - no doubt. 💯
No worries mate, all is welcome at anytime😁
Yeah brotha! I agree 💯
Very clever man Dif your process the way you think things through your templates then your process of making things fit love your videos thanks Dif
Thanks Russell, glad you enjoy my missions🙂
Thanks for the video Diff !!
My pleasure man!
Excellent, down to earth explanation of setting up a 4 link!!! Also enjoyed your video on making a super brake bender! I'm gathering parts now to make the same tool.Thank you! Keep up the good videos when you can. Yes, we are fortunate here in the US to be able to order so many parts and get them quickly, instead of making them...saves a great amount of time!
Thanks man! Good luck with the build of your brake🙂
i like the way you mock it up with the wooden templates must come from your boat building days
I guess so! But it makes life easy and works so well.
I like you setting up the 4 link . I did the same on my mug buggy
That finger welding trick is very handy, another educational video, I still say you should teach Boet. Have a lekka one Boet
Thanks boet. It takes many, many years of practice before one can do finger welding!😂
You are a fabricating king , Great work and looks super ... Build On
Thanks brother!
Thanks for another , Brother !!
The pleasure is mine🙂
Diff, your video editing rocks!
Thanks, I try....
Enjoyed this 4 link build Diff, you really explain how and why they are equal length
Glad you enjoyed it Craig. There will be more about parallel 4 link in the next video.
Looking good Diff! 👍👍🤘✌️
ok teacher. I love your tutorials
Thanks man! Happy if my stuff can help🙂
Evening Diff,
I spent 4 days in Shropshire at my buddy @craigrk helping with a few small jobs, and also getting a Messerschmitt KR250 going after 14 years in storage. Not as much progress as you have made, but we watched your episode together last night, marvelling at your teaching and fabrication skills. Loved the knife cut steam pipes and finger tip welding.
Brilliantly done.
Wow, that Messerschmit sure is a rare thing. Glad you guys enjoyed my stuff
Great work. Cant wait until next Sunday. 😋
Thank you!
Your doing a great job! It will work very well! Enjoyed the video! Thanks
Thank you, glad you enjoyed my stuff!
You’re right, we don’t know how good we have it here in the States. I have no patience for the fools that march in the streets, tear up things, loot and riot, act like spoiled children, claiming they live an oppressed and abused life. On this Memorial Day weekend, I am thankful for the Land of Opportunity and the price that has been paid, in blood, for my freedom.
As always, Div, I appreciate your work ethic, your perseverance, your humor, and your attention to detail! Keep it up, I always look forward your videos.
You sound like a man after my own heart. These days you get those darn fools everywhere!
A beautiful job, really very good!! Contratulations, neat and aesthetic!!!
Thank you so much Daniel!
Art! Flippen beautiful!
Dankie boet!
MOST INGENIUS FABRICATION... WELL DONE. 3 DEGREES ENGINE AND PINION,THATS WHAT I SET MINE ALL AT, AND NEVER HAD ANY VIBRATIONS OR U JOINT FAILURES.HONESTLY AS LONG AS THEY MATCH . YES ITS NICE HERE IN IDAHO U.S.A. TO ORDER PARTS , BUT I STILL FABRICATE LIKE YOU AT LEAST 75 % OF MY BUILDS. I LOVE MAKING MY OWN FRAMES AND STEEL PARTS, THATS REAL KREATIVITY! BE BLESSED, THAT🤟🤟👍👍 BUILD IS TOP NOTCH.
Thank you brother! Yes, most important is indeed that the angles are the same. Seems a number of people don't realize that
Hey Diff, I'm sure you already know this but some of your viewers may not ... the rear axle won't articulate with a parallel 4 link. It'll go up and down fine and look really cool but if you ever plan on going off road it's not gonna articulate (lean) over all the bumps without putting everything in a huge bind. You can watch me explain that in my "How I Mounted Coilovers And Diagonal Link" video starting at the 4:13 minute mark. You can demonstrate that when you get done by jacking up one wheel (or side) and watch the other one magically come up too .. which makes a cool video. Carry on brother.
Howzit Bob. Yeah saw that video🙂 But remember there is quite a difference in articulation between using bushes and heim joints. I will post a video showing what I get when I have those rear brackets welded on and can jack the real axle up and down. 👍
Very nice fabrication of the 4 link! Love the special effects....
Thank you! 😄
Looking good!!!
Thanks Anthony!
Div it’s looking really good. It's coming along nicely so far. Can't wait to see more videos soon. Keep up the great craftsmanship and hard work my friend. Fab On weld On. Keep Making. God Bless.
Thank you
@@ratrodsafrica your welcome
Another fascinating video my friend.
Thanks man!
Great job..
Thank you
Look Good Div, Thank you for sharing. I remember doing my 4 link, Was quiet a task. Took me about 5 hours to set it up and 5 mins to tack it in place. I used left hand and right hand threads on the 4 link so I can tune in the pinion angle. You way will also work.
I'm sure you did a great job, know your work! I want my link bars to have exactly the same length, otherwise its not a parallel 4 link anymore. I will explain why I want that in my next video.
Thanks for sharing 👍😀
My pleasure Albert
Sooo good watching you work. Bushman engineering at it's best. No fancy expensive workshop. Something we normal people will be using. Making something out of nothing. I'm hooked !
Awesome work as always
Thank you Sir!
Luv the Work,,,,
Shout Out to Ya from Uncle Arch on Long Island USA!
Howzit Uncle Arch. Thank you!
Sweet brackets!
I need a pipe cutting knife now.
Those knifes are extremely rare...😁
wow duff, that's a piece of beauty man !
Thanks Mark
Div you are a genius
Thanks Billy!
Moving along nicely dif, 👍😊
Thank you
My new favorite content creator!!! Going to mention you in my next video brother!!!!😊🤙🏻
Thanks man! What a compliment. Appreciate
That was informative, nice job.👍
Nice piece of engineering Div 👍
Thanks brother
As always looking good and very educational for the DIY!
Thanks Duff
Thanks and pleasure man.
You are very talented brotha much love
Thanks Hermy!
Ik sult yow ok zein younga, have a good one. You have an awesome knowledge in metal fabrication bro. Thanks!
Thanks!
Entertainment and Informational videos at their best I say !! 😅 Diviee. You have us all thinking man 👍🏻 and that’s a beautiful thing ✌🏻. Yes we are spoiled here in the states. I was thinking as you were building this, we can just buy it. But how cool is it that you are creating yours yourself. Much better I say. Excellent ideas you give us. And procedures for doing it ourselves. Priceless my friend. Thank you for sharing these ideas with us 🤜🏻🤛🏻🙏
Thanks man. Even if I could buy it, I'd still rather build it. Boring to just bolt stuff together🙂
Agreed !! Awesome that you are showing us very clever and creative ways to go about fabrication. Very much appreciated brother 👍🏻✌🏻
Great work Diff you are an I spiration
Happy to hear that! Thanks man.
Great work, suspension should work very well. I can't help but wonder about the drive shaft though. :)
Don't feel alone, I also wonder about it😀. We will make it work!
Awesome working process, so well done. But even here in the US, I often fab stuff that I could buy. Just a higher level of satisfaction.
Thanks. Yes, agree about the satisfaction
Looking great OG
Thank you, young man🙂
I subscribe. Nice to watch someone explain why and how they think things thru.
Thanks for the sub and welcome to my shop!🙂
Diff, you’re an excellent teacher. I enjoy your videos greatly and actually employ your techniques, especially in making and utilizing TEMPLATES! I’m sure you’ll be up to 200k viewers in no time OG!
Thanks William. Good man, once you have the magic of templates, life is so much better!🙂 Don't know about the 200k, but happy to plod along slowly 😁
Nice job Div, interesting to see how you worked it out.
Thanks brother
Ha ha!... I'm Learning From Your South African Bush Engineering. Seriously. Thanks Again and Keep Up the Great Work
Thanks man. Yes, we gotta make plans out here😆
Great video! I really enjoyed it! My auto shop teacher in high school (50 years ago) said "An engine is what it is and a motor is what it does". He was a great teacher!
Thanks! Clever teacher, good saying! I'm going to steal that o ne
Another good one Diff! And I too have always considered a motor to be electric
Yes, you obviously know how these things work!😄
Awesome as always! Great explanation on setup!
Thanks man!
beautiful work, keep going sir !
Thanks mate!🙂
Very nice! Thanks
Thanks man!
You are quite an engineer. Great job
Thank you Sir!
Good forest engineering
Thanks!
Love your attention to detail as far as them 4 link bars you always want the bottom bar level taking into consideration the weight that it will be once the bed is made etc. So if you have it off a bit its a rat rod.
Thanks. Yes, I know the general rule is that link bars should be level to the ground at ride height. But that rule is not cast in stone, there are other factors like anti squat that can come into play.
Awesome video. Love the tutorial.
Thank you!
Great Video!
Thanks!
It's looking great Div I really enjoy watching this build. Thanks 👍
Glad you are enjoying my stuff. Thanks
Great video, very informative
Thank you!
That’s pretty nice fabrication work there man, for not having a fancy cnc machine and fabricating everything by hand is pretty impressive, great work, looking forward to the next video.
Thanks man. A fancy CNC machine is just hype, awesome stuff has been built by hand for many, many years. Including the old cars we like so much🙂
Glad there are still some of us around that like to stay with tradition, keep up the great work, love your videos and love your clean and organized shop, that shows your attention to detail! Have an awesome day!
Thanks Raymond!
Good work man
Thanks
Be plenty strong enough mate almost over engineered but I love it … I could watch these videos all day … love ya work mate keep it up
Thanks mate. Yes, over engineered a bit but I think it fits the rat rod vibe🙂
Always a must watch immediately when your videos arrive. Looking good, man.
Thanks for the support brother!
well done mate. you have good one.
Thanks Robert
Love the little comedic “gems” you throw in for us. The “ET” welding finger, and that special pipe knife of yours are tools I’d like to have too!! This one was really fascinating stuff. Thanks as always. 😊👍👍
Thanks man! Those pipe knives are VERY DIFFICULT to find!😁
Your good with a knife too.🍺
😀Very special knife!
Your knowledge is much appreciated! 💪🏼
You are welcome James! Sharing a little knowledge is my primary motivation for doing this🙂
@@ratrodsafrica It is definitely noted and used. Much love from Florida brother! 💪🏼
👍👍😎💪💯,, great workmanship Sir....
Thank you Don
Yes yes yes , all that calculating you do is very important for your Rat Rods to work properly ! Diff you are Artist ,Fabricator , Engineer , Teacher all combined ! Another great video !! 🙂🙂 👍
Thank you Tony!
Fantastic!! 👍👍
Thanks Tommy!
Need one of those adamantium knives to do some cuts with--good stuff. Haha
Learning alot here, TU
Great job mate. I'm just about to do my triangulated four bar on my project. just got to finish building the chassis.
Thanks. Good luck with your project
Like the home made scribe awesome work 👍
Thanks Tony
