Great advice regarding changing your engine oil regularly. Its good that we both use Mannol engine oil that is a premium oil and not too hard on the pocket to enable us to do this.

Good video but few things to add. Most of these timing chains snap at 70k-140k so they must be replaced. As you mentioned goot to check around engine whilenits removed, you dont need to remove it to do chain. Third is egr getting rid of it is not bad but need to mention that when egr is deleted or blanked combustion chamber temperature is bigger so need to be more carefull with power till engine is cold

Please note that the role of the glow plug control unit is particularly important. The glow plug system is used in the regeneration phase of the particulate filter. If the box is defective, there is no warning on the dashboard (and regeneration is diable).1 You can only find out by plugging into the OBD2 socket (dont forget this modern engine can start without pre-heating by no cold temperatures). My particulate filter had started to clog. In the end, the turbo released at 180,000 km. After replacing the module I was able to observe the regeneration cycles start again and see the soot rate go down. my advice is to regularly monitor the condition of the case via an OBD2 test. There are tutorials to repair them even must but it is not easy to open them. (E87ph2)

Good video, even though I don’t own a diesel BMW. I especially appreciate the part about ignoring the factory oil change intervals. Hi George, ive sorted my N47.....ive discovered something that might make a difference on people with n47/timing chain problems/need a new intake manifold.
Ive discovered that if the car miles have reached over 130k its possible the crankshaft sensor and cam shaft sensor are on their last leg, since those two work together to sinq the timing chain. My crankshaft sensor failed because
    After fitting new manifold.
    1. Re connected fuel injector metal pipes and wires.
    Their was trapped air.
    2. Kept cranking the car 1 injector at a time to bleed it.
    3. Crankshaft sensor stopped working
    4. Car was taking 5 seconds to fire up and was misfiring really bad and shutting down randomly and burning fuel.
Ive fitted a new crankshaft sensor and (cam sensor) the car fires up super fast and i feel the timing chain is more in sinq then before.
I believe if anyone is doing the timing chain to also do the cam sensor and crankshaft sensor aswell only if the cars over 120/140k.

300k km n57 manual. Clutch and timing chain never been changed. Pushing over 300whp. Just changing oil often. First owner did however go 25 000-30 000km between changes. That’s the first 190k km of the car. Since i bought i tuned it and changed glowplugs just so i didn’t have problems down the road. Also did a quick carbon cleanout. However it was a much messier job than excepted and i couldn’t get all the carbon out. I really just shit on it and i still run black gue all over the intake and intake vavles. I clean it someday maybe 😂
    I change oil between 10 000km and 12 000km.

If I were to do the EGR delete, but leave the DPF, is there a bigger chance it would get blocked/have trouble regenerating or is it unrelated? The emission regulations are getting crazy! Currently driving an F20 116d (N47) with 245k km on the clock, everything stock including the chain with regular servicing, so I think it's time to start doing preventative maintenance if I plan on keeping it longer...
