last week I had to buy a pair of shoes for work and I bought the V5 because I misread the price tag. I was tempted to return them when I got home and realised they were 200 and not 100 bucks . But after walking in them for a whole day I was shocked at how amazingly comfy they are. I started getting in to NB history and a week later I’m tempted to buy a new pair of NB to rotate my shoes, As a newby to the sneaker world, I must say, the NB 990 are the Mercedes E class of shoes. Not really sporty, understated, your dad appreciates it more than your friends… but hell it’s cruising in luxury lol
I just bought the exact 990v6 and colorway Friday. The only thing with this model is I had to go down half a size. They were too big if I went true-to-size. Today, I exchanged them for half size down and they are puurrrfect. Yep, $199.99 is expensive, but I do like them more than the Adidas Boost which I never owned, but have tried on, because of the hype when they were first released.
Just got my 9060's in and OH MAN - they're SO GOOD. Hard to say whether I like them better or the 990v6's, but I don't think you can go wrong with either

@@Butters-_ i usually go up half a size in all shoes without any width specification. So Nikes and Ultraboost im a 10.5. These I went with a 10 wide(ee). Its comfortable borderline too roomy. Does that help?

990v6 is my first pair of 990 entry. Omg i could walk whole day nearing 16k steps and little bit of standing here and there, literally no foot fatigue. These are so so good!
I like the fuelcell being more comfortable, but one thing I like about my V5s is the cushion feels nearly the same as day 1 after 2 years of wear. I could see the fuel cell bottoming out after some time
Definitely looking into buying these. I'm more than happy that the Fuel Cell foam is firmer than in other NB shoes. I don't get why people want structure-less marshmallows on their feet, but to each their own I guess...
Leratos are extremely soft yet extremely supportive. Was the ultimate shoe before they took it off the site because it didn't sell alot with its $229 price tag and probably won't make a v2 of it. They did something amazing with that shoe that alot of people slept on. You can even find some brand new sizes out there for half off or more. Sadly my size 13 is nowhere.
I genuinely like new balance shoes. Not just because ugly shoes are trending but because I really do like them. Once the fad is gone I’ll still be here.
I have the v5s and never wear them. I am totally addicted to my models with Fresh Foam X and FuelCell. The More v3, 1080 v12 and Fuelcell Super Comp Trainers are my favorites.
I really like the new look of the 990. I will for sure be picking these up. I have really wide feet and the 990 is a must for me. Wearing the 4s right now.
Went tts as the area under the first eyelets was pressing down on my foot when I went half size down. Not disappointed cuz there’s still no heel slip, they’re just a bit long but I don’t mind. Amazing sneakers!!!

The 997h is so underrated! Better fit & comfort than my 574s, which are comparable in price & material... just copped a pair of last season's NB x JCrew "Trek", with a sale price too good to pass up

I live off of 997’s. That’s my lifestyle shoe. They just look so good in tapered jeans, and they’re not too expensive. I do own a few pairs of 990’s. Love NBs.
Man I appreciate this video. I been seeing lots of fashion trends about the 2002r. I'm more interested in newer technology shoes new balance has. But I do like the classics. This silhouette works for me. When you said it's fuel cell mid sole got my attention.
I just purchased the 9060s earlier this evening before realizing that the 990's include fuel cell foam in their midsole, as you mentioed in this video. I find the 9060s to be far more attractive than the 990s, but I would have probably bought the 990's if I had known they have the fuel cell mdsoles.
Love the new version, tho in terms of looks the 992 9s my favoruite. Don't own it because it's always sold out! I do have the V5. but never used them because I'm saving them. People be mad because the truth hurts. This shoe is literally made for walking. AJ1 are not! Also New Balance make runnign shoes, and shoes for athletes. Sure bascet is kidna in teh same leage so are Nike, but NB is known for comfort.
I dont like that they are using less and less of the premium grey suede. Cutting costs and making them look cheaper while charging more. Also, all the extra silver/reflective bits looks cheap. Even the mesh looks more shiny.
990v3 is not good for flat footers like me because i have heel pains after walking all day with these. I wonder what the v6 could offer for plantar fasciitis.
I thought for a long time-..to buy them or not, as a result-... bought,-..quite excellent pedals..-in terms of comfort and appearance, but they saved a lot on suede-this is especially noticeable under the letter "N", and the upper plastic eyelets give off some cheapness. Of course, not everyone will be suitable, for those who have a lot of weight it will be difficult-because the sole is very soft, with my weight of 75 kg.-they are ideal. Well, in general-excellent crosses for a price tag of $ 170, ... I'm satisfied. Greetings from Russia🖐
You buy Jordan’s to try to impress others, you buy New Balance for the Comfort, build quality and timelessness… no need to impress anyone. 990s are like the Porsche 911 of sneakers.
JB also tried to create “updated retros” with the 31, 32 and I think the 33 as well supposedly inspired by the 1, 2 and 3. And although they were good performance-wise (I think), they got universally roasted for the failed tie-in to the past. And for good reason, I think 😂
That's a really good point that they tried to tie in the retro but it was too much of a technical advancement and not true to the cut and sow originals
Toe box is great I always go a half size down because I don’t like my sneakers looking like flippers (fyi NB sneakers can run big). Okay so comfort level is good but the material towards back of shoe feels like it’s gonna let my heel slip right out the back collar of shoe. New balance usually makes a taller collar to keep your foot snug and secure in back as you walk in the shoe. I wear lots of 990v2, 990v3 and I also own the v5. I think the design uses a long thin upper tongue to form against the top of your foot to help keep secure. With a lifestyle runner I feel like you need a shoe with a deeper fit in collar. Suede is lighter tone grey compared to previous models even though they use castle rock traditional color way. Quality of suede is is fine and thin, usually I would say suede is a bit more thick and premium. The eyelets and eyestay (holes for laces) are a bit thin to. The roll of the shoe when walking is organic and you can feel a standard thick midsole. I don’t think anyone’s feet would be hurting, overall good model but try previous versions against the v6.

Jordan's signature line isn't "a huge failure" just because it doesn't translate to modern day lifestyle. The goal of the brand has always been performance so you can't call it a failure since that expectation wasn't set by them in the first place.
I like them but I honestly prefer the V5. Also I’ve noticed that the bottom is wearing quick and I only walk a few miles a week in them. I don’t even run!
New Balance 990 quality continues to go down and price goes up. I have started wearing them in 1985. They were no popular then I guess not many people bought them because the box was not the cool. In the 80s thru the 90s, I could get 20 - 24 months out of the original 990. And I was up to nearly 250lb. in the 90's now I am at 215lb. and I get maybe 6 months and then the seams are busting. But I am really glad to know they come in a High Quality Box, that matches the shoe, how much of that amazing box is made in the USA? How about the red dye color do you know the pantone number for the red? That is so important in a quality shoe.
But at least it’s retail and easy to obtain GRs. $200 isn’t a little bit of money, but we’re living in times where low quality used Jordan and Nike collabs resale for well over $200.
I've been waiting since release to finally score a size 12 6E..... And finally got lucky and scored a pair last night on the New balance site I signed up for notifications but have never been notified. There were two pairs available. I wish I would have bought both pairs but I didn't want to do that to somebody so I only grabbed the one pair. Hopefully they stock some more soon or at least within a year!! 😂👊🏼
Got these in my size and they were a half size too big, then got this a half size smaller and my foot doesn’t fit lol I give up on these unless I find a store to try them first.

Are you able to compare Grade school vs adults in these models? Sick of paying the $200 price tag for my girl’s pairs when I can get the kids pairs for her, only downside is it’s not MIU. So idk if that will affect comfort and width, if you can do a video on that that would be great
With respect, i think Jordan will make an infinite variation of OG 1s, mid 1s, and low 1s, Not to mention the hype train they keep going on whatever they decide is the shoe of the moment, see Jordan 2s and Airships next year. New Balance has had a hell of a last few years, but who is the king? We all know, and if you're not sure, try getting a pair of A Man Maniere 4s tomorrow or Lost and Founds this weekend.
I can well imagine they may be one of the most cushioned, comfy 990 silhouettes, but for me these cross the border into looking a little over-designed like soooo many other sneakers these days. Looks-wise at least, these don't quite match up with the 2s, 3s, and 4s which I personally feel are the 3 best looking 990 silhouettes.
My problem with these is it looks super super close to the others which for me I like and dislike honestly. But you ask how long can Jordan brand retro the 1-13 lol let’s be honest it’s forever. Other wise they would have died out by now. So I agree with you I like how they kept the integrity I respect that. I wish the materials were a bit better specially since they are asking 200!!! Bucks that’s insane of a price. Which is more comfortable the 9060 or the 990 v6? I personally love the 9060 that shoe kept the dna while completely modernizing the look. My problem with Jordan is price is ridiculous for the materials as well. And tech is ass for most models. But I will say flat out anyone anyone who thinks the 18s are trash honestly they 15 to 18s are some of my favorite models from Jordan brand for me personally I think your crazy If you think there trash. Thanks for the review Hes! This might be my first pair of NB. From time to time Jordan brand did offer their modern interpretations of AJ1, but the market responds were lukewarm. People only care about how "OG" it is. Even if Nike put a piece of rock as cushion in the midsole of Chicago, Royal, Blacktoed, or Banned, they will still be sold out. Also why bother to innovate if AJ1s could resell for thousands with just reversing the swoosh and collabs.
I feel like comparing the new balance 990 series to Jordan’s is like comparing a Apple to a orange. 990’s were created as a lifestyle shoe whereas Jordan’s were created as performance shoes.
No offense but the fact that you didn’t put 2 and 2 together on the 990s foam being more firm adding better long term durability was a massive miss… that’s why it’s designed way. To hold up over years. Those other foam options that are airport soft rapidly degrade within 1 year.
993 is the best shoe New Balance has ever made. And the most comfortable NB shoe I've ever worn. Far more comfortable and supportive than the 990 line. And the materials are superior. 993 = premium suede. 990v6, pigskin. 993 better, stronger outsole materials = more support and last longer. I've worn both the 990 and 993. 990 line keeps getting softer, cheaper looking and more cheaply made. My 993 suede still looks good a year later and the tread has no noticeable wear. My 990 shoes? The pigskin has turned dark grey and looks dirty even after cleaning. Tread and midsole support have worn down.
@@antdaboss6961 I go TTS. 1/2 size down was too tight and too short for me, and I've got an average size foot. Definitely try TTS first and exchange if that's not a good fit for you. Your gonna LOVE these shoes. I'm on my 5th pair. Never worn a better shoe. Great looking too.

There's are a different vibe. The v5s are the lo-fi kings. These are a bit more sleek and dynamic.

Also take note of the outsole missing N durance rubber in key areas so that it doesn't last as long

Last time I checked the narrow width version was pretty much sold out in all sizes.
Was a good move to get rid of those tpu plastics from the v5s as they tend to yellow over time.
It's annoyingly a tad narrow at the knuckles. I'm slightly wide but not wide enough to get a wide width.

With 2002Rs I'm TTS wide foot. But all the 990 sizing options is keeping me from mistakenly ordering a size too big. And $199 is tough to jump on.

Still deciding on either buying another v5 or the new v6. Mixed reviews on RUclips. The v6 is growing on me after each review.
I bought the v6 MiUSA Grey Day with the navy hits. Awesome shoe. My most used shoe at the moment.
Love the fuelcell foam of the 990v6. But the v6 is just a bit too long. the v5 fit perfectly.
I've been waiting since release to finally score a size 12 6E..... And finally got lucky and scored a pair last night on the New balance site I signed up for notifications but have never been notified. There were two pairs available. I wish I would have bought both pairs but I didn't want to do that to somebody so I only grabbed the one pair. Hopefully they stock some more soon or at least within a year!! 😂👊🏼
Got these in my size and they were a half size too big, then got this a half size smaller and my foot doesn’t fit lol I give up on these unless I find a store to try them first.
200 bucks makes it a hard buy, but my birthday's not too far away, so maybe it'll be my gift to myself. I have the V5 in grey, so I'd love this in black. Any idea when that might be released?
Never owned a pair of NB before but I’m really starting to dig them lately. Does the standard fit feel ok on a semi-wide foot? I’m just worried if I got a wide fit they’d be a little too big. Appreciate any info
I still prefer the more retro look of the v5. These are a bit too modern for me. Actually prefer the 2002r as well.
The heels on mine are wearing out much faster than the V5 ,V4 and V3 .
Are you able to compare Grade school vs adults in these models? Sick of paying the $200 price tag for my girl’s pairs when I can get the kids pairs for her, only downside is it’s not MIU.
So idk if that will affect comfort and width, if you can do a video on that that would be great
With respect, i think Jordan will make an infinite variation of OG 1s, mid 1s, and low 1s, Not to mention the hype train they keep going on whatever they decide is the shoe of the moment, see Jordan 2s and Airships next year. New Balance has had a hell of a last few years, but who is the king? We all know, and if you're not sure, try getting a pair of A Man Maniere 4s tomorrow or Lost and Founds this weekend.

I can well imagine they may be one of the most cushioned, comfy 990 silhouettes, but for me these cross the border into looking a little over-designed like soooo many other sneakers these days.
Looks-wise at least, these don't quite match up with the 2s, 3s, and 4s which I personally feel are the 3 best looking 990 silhouettes.
My problem with these is it looks super super close to the others which for me I like and dislike honestly. But you ask how long can Jordan brand retro the 1-13 lol let’s be honest it’s forever. Other wise they would have died out by now. So I agree with you I like how they kept the integrity I respect that. I wish the materials were a bit better specially since they are asking 200!!! Bucks that’s insane of a price. Which is more comfortable the 9060 or the 990 v6? I personally love the 9060 that shoe kept the dna while completely modernizing the look. My problem with Jordan is price is ridiculous for the materials as well. And tech is ass for most models. But I will say flat out anyone anyone who thinks the 18s are trash honestly they 15 to 18s are some of my favorite models from Jordan brand for me personally I think your crazy If you think there trash. From time to time Jordan brand did offer their modern interpretations of AJ1, but the market responds were lukewarm. People only care about how "OG" it is. Even if Nike put a piece of rock as cushion in the midsole of Chicago, Royal, Blacktoed, or Banned, they will still be sold out. Also why bother to innovate if AJ1s could resell for thousands with just reversing the swoosh and collabs.
I feel like comparing the new balance 990 series to Jordan’s is like comparing a Apple to a orange. 990’s were created as a lifestyle shoe whereas Jordan’s were created as performance shoes.
The original 990’s were made for running specifically
Are the v6 pushing your heel forward? I couldn’t wear them with my orthotics with the v5 they pushed my narrow heel forward out of my orthotics

what's the sizing compared to a 990v5? would you go TTS (say 9) or stick with your usual 990v5 size (like an 8.5)?

No offense but the fact that you didn’t put 2 and 2 together on the 990s foam being more firm adding better long term durability was a massive miss… that’s why it’s designed way. To hold up over years. Those other foam options that are airport soft rapidly degrade within 1 year.
How would you rate the “ 993 “ comfortability ? Are they worth getting ?
993 is the best shoe New Balance has ever made. And the most comfortable NB shoe I've ever worn. Far more comfortable and supportive than the 990 line. And the materials are superior. 993 = premium suede. 990v6, pigskin. 993 better, stronger outsole materials = more support and last longer. I've worn both the 990 and 993. 990 line keeps getting softer, cheaper looking and more cheaply made. My 993 suede still looks good a year later and the tread has no noticeable wear. My 990 shoes? The pigskin has turned dark grey and looks dirty even after cleaning. Tread and midsole support have worn down.

@@antdaboss6961 I go TTS. 1/2 size down was too tight and too short for me, and I've got an average size foot. Definitely try TTS first and exchange if that's not a good fit for you. Your gonna LOVE these shoes. I'm on my 5th pair. Never worn a better shoe. Great looking too.
When do you think new balance will release another colorway for this shoe, i want to try them but not a big fan of the current color.
