John has to be one of the most respected riders around, I can remember Josh Brookes saying John had a word with him about his riding at the TT and he listened, probably the only person out there who could give advice and not get told to F*#! off.. watched the NW and it was really emotional seeing John on the podium, couldnt have been happier for him.. I still believe with a little luck he could be on the box at the TT this year, the bike is fast and John is a happy man...
I think so too Let me tell you if the weather is good sunny dry track with these new 2024 fireblades on slick tires he will be right up there so will Ian Hutchinson But if the weather is shit light rain and a damp track John will be pushing for wins he’s that good in bad weather
John McGuinness is not only a legend but a kind soul. I remember him making my first TT a special one as I saw him walking by in town in a hurry and stopping to take a picture with me. Wish him many more happy and healthy years of doing what he loves. Whilst putting on a show that us fans will remember forever.
Hey Mcguinness you really shouldn't let ANY trolls affect you in any way, your respected worldwide, people travel from all over the world every year to TT just to watch you,you owe nobody anything, you need to make no excuses, your a hero with the biggest TT hero's,enjoy your life man and you race till as long as it suits you, I'll raise a glass to you next week at the paddock bar .
How can you not just love John McGuinness. He's just such a nice person at heart. The interviewer was fantastic too. Loved this interview, and the stories. I had my first TT as a spectator last year, on the end of the day of the senior I grabbed one of John's used front tires from the bin. It's marked JMTT. It's hanging here in my garage as a memory of my solo ride on my 34 year old VFR to the TT from Norway and back. I walked by John in the paddock. Next year I will ask for his autograph if I see him😊🙌
English is my second language, but I can listen to this man for hours and hours with no end.John is a privilige and joy to listen to you !!Good luck for TT 2024
What a legend. I could listen to John's stories for hours 😂. I bet he's got some BLINDERS he could tell after a couple of beers. Wishin him a safe a successful TT 24'.
Sad to hear John getting upset about comments on social media. I don't think he realises how respected he is by the riders and fans. He's on a par with Hailwood Dunlop at the TT. His love for the sport and bikes in general really comes across. The NW shows anything can happen in racing. He may be older but he has the knowledge and experience. He will be in the mix at TT 2024. I hope he continues to ride as long as he's enjoying it.
Social media gives the f*ckwits of life a megaphone. Without social media these knobs wouldn't have the balls to even say Hi to John let alone criticise him
John is a legend in the truest sense of the word, I still get a buzz every time I see him on track. His legacy is incredible and the fact he still has his feet firmly on the ground is testament to the man. Good luck at the TT John
I remember a couple years back at Aberdare Park, my dad whos had severe back problems and been on tramadol ect was having a long heart to heart with John when he was addicted to the pain meds. One thing that stood out to me is how John still had a smile on his face a joke to give and was happy to have a long conversation all while dealing with what can only be described as excruciating pain. Hats off to him, hard b*stard with a heart of gold
My most respected, loved, inspirational biker. A great human being. Keep racing whenever, wherever keeps you happy John but please use your experience to keep you in one piece.
Love Mcguinness. Absolutely top bloke. Ridden everything, won on everything. Missed him in 17 at TT because he'd crashed at NW200. Missed Guy too because he didn't get as far as Cronk y Voddy where I was. He's one of my favourite ever humans. Still a racer at heart. 👍
I'm sure your kids will look back on their child hood and say how wonderful it was. I grew up in/on/around bikes, paddocks, race meets,my mom says she worries we didnt have Sunday lunches, coz we were always out racing. In my eyes I had the best child hood. I live bikes and still do at 52, I ride my own(not race) but it's something you get in your blood. Top man ❤❤
Could listen to John for hours! Having briefly met him, unlike others he has no ego, is still very approachable and is more than willing to help up and coming riders with advice. Hehas earned the right to choose when he wants to pack it in and I think it's great Honda are supporting him in that considering all he has done for the brand.
Met John, and Bruce Anstey and many other stars, at IoM in 2015. Absolutely regular bloke who just happens to ride fast. Very approachable. This comes across in the interview - uncomplicated, motivated to succeed, and very much aware of his place in the sport. More power to him.
Fantastic to listen to an absolute legend, John has every right to be out there, No way should he hang it up, he's got so many more race to win ! Top man, but be careful having a hard on opening the front door !!!!!
Top man John! what a pleasure to hear the man that is the TT hope he has a fabulous TT and a real honest good guy one of the best ever riders and what a mouth watering prospect to visit his place and hear more from such an icon in the sport cheers guys .👌👍
Great podcast again! McGuiness is a top bloke. I doubt any real bike fans have anything negative to say about him. Only sad internet trolls will have a go at him!! Fingers crossed for the IOM
We had the pleasure of an hour or so with John and Becky, Dean Harrison, Carl fogarty and Lee Johnson at Olivers Mount a few years back, and he's just the same in person as he is on the telly. Becky is an amazing woman. She's such an awesome wife, and mother, and John is a very lucky man. I'd made a bit of a tit of myself by saying something in jest, and in my nervous state it came out sideways, and everyone held their laughs, but becky smoothed it out in a heartbeat with a really funny comment which took all the embarrassment right out of it, and we all laughed at my stupid arse together. It meant the world to me, having always been a mega fan of John McGuiness and desperate not to make a fool of myself, so becky, if you ever read this, I really appreciated you giving me an out to a pretty embarrassing situation 😂 The whole road racing community is just epic. A true family feeling, every time we're together at the races, and to me, who's suffers with horrific anxiety at times, this extended family have always been really supportive and friendly. Maybe autistic people are drawn to motorbikes like I am, because I've met a surprising amount of other aspies at the road races.
Thanks so much for sharing that, it’s a great story and one that worked out well for you 🙂 I’m glad you find some kind of peace within the racing family and long may it continue. And thank you for watching 🙌🏼
So much respect for John, and his knowledge of the tt is unreal, when my son was young he was obsessed with John, we even went into his motorhome one time when the 1st tt game came out, John took my lad and let him lie on the bed and play the new game with him, my son is 31 one now, got a photo somewhere with John and me lad under his arm ❤
What a genuine bloke Mcpint is….and bloody funny with it…..top man, and will forever be a TT legend…👍👌🇮🇲. Ps when you asked…what’s your favourite bike…I immediately said, Vimto Honda…👍👌😉🇮🇲
@@OffTrack_Podcast isn’t he just….I’m only 3 years older than John, and the last time I raced a 250 was in 93 at Jurby south road circuit…2nd place in class I may add…couldn’t imagine doing what he’s doing now….FairPlay to him..and on a KR1S…his first race bike…👍👌😉🇮🇲
There is modest and then there is McPint. Great interview as always Dave. Difficult to believe people can say such negative things to him. Sad that it affects him too. He deserves the word Legend.
Was at oulton park yesterday when I was not out I watched john he is so smooth and fsst makes it look easy. Look forward to the interview in the winter
I can't believe some people say John should retire. Are they mental. John brings so much to the party, training up the young blood. And he loves the sport, good on ya JOHN is what I say. Do what you do best, ride bikes
John is a legend. I remember walking past a stand he was on at Durham bike show years ago. He stood all day in the sun speaking to people & signing autographs. The people that ridicule him are not worth knowing - john has forgotten more than they know about bike racing.
A cracking interview Dave well done! I could listen to John all night; you have to get him on again to tell his stories that would be mega! For those that disrespect you John….as Massive Wagons said in their song “f**k the haters”!
Always like listening to John 😊 You mentioning Ollie Olsen brought back some memories. I remember watching him at Hackney speedway and remember also Keith White. Did have a bib signed by them all but lost it over the years
John you are an absolute LEGEND and a true scholar and gentleman. total respect for you and all I can say is bollocks to the keyboard warrior's. They are not a patch on you, you keep being you and doing you, that's all that matters. Keep it safe and keep it on two wheels.......

He is the same age as me . He is still finishing in the top ten . Fair play for him still racing. If he is still offered a ride. Why would he not take it. It’s not just the racing, it’s Johns experience that he puts into the bike development. Great interview. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
With the weather looking a bit up and down on the Isle of man at the moment!. Mc p could be right up there this year, because he has seen it all before, top class racer in all conditions.
The people that Doubt John calling him this and that , couldn’t do anything close to what he has achieved, John Fcuk the Haters and keep doing what makes you happy, Your a Legend 💯
Another good listen. I will be interested to see what you come up with if you do pin him down to another interview, as he's done a lot of pods and shows in recent years. Can you discover some fresh ground Dave? There must be something new. Another suggestion for you for riders to feature- Terry Rymer. I don't think Tel has ever done an interview with anyone. He was very successful back in the day and especially in endurance racing, which was never big in the UK so he didn't really get the recognition for that he deserved. I'd love to hear more about his career and some of the stories he must have, stick him on your hit list.
He’s on the list, Andrew - we did three hours with him on the audio show (search Off Track Terry Rymer in Spotify or wherever) a couple of years ago but definitely need him on the video podcast
One thing I have learned over the years is, show what you can do no matter what people say or think about you, if anyone comes to you with a problem you might be able to solve it, share what you have in the grey bank of man, other than that let them work it out for themselves, because in the ever hectic technological paradigm we have entered a kind of learned helplesness has come over society, where they often hate you for being clever and despise a fool, and David Daniel Stephenson knows a thing or two about bikes.
I bet he looks back now and is clad he didn’t fall out with Honda or even Sue them after the big crash 💥 at the NW200 due a faulty gearbox like what also happened to Guy Martin at the TT when he came off at at about 140mph
Don’t worry about the pricks on social media. How many TT’s have they won. Just use the best two words in the English Language, one starts with F the other starts with O. Have a good TT John.
Enjoy every minuet Old saying from my grandmother Burn the candle at both ends it might not last the night Oh my friends and foes it gives a glorious light x
Always looked up to John one hell of a racer met him once at Goodwood think I obsession by asking when he was going to retire I just worry about him many years ago I had a massive injury with the lawnmower not 180 miles an hour on a bike but what he talks about I so understand fortunately I never got hooked. Most of the bits should hurt didn’t exist still going on though 62 year-old good on you John and I still am you’re riding Joey is my hero you have come a very close second keep going Michael
John for every hater you get there are a thousand or more people who can still see you have the pace. You're there or there abouts consistently, and should luck go your way another podium or race win is definitely on the cards.
John you are and always will be a Superstar!
Don't put yourself down john your not fat FFS you are in your 50s. You don't look shit in leathers at all top bloke and great rider we love ya ❤
Excellent
I bet he looks back now and is clad he didn’t fall out with Honda or even Sue them after the big crash 💥 at the NW200 due a faulty gearbox like what also happened to Guy Martin at the TT when he came off at at about 140mph
Not many guys at 52 who are still putting in the lap times John is still putting in.
Not many guys in total, Jon 🙏🏼
Just worked out how to comment 😂 enjoy your content from Nz , last vid is what we enjoy good stuff
Thanks so much, Ross! Love to hear where people listen from and that’s the furthest yet, I reckon 🙌🏼🇳🇿
Love him.
Don’t worry about the pricks on social media. How many TT’s have they won. Just use the best two words in the English Language, one starts with F the other starts with O. Have a good TT John.
Top bloke.
Excellent interview
Thank you, much appreciated 🙏🏼
Good bloke
John for every hater you get there are a thousand or more people who can still see you have the pace. You're there or there abouts consistently, and should luck go your way another podium or race win is definitely on the cards.
True legend
Great interview
Thank you very much, Russell
