For everyone complaining about Serj, he had back surgery before these shows and caught Covid after. That's why he looks like he doesn't care. I'm sure he cares, just didn't want to injure his back further by jumping around, he looks like he gave 100% to me.
I saw them in 2018 in Phoenix which was an amazing show. They def don’t have the same energy compared to 2018, but def can’t compare them to 2000’s performances. Also have to considered that these 2021 shows were supposed to be performed in 2020 but due to covid. Serj was probably not feeling it anymore a year later.
Serj still sounds great on the songs, but he’s missing that aggression at key points in the songs that made them so popular back in thd day. It’s like he’s trying to finesse his way through every song. A lot of System songs aren’t known for that style. Sucks to hear him starfishing so many of their classics.
Considering these days he does so much clean singing for his solo work and other projects it makes more sense for him to protect his voice during these live shows. They do what like two dozen shows a year? He can still do his deep fry vocals like he did in Needles, but the shrieks are just too detrimental in terms of risk/reward.
I mean he's 54 his voice naturally won't be able to do exactly what it used to especially since he probably damaged it a lot earlier on but he makes it work imo
Quite honestly I think that serj's current voice carries their lighter songs very nicely. Soldier side sounded amazing! Toxicity era songs and screams however...don't sound ideal. He can do them better, but apparently they've taken a toll on his voice

He had Covid during this Show. When I saw them 2013 in Gelsenkirchen he sounded spot on. Watch the Rock''n'heim show that was just 2 days or so later. If Serj wants he still can deliver!!
I'm not sure if it's his age. I'm a huge soad fan, but it looks like he simply won't bother anymore, it's like he is not even trying and he is only there because he has to in order to earn more money

Maybe old man with surgery before the show should do all the things that hurt him? Jumping around, scream and do the whole thing? I think they are doing concert's not for trying to be their past-self's. They are performing because it's their life, they are musicians. It's not about screams in SOAD already, we all love when Serj screaming but it's not the main thing. Atmosphere of so many people together singing songs written by you, that's it.

There are no bands from to 60's to the early 2000's I would pay to watch. To me, it's sad to see them and myself becoming older and not as relevant as we once thought we were. But the music they wrote will still echo with us and to the younger people we turn on to their music.

SOAD has gotten old, but I still keep headbanging with Bounce or trying to pronounce correctly I-E-A-I-A-I-O lyrics. And SOAD members are still alive, but artists like Linkin Park, Motörhead, Queen, etc keep being listened by million people and they will be for a long time
Man Serj has no presence. I kinda don't want a new record from SOAD. Shavo is the only one getting down. I saw them support Slipknot on the Iowa cycle and system was so different. Ive seen guys older then them getting me more intense. Weak performance!! Give Daron his Iceman back!
