    Glad to see another RomeWise video and especially glad to visit Florence with you! I've been twice and can't wait to go back again. I stayed a whole week on a solo trip in 2018 and still didn't see everything I wanted. Santa Croce is my favorite church in Florence. Fingers crossed that I'll make it back to Rome and Florence sometime this year!

    Thanks Elyssa for the video, you seemed to have enjoyed Florence! I am planning my visit this summer, are you recommending to climb the dome more than the bell tower ?

    • @Romewise
      @Romewise  2 года назад

      Thanks for watching! Hmmm, it's not that I recommend one over the other. We only had 2.5 days and only had time + energy for one. I would climb them both if I had time! But either one is special and offers stunning views.

  • @sally954
    @sally954 2 года назад +1

    Love this, have never visited Florence but have always wanted to. The Dome looks scary but I have climbed St Peters can you compare the 2?

    • @Romewise
      @Romewise  2 года назад +1

      Thank you! Yes, I would say that both climbs can be claustrophobic and also tiring. But one huge difference is that at Saint Peter's there is a lift that takes you have way up if you want. On the other hand, the Florence dome is on foot from street level. There is no elevator option. Basically both are big climbs, tiring, a bit steep, but oh so worth it!

      Thank you for your kind words. I'm glad you enjoy the video. We stay at various places in Florence - it really depends on whether you are looking for an apartment, hotel or B&B, and of course on your budget, and what kind of space you want. I suggest you pick the neighborhood and from there, pick the hotel/apartment. You might want to stay in the historic center to be close to everything, but we like the Oltrarno. It's still close to the center but just out of it enough to feel more neighborhoody.

    Beautiful video and unlike too many others you actually show the sights.. not your face taking up 95% of the screen as you walk past them. You should give lessons!.. Thank you! Subcribed!

      Thank you so much for your kind words! I still consider myself a bit "new" to RUclips and I have learned from the many comments I've received on previous videos to show the sites more and my face less. I am glad it has improved my videos! Thanks again!

      @@Romewise I find it a millennial/genx problem with narcissism. ;-). We all have people we know that come back with vacation photos of their face, standing front of... but you can't see where they are...The worst are the young ladies that complain about lack of time.. but have obviously spent hours on their hair and makeup... Influencers.. LOL!.. Keep up the good work.

    Great video. How long was your walk to your hotel? We are going to Florence from Rome in June and staying at Piazza Della Signoria, any recommendations on what Bus to take?

    • @Romewise
      @Romewise  Год назад +1

      Thank you! It was maybe 20 minutes from Santa Maria Novella to our hotel in the Oltrarno. For us it was a nice walk.
      From Santa Maria Novella to Piazza della Signoria it's maybe a 10-15 minute walk.
      If you prefer a bus, I would use Google maps and use their public transportation setting to see what's available for the route you need. If you are up for a walk, I think it's the best way to get around.

    Wonderful video. First, I'd like to say that among all the different youtube videos on Italy I love yours the most. I also visited your website and learned a lot. Thank you. I wonder if you may share some insight about Firenzecard. We will visit Italy for the first time in mid April. We plan to spend at least 3 full days in Florence so I am planning to buy the Firenzecard. However I was not able to find the details about how early I should use the card to reserve Uffizi visit in order to get the time I want. Their website only says to call a number or go in person to reserve. However nowadays popular places need to reserve as early as 2 months ahead, I am afraid that we may not be able to get the time we want if we only reserve it a few days ahead. Your response is very much appreciated.

      Dear Julia,
      Thanks a lot for your kind words- I'm so glad you are enjoying my channel and my videos.
      We just did another video about Florence and it will be up soon. In the meantime, you've given me a great idea to do a video about the Firenze card.
      I don't know the answer to your question but I would err on the side of booking early, and call now to book the time you want. Tourism has been intense this past year and it's going to be similar in 2023, so I'd expect things to get filled up. Book as far ahead as you can.
      Have a great time in Florence!
