Me too. I still have my first Paiste - a 1983 22" Rude Ride/Crash - and it's still in one piece. OK, the 15" hats and the 14/16/18 & 20 crashes I broke, but they took a beating and lasted from 3 - 5 years. Zildjians - you can change that to months or even weeks!
I posted comments on the videos for Sabian and Zildjian because I like different brands. HOWEVER, Paiste cymbals were my first professional cymbals when I had the money to buy my own and I really am a big Paiste fan, especially over the last couple of years, with their lower-priced lines. These 900 series crashes are THE shit! They blow away anything that Sabian and Zildjian have. My jaw is on the floor. I'm only 1:03 into this video and I know I'm going to be in shock with the remainder of the Paiste offerings. Go, Paiste!!
The 900 Crashes sound like they have a 'soft gate' built into them There's a beautiful crash sound for a perfect duration then a quick yet gentle decay. It must be due to the physical flexibility they've developed and put into this line.
The decay is absolutely due to the weight and flexibility of these cymbals. They're super explosive and open up quickly, but then also get out of the way quickly too!
I’ve never ever heard cymbals as musical and beautiful as masters thin - the crashes literally sound like wind blowing! I’m so obsessed I watched about 3 times
Paiste have done it again!! Loving the new Giant Beat sizes & Signature Series. Long overdue on the Signature Series, however I wish they could have added a 19in size for the new Fast Medium Crashes.
Paiste is the best sounding cymbals out. Grew up listening to les falconer and him teaching me a lot he is endorsed by you guys. I played Sabian and mienl but nothing like paiste I think it’s time to go full piaste!
I feel that they just can't compete with the likes of zildjian K and A lines. You won't find more high end sounding cymbals than them. Especially K's. I use them myself, after switching from Paiste PST 7s
I must add that the 24" Mega Ride is shockingly darker than what i had expected before it was demo'd. Still a beautiful addition for loud, amplified and even articulated music genres. Awesome job, Paiste. I'm pleased to see that not only you're targeting those who can't afford Signatures, 2002s, 602s, and Masters, but the sound quality in the 900 series mimics those higher end lines.
Paiste has that magic dust. Compared to any other model, of any other brand, Paiste are simply the best. They're all musical. Any of the Sig's, 602's, 2002's, Giant beats..... Ya can't go wrong! I'm through playing other brands
I wouldn't mind running with the large Masters. Great stick definition, awesome wash, and all very crashible. Hell, they all sound great. Paiste are just superior, and super versatile
I would have loved to have heard the Colorsounds. For those who think the 900s were too bright, it would have been nice to hear how much of the brightness would be eliminated by the coating on the colored cymbals.
We heard them during our pre-video booth tour. It doesn't replace hearing them for yourself, but the difference was fairly minimal. A touch less sustain and maybe the cymbal doesn't open up as much under very light playing, but when playing a full kit there wouldn't be a meaningful difference. If you thought the 900s were too bright, going for the Colorsounds wouldn't make you love them. Go for Colorsounds because you want the colour, not because of the slight dryness over the regular 900s.
Like any other career, you apply for the job! It usually requires fairly extensive experience and product knowledge, and most start out in retail at a music store like us!
The problem with starting out in a music store is that I wouldn't make enough to support myself. I was thinking instrument reps could make a lot more money and I could deal with the staff at music stores rather than customers off the street. How much to instrument reps make?
i'm looking in to buying the whole set in colors. i play from rock to metal.i'd pick sound edge hi hat and heavy hi hat + 2' mega ride. would you say i took a good set up? + regular crashes. from 20 to 16 + 2 splashes and 1 18" china.
Paiste needs to,IMO,come up with something comparable to the Signature Line....It's been 25 years since the Signature line came out...They need an "A Custom"to the "A" Zildjian line..I love Paistes but they need a line with versatility without breaking the bank...A better return time frame or 2 years for breaks...And as much as i love em,i do baby them because lets face it,they break...I am by no means hitting them wrong or too hard before anyone jumps on me for saying it....Again,My Opinion.....
Still on the pricey side..Still with a shallow return time..Yes or no MrNickDrummer? That is the biggest complaint i hear from other drummers...They like Paiste..Formula 602 Crash..Not the Vinny line..The other...Over $400.00 for this 18 crash...quite ridiculous,IMO..Is it a year or two on the return policy?
I personally love the Signature line - they sound how I think a cymbal should sound - vibrant and sparkly with sustain, what I imagine expensive diamonds would sound like. If you want high end you need to pay for it - just like any musical equipment...you are not going to get a silk purse for the price of a sow's ear! I have had no problems with cracks with the Signature cymbals I have.
Not too sure about the 900 series. Those rides sound like anvils. I'm guessing they're b8 alloy geared towards guys who like to bash the crap out of their cymbals
Two of my absolute favourites here, which for some reason sound a bit brassy (WHAT'S UP WITH THE MICROPHONE, MAN?) and they are the Signature Fast Medium Crashes - especially the 20" version - it's an absolute monster, with a big, deep boom that just doesn't come out here at all - GRRRR! The Masters are all gorgeous cymbals, but they're a bit thin for me - except for the 22" Swish, which I love - COME TO DADDY! As for the 900s .... it's difficult to tell because the sound quality is SO AWFUL! The salesman sounds loud and boomy and the cymbals all sound throaty and tinny.
We're using a Zoom shotgun mic on an H6 for the cymbals and the presenter is wearing a headset mic. It's about the best we could do given the environment. The lav and shotgun pick up both the cymbals and voice in each mic, so there are some phase issues, and the volume levels for both mics needed to be automated between each cymbal strike to reduce the bleed as much as possible. The noisy convention floor in Hall D at NAMM is about the furthest thing away from a suitable recording environment, so this video and videos like it should be for getting a rough idea of their sound, not critical listening. We'd always recommend hearing cymbals in person to judge how they sound in real life.
I'll be ordering a 900 17" Heavy Crash today or tomorrow. That Nicko McBrain set is amazing sounding! There's a video of him sound testing them on youtube somewhere... Wow. Also, Aziz Ansari is not the greatest at sound testing jazz cymbals.
900 series sound just like sabian AA and AAX rock, metal crashes and stage crashes... and made them bendable just like sabians. amd those masters sound just like sabian artisans...
only people that'll disagree are people who are big and loyal fans of Paiste. Haha. just stupid to just disagree with me, when you already going to say Paiste is the best like a loyal fan would do..
You're entitled to your opinion, But that's all it is, an opinion. Don't put someone down just because they don't share your tastes. I'm a Zildjian guy and I still think these sound great and nothing like Sabian AAXs.
Chris Chandler not putting them down haha. How's that? They just sound like the AA and AAX I said. Certain ones and made them flexible just like them. I used to use paiste. They did sound different. New stuff not so much no more. Haha. I use T-cymbals. Those are quality cymbals great sound cymbals. I was a sabian guy for a long while.
Not quite sure if the salesman was just nervous. But when you're selling a quality product like Paiste cymbals, you had better have your sales pitch down. i.e, his poor use of vocabulary and description of each cymbal. Also you never Strike a cymbal straight down. You swipe it. I'm in no way saying I can do a better job, I just feel as though when you're working for a company like Paiste you put your best foot forward.
At the time this video was recorded, Andrew was working in Artist Relations for Paiste, not necessarily a Product Specialist. Andrew has since moved on from Paiste, and the newer video we shot with Paiste at NAMM 2018 was with Javier. You can watch the new video here ruclips.net/video/yelE4ApM0js/видео.html and you can see that he plays the cymbals with a glancing blow. In terms of vocabulary and description, unless the presenter is just working off a pre-rehearsed script (which we feel is disingenuous), it's difficult to come up with the words to describe the intangible qualities of 20+ different cymbals on the spot with a camera in your face without sounding repetitive. Not to mention that the sound of each cymbal is subjective anyway, so one person's opinion of what is "heavy" or "thin" or "dry" or "explosive" or "expressive" etc might be totally different than another person's. It's best to watch these videos to see and hear the cymbals for yourself. Given the challenges, we think both Andrew and Javier did excellent jobs presenting the Paiste product line up. Thanks for watching and commenting!
These symbols sound great 30 years ago I would have said they are junk these are awesome they got a lot better over the years they sound great compared to those new k series zildjian new 2020 K,s sound like you're beating on a tin can
I have played paiste my entire life, started in 83 nd will never change
Started in 77
Paiste only!!!
That 22 heavy ride has the best bell I've ever heard. Better than some high end rides from Sabian, Zildjian, and Meinl.
That’s because the high end rides from Sabian, Zildjian, and Meinl (and Paiste) are actually trying to sound good.
You're god dam right
the 900 22" ride sounds wicked for a budget cymbal
The 900s sound interesting - love how you can see the cymbal flexing. sound good for a mid to low range cymbal.
Nikola Jandrić these are not a budget cymbal, they are semi-pro . Go check Paiste website!
I posted comments on the videos for Sabian and Zildjian because I like different brands. bonzoleum h
Hi Terry
bonzoleum the guy from Motel California. Total fan of bonzoleum.
I like the heavy 900s - they sound promising.
Great showcase with not too much background noise - the thing that destroys many other convention demonstrations.
Thanks for noticing! We work hard to make sure the audio sounds as clean as possible - a definite challenge considering the environment!
I’ve never ever heard cymbals as musical and beautiful as masters thin - the crashes literally sound like wind blowing! I’m so obsessed I watched about 3 times
They are a bit too bland for me. They give no real punch.
love the 22" ride sound
Paiste have done it again!! Loving the new Giant Beat sizes & Signature Series. Long overdue on the Signature Series, however I wish they could have added a 19in size for the new Fast Medium Crashes.
Love Paiste 🇧🇷🤜🤛
20" 22" and the 24" mega ride are beautiful, I personally like the heavy crash 19" . Great sounds and a great look. The Chinas sound nice.
PLEASE MAKE THE 900 SOUND EDGE HATS IN 15" PAISTE !!!!! thanks PIE guy 4LIFE. 🤘
Paiste is the best sounding cymbals out. Grew up listening to les falconer and him teaching me a lot he is endorsed by you guys. I played Sabian and mienl but nothing like paiste I think it’s time to go full piaste!
Excellent video. Nice details on the cymbals.
paiste masters series... ohhhhhh my God, just amazing
They sound. Paiste! You can. Never compare. These babys with any other brand!
michael mrtinez so agree.
I feel that they just can't compete with the likes of zildjian K and A lines. You won't find more high end sounding cymbals than them. Especially K's. I use them myself, after switching from Paiste PST 7s
i agree, they are worst than any of the competition including wuham
Many Paistes are always on back order...for a reason. The best.
Please tell me your punctuation skills have improved since seven years ago.
WOW!! Paiste's mid Line's of Cymbals sound better than other Makes top Lines. these are Nice!
And my....that 22" Heavy Ride!!!!! 😮 The bell on that thing is spectacular.
I absolutely LOVE mine.
High-hat 15" Masters and 22 heavy ride 900 😍 900 series are awesome
This is hands down the nicest sounding cymbal line i've ever seen.
Uhh...
@@LeakyJAZZ changed my mind lmao
@@pakito9931 good
I've never played a Paiste cymbal I enjoy, but holy cow the 900 series is truly something else
The masters and traditionals are totally awesome) I want a set))
recently added 17" standard crash and 10" splash to the kit and could not be happier. Another homerun Paiste!
Paiste has that magic dust. Compared to any other model, of any other brand, Paiste are simply the best. They're all musical. Any of the Sig's, 602's, 2002's, Giant beats..... Ya can't go wrong! I'm through playing other brands

Great sounding cymbals. I have to buy a set.
very nice cymbals. the flexibility is crazy!
We were nervous when we saw Andrew reefing on the cymbal like that... but obviously he knows how much Paiste cymbals can endure!
The 20" Heavy Crash sounds very similar to the 20" Signature Power Crash.
Mmmmmmm those giant beat and traditionals.
Richard Pine love the old school sound of the giant beats
I would have loved to have heard the Colorsounds. For those who think the 900s were too bright, it would have been nice to hear how much of the brightness would be eliminated by the coating on the colored cymbals.

Ah! Thanks for that review of the Colorsounds. Much appreciated! I actually like the Paiste "sparkle." I think these new cymbals all sound wonderful.
the masters sound amazing!
Oh there's some gems in there to be sure.
7:16 24 masters! Amazing. I like 900's crashes and hats too
the best sound projection and sound color evermaravillosos''
22 inch ride is sick!!! And the 18 heavy crash and the 17" crash
I am liking the spin hats!
Those 900 splashes are amazing
I love this new 900 series, hope it will be somewhat affortable.
From what I've heard they will be priced somewhere around the alpha series.
They said it's gonna be around 10% cheaper than the alpha series.
They are ridiculously affordable!
That swish sounds so dope
i wish they made a 22 or 24 thats a little heavier
in the early 2017s i became a paiste fan and i got a paiste 10'' colorsound slipknot splash and now i play sabian
I think Paiste may be my second favorite cymbal brand, first place going to Zildjian.
Those masters!!! Gotta get one!!!
They sound incredible!
Yes!
Thank you.
900 20 inch heavy ride.
any 15 inch paiste hats
And that 20 inch masters thin crash
PAISTE = Som de excelente qualidade.
Muito boa a sua explicação.
Parabéns.
Great! Now could you do something about the prices?...
The 900 series is expected to be priced comparably to the Alpha line which is one of their more budget-friendly series.
great job Andrew !
I was expecting the Dj cymbals to sound bad but they impressed me a lot. I usually don't like small cymbals or holy cymbals, but those are cool.
How do you become a rep for a drum/cymbal company?
Like any other career, you apply for the job! It usually requires fairly extensive experience and product knowledge, and most start out in retail at a music store like us!
The problem with starting out in a music store is that I wouldn't make enough to support myself. I was thinking instrument reps could make a lot more money and I could deal with the staff at music stores rather than customers off the street. How much to instrument reps make?
👍beatiful PAISTE👍
Great cymbals \m/
A bit tinny sounding, but the rides seem to sizzle.
Would have to hear in person
the 22" and 24" heavy and mega ride are the only cymbals that I think sound decent.
And the Soundedge hats are the cat's ass!! ! Make some 15"'s!
I'll take the 13" please....
i'm looking in to buying the whole set in colors. i play from rock to metal.i'd pick sound edge hi hat and heavy hi hat + 2' mega ride. would you say i took a good set up? + regular crashes. from 20 to 16 + 2 splashes and 1 18" china.
Sounds like a great setup to us for metal!
These are excellent cymbals for the money. Though prices are going up.
The Masters really do flex a lot when played.
holy shit he just bent that Fucking cymbol!!! that's so crazy
the new masters are THE BEST CYMBAL EVER
900 series is the sound when you think "cymbal sound" it would be nice if these will be affordable
They're replacing the Alphas, so they will be pretty affordable.
I definitely want the 18" and 19" crashes. The 14" sound edge hats are nice too. Would really love the 20" ride in blue.
The 20" 2002 crash sounds amazing.
Very 2002-ish... same type of attack and warmth but a little bit of a shorter decay.
wow.. all wow!
900 IS GREATTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I can only imagine how expensive the Nicko McBrain box set must be. $$$$$
Ziljdian is amazing but Paiste is spectacular
The Signature Fast Mediums sound like gated gongs...really an injustice to the beautiful, glassy and crisp sounds that define the Signature line
I've never heard pause sound so bad. Sure glad I still all my vintage k's and Sally billy andy's 😄
Oh lord please take me now!!
Paiste doin what they do best. Making neat, interesting cymbals that I absolutely do not want to play ever lmao.
lol sucks for you
Mex Hurms Well that's your opinion haha
Idk why they mostly focus on b8. I know thats been their main thing for awhile now but b20 paiste cymbals can sound really great too.
Fraiture my favorite paiste cymbals are the b20 masters and signature series. I could get behind b8 2002s tho
2002s are great cymbals, i have a pair of hats and a 18" heavy crash. they sound amazing
900 remind me of Alpha series
They really are multi-function. Use them as cymbals OR as frisbees! Or even a urinal!
That is Aztec not Mayan.
The 20" 900 crash is lovely....but I'm a slave to bigger cymbals.
Kool!!!💥
goes around the both doesnt play nicko`s cymbals. -.-
I drool...
I know they are made for that but 1:32 made me shiver.
They can certainly handle it! If you've ever seen that Timewarp episode with Mike Mangini, all cymbals flex like that even under normal playing.
Paiste *
OH MY...
thin masters - yup
very similar to ziljgian a in tone
PAISTE the best...👍
I’ve gotten into Paiste cuz of Danny Carey, never lookin back.
I'm glad those aren't my cymbals he's hitting straight on.

Two year warranty on all Paiste cymbals.
I personally love the Signature line - they sound how I think a cymbal should sound - vibrant and sparkly with sustain, what I imagine expensive diamonds would sound like. Cool rock cymbals, much cheaper than 2002 or Rude. This Hat is THE BEST) But my Alpha Metal Ride is better) Crashes are very very tasty
These cymbals soun great! But the prices are going to be high.Im with Zildjian they prices are low.Zildjian and k zildjian are number 1.👍
WOW!
Totally out did themselves....

The 17" is definitely lower pitched.
