You have to be joking with some of these. Legendary finals missed off include The 'Matthews final', the epic Arsenal-Man Utd game where it all exploded in the last 20 minutes with Utd coming back from 2-0 down to 2-2 with Alan Sunderland snatching it for Arsenal at the end, the Tottenham-Man City replay with 'that' Ricky Villa goal and probably the greatest upset of all time, 1973, with Sunderland of the second division beating the mighty Leeds 1-0 and the legendary Jimmy Montgomery double save. The 3 favourites for the cup that year by the 4th round were Man City, Arsenal and Leeds after City knocked Liverpool out in the 3rd. Sunderland, at 333-1, beat them all on the way to the trophy
have thought this with many of these, the people who select the list are absolutely clueless
Norman whiteside against Everton. What a goal
I still love the FA Cup but back in the day 70s, 80s & even the 90s it was such an occasion it just felt so much more special, did not matter which teams were in the final you would still watch it and not only was it on both main channels but I remember the program starting 2 full hours before kick off where they would show how both teams got to the final with highlights of each game then loads of interviews and not only with players and ex players but all kinds of famous people asking their predictions etc.
It's such a shame that such a glorious competition has lost some of its sparkle in the eyes of some clubs and managers but I believe the fans still appreciate it what what it is the oldest and best domestic cup competition arguably in the world.
Que sera sera,
Whatever will be will be
Wer'e going to Wembley!
I was working at Wembley catering for the Wigan final. Saw Joe Hart in person he was fuming 😂
Did be shout? : "gimme the fukn pie!"
Steven garrard goal at West ham United
Micah Richards laughing at the achievements of Lineker and Shearer is comical in itself.
Spurs man city ricky villia goal fa cup final
Loving the linekar shearer Richards trio
Did football only start in the 80’s? Where’s the 79 final? the matthews final?
I was about to say that, mine is Sunderland beating Leeds
Aye, or Southampton v Man Utd, Arsen v Man Utd, Chelsea Leeds
Or the 1956 final when Trautmann broke his neck?
Where's your mixer now boys, when I get my brave hat on, Lineker about Wimbledon, then I run down the tunnel. PMSL 😂😂😂
I bet non Liverpool fans got sick of seeing Ian Rush scoring all the time just as much as people got fed seeing Steve Davis win in snooker.
Watching this back all these years later, Gazza should have gone with that first one. Would have saved his Achilles too. Straight red card that.
Grazie Alan è stato un piacere vederti giocare... excuse me for my english
Where's Sunderland beating Leeds in the 1973 Cup Final?
Still think the West Ham v Liverpool game should have been higher. What a match it was.
I'm a Liverpool fan and I have wanted NEWCASTLE to win a TROPHY/ies
(1) Tottenham 3 Man City 2
(2) Tottenham 2 Coventry 3
Whiteside goal v Everton should b on there
66 or 77 or 79 or 83 or 85 or 89 etc..
Arsenal v man United 79....
Man Utd vs Chelsea: 4-0 - Double for Cantona - my 1st and favorite. Close second the Man Utd vs Liverpool: that Cantona goal was out of this world due to the technique used.
Sorry but apart from the Cantona goal that was such a boring match and is oft regarded as one of the worst.
Wimbledon winning in 1988 set the game of football back 15 years
I guess FA cup finals only started in 1986, there was plenty of great games like Sunderland beating Leeds and many others.
Sunderland Leeds immediately came to mind.
Thing is, if one of them turned around and just casually reminded Micah that he was actually a genuinely crap player, he would throw a hissy fit.
Most of these finals were incredibly boring. Liverpool v Arsenal was not bad, but most of the rest were uninspiring. None of these compare with Leeds v Sunderland in 73 and Man U v Arsenal in 79. Don't they know that FA Cup finals have been going on since 1872? Really bizarre.
You still upset about a game that was 50 years ago!??
not watching after seeing the ten picked, what about when Arsenal came from 2 down to Hull City to win?
Almost bottling it but not bottling it in the end when they should've never been 2 down to a relegation-bound team is hardly one for the history books. Probably a great watch for Arsenal fans, but pretty lame for the neutral.
Coventry vs Tottenham was a cracker.
My Favourite
How is Liverpool West Ham not first for them all
As a west ham supporter, it doesn't make my top 50 😄
The other liverpool v everton was better.
The FA cup final is crap these days. It used to be about the fans , the build up , the fact that there could be a romantic story, Unfashionable teams in the final. Now its the same old same old , the teams with the most money buying their way to trophies. The sooner they limit squad sizes and stop pandering to greedy players, the better for all concerned . If Many City win the Treble being by far the richest team, it will mean as little as when Man Utd won the Treble, also being by far the richest team
Why is this saying 11 months ago it was last night lol
Lineker W⚓️
Sunderland 73, not even mentioned, are they kidding? Mind you, with Shearer on the panel, there’s a surprise. And two totally forgettattable finals of his are featured - shocker!
These 3 are comedy gold. Overpaid, may be opinionated at times but entertaining they are, MOTD wasn't the same when it was boycotted
Gary misses out so much about the Spurs/Forest final. It's not one Forest fans forget easily and possibly the worst refereeing display I've ever seen.
Gazza should have been sent off. Simple as that. He nearly stopped Gary Charles having kids and I can't remember who the other challenge was against but it was atrocious. It was weird, because whenever I watched Forest now and even a lot of the time back then, the narrative always seems to be about the other team, but on this occasion, with it being the one trophy Clough had never won, it was a little more focussed on us. And then that changed. Because the ref allowed Gazza to be carried off rather than sending him off, it all became about 'poor old Gazza' and you could just feel a shift in things.
Our goal should have been disallowed. I think it is Lee Glover who shoves on Arsenal player right out of the very spot where Pearce puts the ball. Fantastic free kick but shouldn't have been allowed. Gary's goal should have stood, the goal that did stand should have been disallowed, and the whole thing was a complete mess.
To be fair, I think alcoholism had overtaken Clough by then and as he sat there at the end of ninety minutes saying nothing to the players you have to wonder whether we would have won a fairly contested game. I can't remember whether it was Keane or Hodge but I think he had played one and left out the other, but he could have brought him on at this point and the fresh legs might have won us the game. Instead he sat there with folded arms and we just watched in disbelief as it slipped away from us. Not a happy memory.
In terms of matches they really should have included, Arsenal vs Man Utd in 1979 and Spurs vs Man City seem like terrible omissions, although perhaps the latter is because the truly dramatic stuff happened in the replay. The former really should be in there either way though.
Man United Vs Liverpool 1977 when we stopped Liverpool winning a treble
How the hell has Shearer carved out a media career. Offers nothing
BBC because he was captain of England
gary, liverpool were better we won the double,,,,,,tut tut
Richards is apc pundit mouthpiece....false too
These 3 biased by any chance please give me a break. How about man utd beating Liverpool in 77 to stop them from doing the treble or Utd beating Newcastle in 99 to go on & do the treble just sayin.
I had to to switch this off at 8 mins. Richards laughing is so annoying, if you said " Grass is green " he'd probably die laughing, he would laugh at anything!
Micah Richards forced laugh has ruined these shows + he also has no memory of any football past 15 yrs ago ,Ian Wright was far better
