I grew up making these old KK models, so for me this build is very cool - I've never thought of putting tissue over laminating film before, done it over silkspan just for decoration. I've read in the past the Doculam needs to be wiped with vinegar prior to painting - is that necessary? Have you tried ordinary nitrocellulose dope instead of the water based poly?
Hi, thanks for the comment, I have never painted laminating film so I can really advise on that sorry. With respect to dope, I always use water based polyurethane as I find it a much easier and more pleasant medium to work with. I have used tissue over laminating film and lot and its a great technique, I really like it 😀
It work really well with silk, so don't see why it would not work with polyester, although I have not tried it. I will be doing some videos with silk over laminating film in a few weeks. Pleaed you like it, thanks for the comment.
Your patient, diligent approach to building has reaped a well deserved reward - she's looking very well Mark!
Thank you very much, appreciate the comment 😀
Looks great! Can’t wait to see it in the air!
Thanks very much, won't be long now, hopefully
Cracking job, love the look, definitely got it right,as always brilliant build.
Awesome, thank you, greatly appreciate your comment
Good morning Mark. I really like it. Tissue went on really well. And I think the KK logo would look good on the fuselage sides.
Thanks 👍Terry, really appreciated
Looks fab!
Going to look great on the ground, and very visible in the air.
Hope you can beat the weather!!
Fingers crossed! Thanks very much, appreciate the comment
Love it
That Black tissue looks smooth over the clear film, if I didn't know it was tissue I would think it was silk span
Thanks for the comment, pleased you liked it
Hi Mark, where can the plans be located. A top build thanks
Thanks, pleased you like it. Here is a link to the plans - outerzone.co.uk/plan_details.asp?ID=1359
Something is needed on the sides just to break the black up a little bit and maybe an outline around the windows

Looking good Mark👍. Have you tried this technique with polyester instead of tissue? I'm thinking of doing a larger model.
