I've had a clone circuit pedal for years and the one thing I've always loved about it is that just by turning it on the sound is automatically sweetened. I've always just left it on without the gain stage just for that effect. It seems to cut some of the low end but it just adds so much when I'm playing in the bedroom. I honestly didn't get the "Klon" thing with the gain stage until you get into a mix with a band and an amp running fairly hot. Then the mid boost thing really allows the guitar to cut through nicely. My take is that the Klon and all the circuits following it really, really shine in a mix with a band and an amp running hot. Your pedal sounds really great here and I'm sure many will find it useful. Love your content :)
Didn't know you were from Sparta. I grew up in Baxter lol. Had friends in Sparta, John Henry Demps who was a well known fiddle player there and ran the Midway Music Barn. I still have a fiddle I bought from him. Small world!
Love this series! Great way to get to know a pedal, in sound and story. Also love the boldness of ditching the charge pump. Does that give flexibility in terms of users being able to feed it 18V for more opamp headroom, or is that still not recommended? (As a pedal builder I realize sanctioning 18V usage is often a recipe for disaster, but I’m curious anyway!)
Quick question. I noticed that the Wildwood edition was also updated for 2023. How different are the two? From a circuit standpoint? I know you removed the charge pump but the 2023 Wildwood still retains it. I adore my Ikon. So which one should I get? Mjolnir or Wildwood?
Yert! I want me one of them there geetar pedals Zach. Shout out from Cook Vegas. Which one would you recommend for a Tele running into a Matchless DC 30?
I have a Mjolnir in the same enclosure as the std gold one, but its silver and it’s w/ Ge diodes w/c I ordered from your site. Why wasn’t it included in the comparison? Wanted to know how it is different from the std gold, the joey landreth, the mass street Ge and the wildwood one. Thank you.
I have two on my board- the new wildwood for its overdrive and the new gold standard mjolnir for a boost. The wildwood is brighter than my gold one - it lowers the bass and increases the high midrange - sounds amazing into a mid scooped amp.
Cool video. Cool pedal. Josh has youtube figured out, though. His channel is much more appealing because it isn't self-promotional, really. It ends up making his own products more appealing when he describes, for example, how excellent Behringer units are. JHS isn't any better than Mythos, I feel sure, but Josh's youtube game is stronger for never really being a commercial. Mason at Vertex is creating the same thing as what you have here - this is a commercial. Maybe give us more than a "here is the only overdrive you need because it is the one WE make." I suggest this with love and appreciation - nothing harsh intended! Keep on making killer stuff!
Dude, it's a very good presentation from the guy that designed and built the thing. Just take it on its face... and look at other stuff he's doing. ffs...
So I have this one you are playing in this video, does it not have germanium diodes like ever single other one that you mentioned in this video and unless I missed it don’t tell shot about the diodes in the pedal you are actually demoing. Did I get the only one with shitty diodes is my real question which is why you just call them “specific” diodes and if you removed the charge pump just because people are stupid then joke was on me when I bought this pedal I’m thinking right now, because it cost the same as G diode pedals.
This Mjolnir doesn't have germanium diodes, nor does it have shitty diodes lol It has a great diode pair that sounds great. I removed the charge pump because folks kept blowing it up and I'm actually REALLY happy with how it sounds without the charge pump.
@@MythosPedals It does sound great, it has become my always on clean boost. My tone has absolutely benefitted, I just like to geek out on this stuff and study spec's.
Play it into a real amp and use multiple amps if you use a dsp might as well use a digital effect program and not a pedal. Not trying to be negative I have both and use both but honestly my pedals all sound amazing way better plugged into tube amps.
What? Not normally the case. We're a small team here and handle all issues as best we can if you ever want to try Mythos again and have an issue I will take care of it.
It’s a good unit. Not really anything new or groundbreaking. This crusade of finding the holy grail of overdrives, to me, is a quest for an endless vocabulary and emotional expression. There is no magic bullet. Just a suit, that looks good and then, it’s time for a pair of worn sneakers and sweat pants. That new set of tires, well aligned and that day, you drove like a bat out of hell and got away with it. You get the picture. There is no one overdrive, Swiss knife pedal. Otherwise we would have stopped at the Tubescreamer- The Klon-King if Tone-Those old Boss overdrives-Xotic-so on and so on. I have at least 5 and I sold, traded and returned, over 20. This pedal, sounds like an OCD. I have one, I like it but I have other and like those too. Great playing.
Well said. I look at it a very similar way: each tones is just another shade of a colour on an artist's palette. You can never have enough colours - the colours you need on a given day will just depend on the picture you're painting on that day.
Thank you for doing these. Sets you apart further.

Damn, I could watch this video just to listen to the intro track. Love it
I'm happy to have a Wildwood Mjolnir.
Well-built and reliable pedal.
Thanks, Zach!

Very cool!
Fantastic builds, fantastic tone and playing! Great personality comes across very well💪👏🙏 All the best
I bought the original one in the big case from you and I still love it. Thanks
Have the Zeus versions of the gold and the Wildwood. The gold is bright and the Wildwood is smooth. Love them both!
Done a great job on that series of pedals .the zz top pedal looking like it's o my Christmas list to my self a lot lighter to carry than a 5150 lol
Never leaves my board, and my board is a fickle and faithless beast!

So the compact Germanium Mod version is also without the Klon charge pump?
Love, love, love my Wildwood Mjolnir. Peace

The wildwood is well tweaked to sound as close to my Klon as possible. If you like the Ikon then the wildwood is for you
What do you have the pickup heights set at on your new silver sky?
I raised them up to have a better balance and output. I always just do it by ear and feel while playing
I have the Zeus version that I got in 2021 at Carter Vintage when I was in Nashville and that thing is never leaving my board.
Sounds good !
Yert! I want me one of them there geetar pedals Zach. Shout out from Cook Vegas. Which one would you recommend for a Tele running into a Matchless DC 30?
A mjolnir would be great for that! Man I gotta come back I haven’t been to Cookeville in ages.
Fun fact... 1666 was the year of the 'Great Fire of London' when most of the central section of the city burned down.
Thank you.
It sounds pretty good. Very much similar to the other 1000's of overdrive pedals out there.
As much as I want this pedal I already have a Bad Monkey. But if something ever happens to my bad monkey….
I have two on my board- the new wildwood for its overdrive and the new gold standard mjolnir for a boost. The wildwood is brighter than my gold one - it lowers the bass and increases the high midrange - sounds amazing into a mid scooped amp.
Ge Mjolnir silver can use 18v for high headroom

I Could listen to that intro everyday haha wtf
SOLD!
how exactly does one "blow up" this pedal? - kinda want to avoid that.
Depends on the pedal. For a Klone type avoid anything above 9 volts into the pedal
@@MythosPedals So I ordered one from Mass Street, the description says you can run 18V for more headroom. Is that just for this version?
@@Kuztomshop If it's a BRAND NEW one yes you can :)
Ok, I have the Zeus version, so it has the pump thing? And is that a “bad”thing? Got confused, sorry.
Same
It’s bad if you plug 18v into it, just don’t do that.
@@kere92 ok that’s easy enough, cheers. I am happy with it, very happy, would be keen to hear the difference with the newer Wildwood version.
THIS! Exactly just don't put anything more than 9V into an older one
@@MythosPedals so which version has the charge pump?
The strymon bridge is a thing I actually have a mythos bridge on my pedal board.

My mjolnir came all noisy and it was impossible to play, my first mythos - and such disaster… Chinese pub was another story…
My Golden Fleece was disappointing me too….sold it 😢
Are you trolls? Sound like it

Every pedal builder says THE ONLY OVERDRIVE YOU'LL EVER NEED....funny
First
added bass and reduced treble... I'm out
There is still plenty of treble
Sounds great, but the new style artwork is boring. Its like the pedals have lost your brand identity.
I finally feel like my brand had cohesion.
@@MythosPedals I love the new look. There is definitely cohesion and I believe the typeface designs have a timeless quality.
If you want a Strat, buy a real one.
I wanted a silver sky because I like it more than most strats
Thanks buddy
The modifications sound good to me (9V, less treble).
