Wow Trucker Josh, I've never seen you on the verge of frustration trying get your pins locked into place. You did a great job keeping your channel family friendly. Take care and drive safely on your trip to Texas.
Truckers are the heartbeat of America! Thankyou
I agree!
Josh. When the truck is in your shop out of the weather. You can clean the pins and grease them with dry-lube. This helps a lot because the dried-lube does not catch so much dirt from the roads.
What stood out to me driving Texas interstates was how international the truck traffic was. Over the summer on Interstate 30 between Dallas and Little Rock, it was like "American, Mexican, Mexican, Canadian, Canadian, Canadian, American" as I was passing trucks. And I write this being used to sharing my local interstates with Canadian truckers. Safe travels down to the border and back!
There's a lot to know about driving a truck. Thanks for taking the time to explain. Can't wait for tomorrow's video.
I love seeing the behind the scene so call moving pins its the part of trucking people dont see and i havent seen you do it in a while or show it on the channel
The first time I saw a palm tree was when I was on the road with my brother in law driving a mack truck. It was in Florida. I had him pull over so I could touch it!
I have a good idea garb fuel very night on your way to Mexico you have a very very fill tank before you start your day and refuel at night before bed
🌹❤️🌹 Going to Texas ? What a road trip . Different sights to see . Might want to have some Bar BQ while in Texas . The magic is in the sause. Happy trails 💚🌲💚
Can't wait to see your truck all detailed. Palm trees have that affect on me too. Hope you get to see your palm trees. Sorry for Brit to be left in the snow, but glad for you to be out of the snow. The closeness of the trailer looked fine to me, until, you explained what can happen if the trailer is too close to your headache rack. Maybe the reason the back of your truck is called a headache rack, for just the reason you explained why you don't want the trailer too close. And a very good way to look at all the work that goes into making things right the first time. Less headache in the end. I can't believe how much truck drivers go through to get a job done. You really do need a lot of patients and perseverence. Thank you for sharing! Hope you're trip is or has been a good and safe one!
There are IN-N-OUT burgers in Texas ... they all have palm trees in front of them 😊
A little grease on those dry pins and sliders will go a long way Trucker Josh!
I used to love going to Texas. Driving through all the pepper fields in west Texas. Make sure you stop for some roadside bbq. Have fun Josh.
Thanks for the trucking lesson today Josh!
I had the opposite experience as you: I live in California and am surrounded by palm trees, and last year I went up to Calgary and saw my first-ever moose! I had no idea they were so freaking big!
the term fith-wheell comes from the horse and cart days. the cart would have 4 wheels and, originally, a fixed front axle which made turning difficult. to alleviate this, a "wheel" was fixed to the underside of the cart which allowed the fron axel to articulate / turn. it was thus named the 5th wheel :)
I have been looking so forward to this trip. Thanks for the set-up, quite interesting. Thanks for having me along.
Been a while since I watched much, given that I've started driving myself, but glad to see that you and Blue are doing good. Enjoy the drive to Texas!
Enjoy the palm trees if find them, enjoy a little Texas BBQ also, have a safe trip.
Hello Josh - glad you are coming to our state of Texas........"Welcome"! If u like BBQ, some of the best is in Central Texas where I'm from. Also hope u like meat. But we do have tons of diversity when it comes to food. Also we have great MUSIC 🎶, not just country-western but also Southern Blue's 🎶But please be careful at the border. Not always safe down there at the border areas. Some "shady people". Our Texas Gulf Coast is great too. We native Texans are "friendly people" but can't speak for all the transplants living here from "everywhere", yea even from New York. LOL 😂 praying for all Truckers, stay safe.🙏🇺🇲🇺🇲💯🤗🎶
Oh one more thing, Texas weather is very different including winters compared to other states. It was up to 71 degrees today, but in December it got down to 12 degree's for a week. During the day temperature goes up & sunny. South Texas is warmer compare to rest of Texas. The Texas Gulf Coast is great & yes a ton of Palm trees there. LOL!😄 Good luck & stay safe Truckers. Again THANKS for coming to our state.👍🇺🇲💯🤗
Your problem solving skills are great. No sarcasm intended.
how about spraying some lube in the 5th wheel slide lock pins
Enjoy the warm weather
Safe trucking to the lone star state and back TJ!!!
Have an trip
Us northerners, we have a thing for palms trees 😂❤️
Thank you for explaining how to slide the 5th wheel. For someone who doesn't know anything about trucks thst was highly interesting. Safe journey to Texas 🌴🌴🌴
Fantastic explanation about the fifth wheel. Thank you very much! 🙏
We would be happy for more such detailed explanations!
Hey TJV, it's called a 5th wheel as back in the day trucks only had 2 axles 4 wheels plus the turntable + 5 wheels... As for the 5th wheel hydraulic pins, EU/UK/AUST trucks have the same locking mechanism as you have when pulling the kin pin.. A much easier and simple process.
Thanks for the info
@@icaacfriedman8552 you're welcome mate
Tip from an old driver. Carry Dawn dish detergent with you. Put a lot on and around the pins. It’s a great lubricant and will wash away in the rain. Grease accumulates dirt and grime, Dawn washes it away. I even use it to slide the tandems on the trailer.
Be careful out there. That’s an order, not a request.
Quite a few palm trees out in the 'Inland Empire' area of southern California - San Bernardino, Riverside, PALM Springs, etc.......
The little bungee is for your back flap handle
After all these years you finally get to see the good part of the world. I'm so happy for you. There's nothing better than seeing real people. Safe travels. Doug
Hope u get a real vacation soon. It's deserved.
I'm looking forward to your journey Texas-bound! Obviously, being a week behind, its great that you made it back safe and sound. 😀
I love to see the day in the life of all that trucking has to offer. Get job explaining and showing the whole process. Have a great trip!
Drive Safe Josh, and please Don’t Rush!
Sure sounds like it would be fun to go on a trip with you.
I do multiple full details a day here at an auction in Phoenix. I love it. Hard on the body though. I want to drive trucks
Lube the 5th wheel pins with some oil. Will help you out a lot!
Looks like you need a little BullSnot GreaseABull Spray Grease. GreaseABull is good to -40 degrees.
heres why its called the 5th wheel Josh " The name actually comes from the company that first utilized the hitch in the early 1900s. The Martin's Fifth Wheel Company named their device after the round shape of the hitch. Hence, the hitch itself is the “fifth wheel.” Before the introduction of the new kingpin, the device itself was in the shape of a wheel.
Great video! plam trees and 5th wheel!
When in doubt slide the 5th wheel.
6,000# all the way to Texas is Super Duper.
Josh's 2 favorite trees 🌲🌴
Stay safe
I agree with you Josh about palm trees 🌴 although Texas palm trees are not as quite beautiful as Florida or California palm trees.
I missed you you came into my state I live in Dallas. Btw
You got to go down to McAllen to see palm trees.
Josh, just started the clip and meet suggestion for opening hood. Next time push up and loft from under fender by steep tires. Learned that after way to mean years opening it from the top center like you did. It takes a little got till in shoulders and can cause shoulder replacement surgery down the road.
Just check out how close the trailers are on European Trucks. It amazes me that they do not hit the back of the Tractor but they dont..
The pins should know your the boss
been showing your videos to my 4 year old grandson, now he's talking back to my gps and calling her Karen!
🤣🤣
Yes, and cactus too!
I honestly do not recall you ever coming this far south I’m so excited 😂😂
Yeah that's a good choice in the winter time
Call it the nineteenth wheel!
Safe Travels Josh!!
If you have time stop at The Big Texan Steak house in Amarillo TX they have truck parking but if full park at the Petro it’s a short walk to the steak house. Well worth the stop 👍🏼
It's always interesting to view your driving adventures throughout Canada and the USA...
Yes, there are palm trees in Laredo. I wish I could see you when you're down here. I'd buy your lunch, Trucker Josh.
6,000 LBs , Josh you could take that with your Chevy 1/2 ton eh ? Joking , have a safe run Buddy and bring back some warm weather
Thanh you very much
Hi Trucker Josh great video looks like you had some fun getting back in Old Blue and you have all of us some good advice on the road have safe trip god bless 🙏
You will see plenty of Palm trees in Texas!!🌴🌴🌴
I'm with you about palmtrees! Can't wait to watch your trip to Texas.
Drive safe
Don't forget your cowboy hat!
Nice truck
Hi Josh have a good trip my friend and take care!!!!!
I have been looking at palm trees last few days sitting n California now on way back to Ontario
I know it’s a weekly difference, but if you make it down hear again, and you are traveling down I27…the Toot n Totem in Plainview has some good BBQ.
Great vlog! There are plenty of palm trees in Canada just not in the frozen part where Josh lives. I have six large 18 foot palms in my backyard here on Vancouver Island.
I saw my first 🌴 last week. I'm doing a road trip right now. I started from Miami, and my endpoint will be Seattle. I hope to get there on the 13th.. have a nice trip Josh
Yes
I can't believe you had your bright lights on driving into a truck stop
I hope you are hauling border wall parts
Being that it will be a long trip south and that it’s a light load I would have kept that gap as tight as possible. remember, the smaller you make that gap the less wind drag thus less money on fuel win win
our shop uses PB Blaster on our sliding fifth wheel pins. Bullsnot probably has a product similar to that. A little shot from time to time couldn't hurt.
Josh you might try putting a little grease on the fifth wheel slide looked a little rusty and dry
❤❤❤keep it going Trucker Josh❤️❤️❤️
5th wheel moving is always a pain to do
I was waiting on u to get the ol bulls not out and lube those pins up. Not sure when ur in Texas but if its Friday and Saturday im doing a reset at the flying j in Waco on 35
Theres a couple of palm trees here in Laredo. Welcome to TX
I seen some at the beginning of the week in Texas, now I'm over here in North Carolina and it's ice cold
Good one - I like all the trailer hook up info 0 U should see the bike riders in Toronto !
You need to spray your pins with WD-40
wow josh they,re a different set up of a Fifth wheel(we call them a turntable here in australia,)i,m not sayng they,re not here but i,m 50 mate and i was born into the industry and i can honestly say i,ve never seen them here in Australia,to get our axle weights right we had to move freight around at the place we loaded and go across the weighbridge till the weights right, take care mate as always awsome video
Everything is bigger in Texas !!
Great
You need more aggressive drives and steers just my opinion as you get into various situations..
Safe trip
good job👍🚛🇺🇲
Great video Sir
2,800 km trip?! Wow!
Welcome 🤘🏽
Why is there no grease on the pins that lock the 5 wheel? .what i have done once picked the right trailer but left the paperwork in the office😂 ,not to big of a problem. u got got plenty of sun cream josh,

Just saying
There is a rest area before you get to Laredo Texas.
I've been there. Really pretty place.
I think T/A. is the safer truckstop. Lol
It's been 12 years since I was there.😊
Look Josh is back in my stomping grounds SF/Tea, and again I wasn’t there. Or maybe I was hmm 🤔 nope was in TX and now in NE unloading then back to SF to reload to AZ.
