I adore Clive Brook, the epitome of the "stiff upper lip" romantic English gentleman. His characters were stalwart examples of honor and doing the right thing no matter the cost. My favorite films of his are "Shanghai Express" with Marlene Dietrich and "If I Were Free" with Irene Dunne. They don't make them like him anymore.

He always seemed a bit wooden to me. As we say that "stiff upper lip" type character. Sorry to hear that he didn't trust the USA to protect his family and children. Although 1932 was the Lindbergh kidnapping, so.... maybe he made the right choice!
