Alright alright. Everyone thinks Krispy Kreme won. I feel like appearance wise they won for sure bc my holes were too big. But texturally mine were better IMO. Out of sheer votes I’d like to do something I’ve never done before... I’m changing the winner. Krispy Kreme wins by count of votes.

He completely missed the point of Krispy Kreme. You stop when that sign is lit up that says hot and fresh. Get yourself a still molten glazed donut or two and a cup of coffee or milk. It barely requires chewing and there's nothing quite like it. For other donuts I'll go to the local chain and get a bacon maple or pastry cream filled one.

I've never had them hot, only had them in american supermarkets cold with that thin sugary shell that cracks when u bite into it. I can't comment on it hot but cold is just iconic for me. Also I live outside the US. I miss Krispy Kreme😔

I did Joshua's donuts to test this, and I went scientific on it. I've done them at least half a dozen times and given them to my parents, my siblings, my inlaws, my gf, my grandparents, and none of them feel like they have to say anything to me to make me feel better about myself, so they ALL including myself think krispy kreme's are still way better. Yes you get a more artesanal flavor and added textures on Joshua's ones, but I'm sorry to say krispy's are unbeatable, they have something you can't match.

I love all Josh recipe but I can tell KK glazed still be my favorite. For someone like me who always choose savory food, 1 donut is more than enough. But KK glazed is so light and kind of refreshing for a donut. I can eat half dozen of it. None can beat that. haha
I feel like this is the first episode where Josh really didn’t win.
It’s based on your preference but I personally don’t like darker more dense donuts. I feel like they were just two different styles of donut and not a good comparison. Usually it’s very clearly his that’s better but idk this one wasn’t it chief.

You can clearly see the "bread"-like crumb of his donuts when he breaks them apart. Heck, he even used AP flour, so we know those were nothing like the beloved and heavenly clouds which emanate from KK's konveyors.
It seems like he didn’t really go for total replication on this. Just tried to make a better donut in general. But I think they’re too different to accurately compare.

Krispy Kreme donuts are fundamentally different to what you made because they are air extruded into rings. Its this process that helps make them so light and fluffy because they aren't being bashed around by human hands.
The fluffiness of a Krispy Kreme donut remains a mystery to me... how do they stay so fluffy ?!?!?

This was the episode I've been waiting for cause I've never found a homemade donut recipe that is as good as Krispy Kreme. The amount of effort was always too much when it isn't as fluffy. I'm pretty sure that after cutting out the doughnuts there is a second rise which results in the fluffier doughnut, which isn't shown in this episode. I guess it depends on preference, but when I imagine a classic Krispy Kreme doughnut, it has got to be fluffy.

Krispy Kreme is hard to beat. Even if the shape and look was the same, I don't think they'd be better personally. Somewhat healthier and not sacrificing as much taste? Sure. But Krispy Kreme is just on another level.

I made his burnt cheesecake yesterday, and honestly, its probably better than the plain cheesecake, and with a much more complex flavor

@@viethuongvothai686 I have made the recipe. Followed the video as best as I could the holes were the same size but the donuts were way too dense. Its supposed to mimic a kk donut but it was one of the most dense non cake doughnut I've had. Don't get me wrong it was still good but nowhere near kk.
@@Special97Force 6:30 is all I need to know. I went to a local donut shop before and they had fluffy glazed donuts and almost everything else were dense cakey donuts. Don't get me wrong, those cakey donuts were amazing, but comparing fluffy donuts and cakey donuts are like comparing a ripe papaya and an unripe papaya. The ripe papaya taste pretty good and the unripe papaya can make a good papaya salad. They have good sides and bad sides, but lumping them together is not the brightest idea.

Forgot to let the dough rise after cutting it into shape. It should also be known that the typical donut is fried in peanut oil, which gives it it's name. Still looks really good despite it being on the skinny side with a burned edge.
I'm watching this video way after the fact. But I will say this is the first and only time I have seen one of your "But Better" videos and instantly felt that there was no way you would make a better plain glazed donut than Krispy Kreme. there can be too much sugar. Few years back a Dunkin Donut opened in my city here in Germany. Tried it out of curiosity and it was so much sweeter than basically the same product from our local bakerys that I couldnt finish the donut. It had tons of glaze and I thought about removing that but I was on the go and didnt know how to without making a mess of myself. The Dunkin Donut is still open today and I honestly wonder how. Ive rarely seen people there a few weeks after the opening.

KK is one of those things that is literally perfect the way it is. There is nothing they can do to improve on their hot doughnuts. The glaze is perfect. Taste is perfect. Texture... You need to do a copycat of KK, because the only thing you could do is make one close. Can't beat them.
