Thanks for reminding me about I Bought a Vampire Motorcycle. I'd totally forgotten about that. Saw it on vhs back in the day and it was crazy seeing those british TV stars in such a crazy film. I'll be seeking this one out again.
Vampire motorcycle one kd my faves i love Neil morrisey too, men behaving badly was one of my all time favourite TV shows, despite series 1 being Harry Enfield, Julie strain did some adult stuff too, seen 3 of the ones in here, good selection Josh
I hate when people respond to a question with “It’s just a movie/show”. Like if they don’t want to think or question a movies lore that’s fine, then just don’t participate when other people are discussing it. Sadly you see this all across the internet in every fandom.
@@rooksdoubleohseven9919 but that’s the fun part. It’s making sense out of the senseless. Some people love being creative and other people just don’t have a creative bone in their body. And that’s ok.
the issue i have with the response is that it's usually stated in a condescending way. people like me and others that come with these fun theories are usually very aware that the actual answer is down to writing errors and mistakes. when someone comes back with "it's just a movie," there's almost always this underlying implication that i'm not aware of that or something. the reason i don't think it's a valid response is that it's not even part of the discussion. to me, it's the equivalent of someone making me an awesome cake, but never saying what the ingredients are, and how they get it to taste so good, and i say "your secret ingredient is love." and then someone walks in and says, "actually, it's just a cake. there's no love in there."
i have, but that's not what we're talking about here. that's a response to a pretty specific situation, as opposed to what was first brought up. what Peter was bringing up is when people are having a general discussion about media, which is where about 99% of those "but it's just a movie" show up. i'll also point out that in your scenario, i still don't think it's a valid response. the combative part of that situation only comes up AFTER the person has tried to refute the person claiming there's meaning. saying "but it's just a movie" is still a condescending tactic to take there, and is likely WHY the person would get argumentative after. that response says "you're wrong and don't get it" before the other person does. if the response was something like, "i don't really see that in it myself," then you have a different argument.
Neil Morrissey at the time was a lead in the long running motorbike courier/detective comedy drama Boon. It was a busman’s holiday to do I Bought A Vampire Motorcycle. The other cast from Boon had cameos if memory serves.
Also holy crap Rubber, the first time one of these lists includes a movie I’ve actually seen! Real talk tho, I saw Rubber about 2 months before I saw Nope and I could see a lot of parallels in the spectacle of people watching the tire/trying to capture the creature. Unexpected synergy for a double feature.
I've seen chompy and the girls a little while back when I noticed it on tubi. I really enjoyed it. I like movies that aren't part of the norm. Rubber was the same way but I don't think it was on tubi. I was glued to the story and I'm a big fan of wings Hauser from vice squad and the many movies that weren't as big as his career should've been. With the small part in rubber.
The band Tables Scraps has a song called Motorcycle (Straight To Hell). The main lyric is "I bought a vampire motorcycle". Monster Magnet did a cover of it.
Great video ! How about a unanswered questions episode for planet of the apes ? Question #1- if the forbidden zone is basically New York city. Where do those mountains come from
The only film I've seen on the list is I Bought a Vampire Motorcycle. What I have seen of Rubber kind of reminds of a Marty Feldman skit called The Tyre.
I think I Bought a Vampire Motorcycle an Rubber deserve to be in a list of its own: inanimate killer objects which come to life, and we'll have a good selection of them: from the most obvious Christine to Occulus (killer mirror), Slaxx (killer pants!), Killer Sofa (pretty self explanatory ) just to name a few.
I also saw 964 Pinocchio through tape trading in the late 90s. No subtitles and I was baffled. I should give it a watch with subtitles now. Just watched Chompy and the Girls last week and was pleasantly surprised, it was better than it had any right to be for sure.
Great list - have only seen two of those, will need to check out the rest. If you haven't, you need to check out "Dawn Breaks Behind the Eyes" - a fairly recent 70s gothic horror throwback. Very wild & trippy but with a surprisingly deep and layered story.
Dont normally comment but love this channel. Watch lots on youtube but always check if the is a new movie timelines video up first... plenty of new stuff all the time. Just want to thank you for the work you put in.
I tried watching rubber and I couldn't get past the first 10 minutes. I've never heard of any of these others I might try them out and see if I can get past the first 10 minutes.
The robots in Exterminator City look like Dick Spanner, which was a great little late 80's stop motion animation show on Channel 4, man I miss when TV was cool. Also, Chompy and the girls is awesome, weird as f**k but really enjoyable lol
Please cover Altered. THAT movie actually frightened me on a weird level. It was actually a decent movie even though it was low budget and hardly even recognized.
There's this adult horror film I wish more people discussed. I couldn't find it anywhere, not even pics of it. "Forced Entry" (2002) by Rob Black. He went to jail on charges of obscenity because of some the films his company, Extreme Associates, made. I figured it'd be interesting for a video.
I've only seen Rubber, which I really liked, out of all those but I need to search for these. Have you reviewed The Greasy Strangler? Another insane horror film.
There's something about Rubber that seems smug and self congratulatory that I find offputting. I much prefer a movie like Night of the Lepus, about giant killer rabbits, that for all its ridiculousness takes itself dead serious.
I was surprised it was so enjoyable because the concept of a tire becoming sentient seemed so bonkers, I thought it would just be a gimmick movie, but it works on so many more levels than that.
I won't take the Criterion collection seriously until Fish Piss is added.
The laugh I gave at the robots sword fighting.
The way I scream laughed at everything on the screen from I Bought a Vampire Motorcycle
That background looks like you're hanging out in the "Maniacal Cinefile's" bedroom. 🤣👍
Thanks for reminding me about I Bought a Vampire Motorcycle. I'd totally forgotten about that. Saw it on vhs back in the day and it was crazy seeing those british TV stars in such a crazy film. I'll be seeking this one out again.
That sword fight from Exterminator City looks just like the sword fighting scene from Blade 😏
Club dread should be on everybody crazy lists
I'm glad there's other people who know about I Bought a Vampire Motorcycle, I love this film and it was made in my home city of Birmingham, England.
Vampire motorcycle one kd my faves i love Neil morrisey too, men behaving badly was one of my all time favourite TV shows, despite series 1 being Harry Enfield, Julie strain did some adult stuff too, seen 3 of the ones in here, good selection Josh

you'll see it in the comments of pretty much every other one of my videos. lol.

i guess what i'm saying is that i don't see the difference between "but it's only a movie" and "why are you wasting time discussing this?"
Love Chompy and Rubber. The movie 'Killer Sofa' is also a fun flick
Rubber is such a crazy fun film, a lot better than one would expect!
I remember "Exterminator City". It was on some sci-fi/horror DVD 4-pack I picked up way back. Probably from superstore bargain bin.

i'm not sure about a UQ episode, but there's definitely some Ape content coming soon.

Holy moly, I can’t believe you’re talking about Exterminator City

i have something like this planned, although i'm not sure for when.
Def some weird ones..Will have to check out, thanks for the suggestions.

I saw that big ass tire in the thumbnail and I just had to click on this 😆
Chompy and the Girls is excellent.

the opening scene of Rubber is taking the piss on Magnolia I'd almost argue the entire film is shots fired at PT Anderson

I'd have to watch that black birds movie with sunglasses. Just those clips gave me a headache
Raven haves a touch of iridescence.
as do you, sir.
I suppose these selections can be called, extreme independent new wave. Why not...or just WTF movies.
I've only seen Rubber, which I really liked, out of all those but I need to search for these. Have you reviewed The Greasy Strangler? Another insane horror film.
Josh sometimes I ask myself. Why do you torture yourself like this. Thanks for the sacrifice
Gutboy is the grown up inside out boy

Bob the builder had a weird history
I didn't think I'd like Rubber, but I gave it a shot and I loved it.
I was surprised it was so enjoyable because the concept of a tire becoming sentient seemed so bonkers, I thought it would just be a gimmick movie, but it works on so many more levels than that.
where do u find these? lol
I hated 'Rubber' but maybe I should give it another go. I really like Roxane Mesquida, at least.
OMG I Bought A Vampire Motorcycle looks amazing. 100% a movie made for me.

I've seen 964 and Rubber. DIdn't like Rubber as much. I saw the director's other films, I just don't like his vibe. Looking forward to Gutboy.
Gutboy is great.
Ravens have beards. Just so ya know.
You should watvh finnish horror comedy Bunny killer thing, it is so baaaad..
I honestly found Rubber to be over hyped, disappointing and boring to watch.
I cant imagine how many terrible films you have had to watch. Just so we dont have to. I feel you deserve some nighthood or something
I don't like Rubber
