I love that you put up the settings used for each image. I just purchased the A6400 and iam learning how to utilise the settings better. I am absolutely gobsmacked. This is beyond next-level and otherworldly, right now. This is straight up majestically ethereal, and that, too, with my favourite lens for my a6700. The capabilities of this lens are just unprecedented, to put it sparingly.
The way subjects basically float off of the background with the 56mm yet still somehow grounded is addicting

Thanks for the inspiration. I have this exact camera and lens. I've been shooting street with the X100V and you've inspired me to try and shoot street with this lens.
I love that lens! I mostly use it for portraits. For street stuff, I need a longer range, since I like to go in tight. I’ll use my Sony 18-135 if I’m lazy lol, or my Sigma 70-200 if I’m striving for the best possible pics.
This a6400 setup makes me happy 😁 so cinematic

Quality POV, pics and running commentary, pacing too, Curtis. Got a “fix” of trams as well.😊 Fav images are the folks in red - lady in Chinatown, and runner by arches.
Noticed “new” (?) Softbox in background. Don’t recall if you did a post about product photography. Have you? If not, would be a nice change of pace and widen your subject. Cheers!

Love these videos. I live in Manchester and just beginning and wish I was as confident as you taking photos of people. A couple of questions... do you shoot aperture priority for some of these? I see the exposure meter on a lot of shots are not 0, do you mainly just make sure you're no more than -1 or +1 away from the middle, or use the histogram so its always spread out? You should do a tutorial on how to set the camera up and the best settings. Keep up the great work.

Hi✌️I have a question. Do you use lense compensation when you are editing? Would you use the camera internal lens comp.-function for this lense when shooting jpegs?
I added Sigma 56 to my Cart (for one of the first none-kitlens lenses il get).
(My only current lense is the kit for Sony A6400: 16-50mm).
Now i just need to figure out if my 3rd lense will be WIDE for architecture and landscapes or Narrower\more zoomed for the even less "In your face" street stuff and such.
I’m looking at buying the ZV-E10 or the A6400 with this 56mm F1.4 Lens. I’m preferring the ZV at the moment for the Flip out screen to get low down shots would be interested in your thoughts ? Great videos by the way.
it would be cool to make a night POV video in Germany, I would suggest in winter since many cities have Christmas markets, and lots of Christmas lighting. I made impressive photos in Düsseldorf at sunset next to the Rhein river and right after sunset in the old streets. Berlin was good, although I missed the river as an element in some pictures. to fix this I would recommend rather Frankfurt, pictures from the bridges (city skyline), from the shore of Main river and also pictures in Römerplatz and finincial district. there are some spots where you have a view of modern skyscrapers as backgrounds and older buildings on the sides, difficult to explain here, your vision starts from the older street and is tunneled far toward the centre where the skyscrapers are. I liked this composition too. anyway, go there and enjoy

Great video as always Curtis, you give me ideas every time you come to Manchester, but also I do like seeing your tale on images I’ve already taken myself, obviously your edit is usually completely different but otherwise many are quite similar to what us Manchester Photographers take.
Now I need to start uploading to Instagram again, plus remember to use your new #, snap, I wasn’t keen on #cpphotos either.
Could you help me with a question, which one uses rgb- or srgb, which profile does it use if it is for portraits? or standard; In the camera I have seen that many photographers use raw files without editing, they have beautiful colors, my camera is an a6400 and a sigma 30mm 1.4, also congratulations for that great work and the passion that you put into the photographs

My budget is £1k, would you say this camera would be the best for this price range? Watching your videos the photo quality is amazing and from what Im aware from video footage which will be about 30-40% of the time I use it,, it's worth just buying a gimbal?

Is the sigma 30mm f1.4 better than the 56 for portrait photography?
You're really doubling down on me wanting to snag this 56 as my next prime. I'm just debating if I wanna go any further than that, I know I need to tighten up already because the 30 I'm using isn't great for shooting people in street since I have to be very close to them.
I can't recommend this focal length enough mate, honestly it's so good for street portraits 📷

Amazing video as usual! Quick question, when I shoot with the 56mm at 1.4, my images aren't as sharp. Is that just to do with the shutter speed, do you use a particular focus mode, of do you do something in your edits? Would love to hear!
Raise your aperture to like 3-6 to get sharper pics
I do! But I want that depth of field in the picture, like Curtis’ photo’s. He uses a low aperture in most of the picture, therefore my question!

Thanks mate! 🔥 In terms of sharp photos I do some post-production but try keep it moderate so it doesn't look over done.
However, shutter speed, Apeture and ISO is all a big part of it. Making sure your using the right settings in the right situation. I can't see why you shouldn't be achving sharp results cause this lens always Delivers from my hands on experience.

i want to upgrade from my rebel t7 and ive been looking at 3 options the zve10 the a6400 and the new a6700 im not quite sure which one to go for the a6700 is a higher budget and the rest are cheaper and i can get more lenses for a cheaper price but the only downside i hate about the a6400 is the tilt screen i like the flippy screen that the zve10 and a6700 have but im looking for a camera that can do photography and video or mainly photo and can still do great video if i choose to do some videography any input? or what a6000 series cameras would u recommend if i were to go with getting one?

You don’t have a zoom with this lens, it’s a prime lens so one fixed focal length

Is this a full frame camera? If not that means 56mm turns into about 70mm correct?
No. As I mentioned at the start of the video, this is an 85mm equivalent for APS-C cameras. It's not a Fullframe camera. Hope that helps! 🙌

Yes, just change the aperture.
He used the aperture of F1.4 for the shallow depth of field. Shallow meaning only a shallow portion of the field is in focus creating out of focus backgrounds or foregrounds. A desired effect of the lens setting of F1.4. Also known as subject separation.
You can set the lens aperture to something else such as F4 but that won't give the out of focus (blurry as you say) backgrounds.
Most lenses don't have the capability of F1.4
