The UNDERWORLD SAGA Was Sad But Amazing! But that doesn't stop me from getting to that time of the week again for me to release yet another epic the musical video and oh boy. I couldn't be happier to finally be here although seeing Polites and then seeing Odysseus having flashbacks was a bit rough i cant imagine how he may have been feeling. But now we can dive into the thunder saga for the next video!

Jorge said in a livestream, that the lines the soul of the dead are singing are their final thoughts before they died. So polities still believed in greet the world with Open arms to the end and Odysseus’s mom was still waiting for him on till she death
The infant is a constant source of guilt and regret for Odysseus and is the catalyst for why he acts the way he does. Polites recognizes the guilt and offers the open arms ideology, which is what leads to him sparing Polyphemus. Sparing Polyphemus leads to the Poseidon attack, leads to meeting Circe, leads to Underworld, so on and so forth. Astyanax (the infant's name) is the whole thing Odysseus' story hinges on which is why it happens at the very beginning. It's why, in Monster, Odysseus brings that event back up, that he's throwing the guilt away and he'd pull another Astyanax if necessary. It has to do with everything.
It's, truly, kinda of the main event that kickstarts the musical in the first place, odd that it wasn't picked up. But reactors unfortunately have more on their minds than just the source material, and perhaps he just doesn't engage with emotion in stories.
So, fun fact, the men arent rubbing it in when theyre down in the underworld. The voices of all the dead are singing their last thoughts before they died.
So the men were blaming him, Polites was still hopeful and didnt blame Ody for what happened, and his mother was thinking about how she would be waiting for her son to come home :3 very sad!

To explain the ending of Done For, or at least my interpretation of it, the reason Odysseus doesn't follow is because he is so loyal and in love with his wife that Circe's meaning goes right over his head. It doesn't even click. And a really cool thing that is confirmed by Jorge about There Are Other Ways is that when Odysseus beat Circe and said "you lost" the moly stopped protecting him from her magic like Hermes warned it would. So she put a spell on him and that's why he started singing part of Puppeteer when she put her spell on the crew. Then with his own willpower and devotion to Penelope he broke free of Circe's spell. Which is doubly impressive when you realize she's literally a demigod since her father is the god of the sun.
Now I get it, the Prophet doesn't mean it literally, he meant it mentally! The kinder Odysseus will not make it back alive. It's the *Monster*

Circe and her siblings(her brother Aeetes, father of Medea, and her sister Pasiphae, mother of the minotaur) are half nymph. Their father was Helios(the sun personified) and Perse(an ocean nymph, daughter of Oceanos and his sister-wife Tethys)
Also, awesome detail, Gigi designed Odysseus's dark side all the way back in Just A Man and had it all planned out for Monster.

i don’t know if you caught in gigi’s monster animatic how when he’s laying on penelope’s lap she rips Polites headband off Odyssey’s head. confirming he’s leaving behind Polites message of being kind and open. When i watched that my heart sank 😭
Just to note in "No Longer You" the prophet was talking about the events that will happen in the thunder saga. The animator just got some of it wrong, just to clarify.
“I see a man who gets to make it home alive but it’s no longer you” it’s not Odysseus who’s getting back home. It’s the monster. The moment he chose to become the monster, he’s going against everything he’s been doing this whole time. He changed himself (now he’s the monster) so then he could make it home.
The creature that Circe summons is a chimera! It has a lion head at the main body, a goat head around the shoulder, and the upper body + head of a snake as a tail! Of course, there are different interpretations of chimeras, but the one shown here is more accurate to the mythology iirc
Edit: Just adding on, Odysseus summoned a cyclops! Just a fun little thing
My post video thoughts:
On top of the spirits voicing their last thoughts as Jorge confirmed, I’m pretty sure they were sailing on the river Styx, which is the river of regrets. Spirits passing on would throw their regrets and broken dreams into the river. What Odysseus heard were some of these regrets and broken dreams. He heard his mens’ resentments of him not killing the Cyclopes and letting them die. He heard Polites trying to convince him to seek out kindness. He heard his mother’s regret of not being able to see him.
For the second song, No Longer You, it’s a prophecy that shows both the past and the future of Odysseus’s life. Prophecies are infamous for not being clear and leaving the words for the receiver to interpret. Also, the lyrics were made based off of what did end up happening. They’re only really clear if you know what happens.

Her being ominous is a reference to the fact that Poseidon used to be an Underworld god sometime in the past of Greece.

I think the part you missed with No Longer You is the "no longer" part. Not "someone makes it home but it's not you," but "someone makes it home but its NO LONGER you," implying that once it WAS him. Implying he changes into something unrecognizable. Perhaps a monster?
My guy, if you're excited after hearing monster, wait until you watch the Thunder Saga. It goes HARD.

The ghosts are (in epic’s cannon) repeating their thoughts as they died, so polite was still positive, but the men who died to Poseidon all died crying his name

I know someone mentioned it but when Odysseus flopped on Penelope’s lap and got petted by Penelope, to snap him out of it, she took away the headband he was wearing which was polities’s headband, Odysseus had grabbed it and wrapped it around his wrist when polities died. It somehow moved to his head throughout the sagas but that is what also shows what that comment you shared with us at the end saying, now that he knows he has to be a monster to get home, polities’s kindness was thrown out in representation of the headband being taken by Penelope.
Quick point. It is often assumed by people who aren’t super familiar with Greek mythology, that The Underworld = Hell. The underworld in Greek mythology encompasses Heaven (Elysium) Purgatory (fields of Asphodel) AND Hell (Fields of punishment for mortals and Tartarus for immortals).
For the second animatic, if it helps Tiresias(The prophet) says he “sees past and FUTURE running free” with the song talking about Important events around Odyssey, and can also be seen behind Penelope, the only Man close to her.
I love how confident you are getting in these Epic reactions. From not knowing really knowing anything "Then we can get to the Thunder Saga"! Legit love the epic community. Circe is half Nymph and half Titan/God. Her Father is Helios the Sun God but her Mother's Father was an Ocean Titan/God.

When the prophet says that it is no longer Odyseuss getting back he is saying that he has to change so much he isnt the same person anymore.
The prophet was essentially just saying "you will make it home but you won't be the same man you are when you left"if you already got that then I apologize, I just thought I might try to help clear things up

Okay when you react to the thunder saga (first saga of act 2, it takes place after the underworld saga) if you want visuals, I would try to find a video of the livestream, but PLEASE PLEASE be sure to support Jorge by watching the original releases (without visuals) as well. He removed the livestream from his channel but you can find recordings on other channels.
I don’t know if you’ve listened to the Thunder Saga but “no longer you” actually has foreshadowing for a lot of the later events. I mean, the lyrics are kinda vague and can be applied to many scenarios but I like to think the prophet is talking about the Thunder Saga.
Spoilers if you havent listened to the Thunder Saga:
Song of past romance: the sirens trying to lure Odysseus’s and his soldiers
Sacrifice of man: Odysseus sacrificing his men to Scylla
Portrayals of betrayal: from “mutiny” when his men turn on him
Brother’s final stand: Eurylochus killing the sun god’s cows out of hunger
Then the song “different beast” strengthens the man or monster story line, saying Odyssius is no longer himself when he returns home, so his wife is “with another man with a trail of bodies”
I’m not sure if anyone mentioned this, but, canonically, whenever Odysseus gets backing vocals it’s from his crew. When gods get them, it’s purely their godly power playing through. The prophet got them as the souls sang with him
Even though Odysseus’s mindset changed, he’s still a man with no one really around. No crew, yet he still had backing vocals. Was it the souls calling him to become a monster, as the guilt-driven vision of his fallen men had said?
(Also, I think you missed the moment where the hallucination of Penelope rips off Polites’s headband, representing him fully giving into Poseidon’s ideals of pure ruthlessness. It’s such a sad moment, but also one that drives home the fact that Odysseus has changed).

surprisingly, there's a quite a couple of finished animatics for the last saga, surprising considering it hasn't been even a month since it's release
Whenever i see his mom appear and sing it fucking breaks me.. because my brother died in hospital nearly a month ago.. and we were only a few minutes away from visiting him when his heart stopped. So he will forever be waiting for us. but the face.. he went peacefully.. he probably just felt tired and figured hed wake up when we got there.
I will always miss him. but now... ill be the monster to those who made him ill. If I dont get them through legal means i will make craters

The reason for the ‘palace cover in red, faces of men who have long believed your dead’ in No longer you, and then the bunch of bodies on the ground thing is because I’m pretty sure since he is king and he has been missing for years they had decided to try and find a new husband for Penelope cause they probably thought he was dead. those dead people are ‘the suitors’ cause he get super angry and kills them. You’ll see in later sagas I think it’s the next one after thunder saga

Circe is actually a minor goddess! She's the daughter of Helios and Perse, an ocean nymph, which explains the design choices. Also, something cool to note, during their fight, Odysseus won and was in control. After Circe seduces him, the power completely shifts to be in her control, even having Odysseus beg for her help.
25:50 I'm still watching, but just a note, the lyrics arent saying the past foes *did* feel those things. Its rhetorical! He's the one that felt guilt for what he's done, so he was asking himself 'do they feel these things too? Or do they do what they need to without remorse'. Cause none of them are evil. Polyphemus was avenging his sheep, since they were his friends and he cared for them as such. Poseidon was teaching a man arrogant enough to dox himself what happens when he doesnt finish what he started. Circe was protecting her daughters at any cost.
Monster is a really cool song overall, I love it and how Ody changes in it!!
When the prophet sayed: Its No longer you...
It means that Odysseus will make it home, but he wont be him anymore... Because he suffered so much, that he wont act like he was before his journey to come home. (The Choir in the last part is spoliers of the Thunder Saga)

Underworld is probably one of the best written songs in the whole Musical, but it hits so hard and so often it's so tough to watch.
Also, the souls of the dead are singing out their last thoughts, Odysseus's mom died waiting for him to come back, the men died blaming him for their deaths, and Polites died wanting Odysseus to greet the world with open arms.
Penelope taking Polites's headband during Monster because Odysseus is turning his back on Polites's philosophy is a hell of a strong visual.
"Any boat trip's gonna be a godforsaken nightmare for this poor man." You have no clue how right you are.
21:35 if you want the explanation for what was up with the prophecy, I'll put it here but it's reaching spoilers territory (well technically not rlly spoilers for the musical bc it hasn't happened yet, but it's semi spoilers for the Odyssey)
The prophet's words are very easily misinterpreted (as typical for Greek prophecies, always spoken in riddles), but he's actually definitively saying that odysseus WILL get home by the end of it. There's two ways to interpret the "No longer you" part, & both correct. The first is he's saying that odysseus would have changed so much that he'd essentially be a different man, hence he's "no longer himself". He'd be unrecognizable psychologically. The 2nd interpretation is that in the myths, he enters his palace back home disguised as an old beggar, so literally "no longer himself", unrecognizable physically. The tldr of the prophecy is "You're gonna get home but you're gonna go through so much shit & ptsd before that happens"

secondly: Jorge said that the ghosts in the underworld can't see Odysseus and his men and for me it's even more sad that when he saw his mom she didn't saw him and was saying that she will be waiting for him to come home but he never did 🥲
thirdly: fun fact Odysseus mom is actually voiced by Jorge's mom and when they were recording they had to take multiple takes because she couldn't stop crying cause It was the first time she realised that Jorge is gonna outlive her and she would leave him behind 😭
fourthly: you missed in the gigi's animatic for monster when Odysseus takes a nap 😊 on Penelope's lap she took off the Polites headband that Odysseus had since Polites died 🥲

Just to let you know, no these aren't flashbacks for The Underworld song they are the spirits of the crew. Green are the ones who are angry with Odysseus and the white ones are the ones who forgives/bare not hatred to him. Also Fun Fact: In Greek mythology/beliefs if a person isn't properly buried with drachma they can't cross the river so they are stranded.
Edit: Also the prophet was recalling what happened in the past, he was telling Odysseus of things to come.

The second time the chorus plays, are things yet to happen and characters we've yet to meet (With the exception of Eurylochus).
The song "Underworld" isnt about the journey to the Underworld, they're already IN the Underworld 😭
Those mind-tricks you were anticipating at the end of the song already happened.. those werent flashbacks, they're literally the spirits of the damned coming back to haunt him(if they were flashbacks, it would depict the event of their deaths, not them already dead). And this entire journey's emotional and mental toll on Ody stems from what he did to the infant-- when does a man become a monster? The infant matters very much. Dont be too hard on Ody for being a bit clueless 😅
After watching the whole sagas that are out now I'm waiting for the Thunder Saga 😌✨

No you're actually right, it is Odyseus that you see in "No Longer You" but it is not him in a sense that he has changed a lot during his journey home and will go in disguise when he finally reaches home
SPOILER AHEAD:
It’s no longer you is an allegory for good ol’ ody in the story he does in fact return to ithica but his travels changed him. Going to war as “just a man” he values all his crew and tries ways to save them all despite his wants to go home, but all of the misfortunes he experience and will experience slowly turned him to a “monster”. Once you reach thunder saga that prophet’s words will make a lot more sense. The first chorus depicts his past while the 2nd depicts his future.

Circe is half nymph herself, yes. Contrary to what you said i'd argue Odysseus's puppy dog eyed pining for his wife helped him massively. Circe respected his loyalty. Oh also, jsyk what the souls sang first was what they died thinking or saying, so when the sailors were shouting captain! captain! yeah... and Polites died still believing in greeting the world w open arms, and his mother missing him horribly. Also why is it odd that Odysseus would regret killing an innocent child?

When the profet tell Odysseus that he see a man returning home but not Odysseus he is reffering the "monster version" of Odysseus. That because he decides to become the monster and he is no longer a "Man". The prophet ha use a great choice if world to tell Odysseus his future from now on.
If Odysseus had listen the god, if he listen to Athena lesson his future may be much easier and clear. Now he will only see death and blood

everyone is shitting on him for saying "Flashbacks", and although crude, that is basically what it is. He is seeing the souls of his loved ones that he's lost, the other soldiers are seeing different things, quote: "This land confuses your mind" "The past seems close behind"

I feel like you maybe missed the point in monster. Hes not really asking if the cyclops feels regret, or if circe is insane or if posideon is scared he was wrong. Its the second part thats true for each character so, by that logic, Odysseus' own actions werent vile because the outcome was best for his men. Its basically justifying to himself that becoming the monster is the right path.
Regardless loving that you react to these man.
So at the end of ocean saga, casualties were at 557. Someone died between then and Underworld. Who and how is an easter egg of Epic. There's a character in the original Odessey, whose whole schtick is being forgettable and not very important. Jorge originally had a bit in Underworld that touched on him. But it was cut because it wrecked the vibe, cause it was too funny. So now Elpenor, forever the least notable of Ody's 600 men, the only man to die due to being a drunk fool on a roof rather than combat or godly shenanigans, is only a tally mark.
After you finish Epic/catch up you should do SIX the musical...they have some good animatics as well as good live action ones particularly for all you wanna do.
It's so weird that there are people that don't know the story of the Odissey. Spoiler, Odysseus comes back, but changed.
Considering the first of the thunder sagas animatics have started coming out there should be animatics by the time you react next
