A useful reminder about shadows and reflections in water! Plus thinning paint or adding a medium to finer work like branches and getting paint to flow. There is no doubt paint can get stiff with age and also when outside in winter with cold temperatures!

Thanks Ian! Yes I find adding a bit of medium to extend the paint is the trick to getting those finer brush strokes in the trees :)
