Song at the end, btw nice taste, I think sums up a way to fix the problems of "property". However I don't mean hold hands and love each other, because that wont work for everyone. I mean people could get better at loving themselves. The better we get at that the more open we will be to forging deeper connections with others. I don't think the answer is unlimited property for everyone. People will just end up getting lost and die of loneliness and depression which already happens in a way. I think the answer is in building understanding of ourselves and how we relate to others and the freedom found in that adventure.

What is the cash value of pragmatism ? If both our understanding and the truth of any idea is dependent upon its effects, how do we come to understand those effects in the first place, and how do we know those 'effects' we believe to result from those ideas are actually (or truly) it's effects in the second place ?

Rousseau's best work is the 'Discourse on the Arts and Sciences' -- before he became the sophisticated philosopher he claimed to despise in this first work.

@TimeTraveI I actually loved playing all of the Final Fantasy games growing up. I loved FF9 the most, but also 6 and 5. I don't really have time for that anymore with all of my school work and personal reading.

@frozenwalkway Drugs and philosophy don't mix, just to let you know. Neither do video games and philosophy.

Hobbes. Even the sovereign is not free. He is also a slave. But a slave with more authority than the laynen, the commoners, the citizens he rules over. 🤔😉

The good old days of hunter gathers. Shit went down hill due to metallurgy and the agricultural revolution. Agriculture led to more wealth. led to slavery. More wealth led to unequal distribution of wealth. Then there is private property vs collective property. The individual will versus the general will. The general will is soverign! Reason versus Empathy- Compassion. When reason transcends empathy it leads to cruelty and corruption. Rosseau. The Father Of Romanitism. A critic of the Enlightenment and it's emphasis on reason. The Social Contract is a necessary evil like slavery. The Social Contract is hedge art for the wealthy to remain wealthy. Government Isis established to protect the inequality of private property. Neither Rousseau or Hobbes were fond of civil wars-revolutions. Rousseau thought that the "general will" would prevent factions which led to civil wars-revolutions. Hobbes thought that the absolute authority of the monarch would maintain order. Thought experiment, hypothesis=bullshit? Rousseau the proto-Marxist? Hobbes the proto-capitalist? Who Is John Galt? John Halt versus Robin Hood? 🤔😉
