  • I modified a Victor gramophone from 1905 to play modern records. This makes it possible to hear all kinds of interesting music that would normally not be playable on vintage machines like this.
I'm a fan of Caravan Palace because I like their 'Retro-Futuristic' music style and I thought it would go well on one of these machines. Especially since they have used imagery of old gramophones in their past album art and music videos!

I love this, it comes off as something I would hear as background music in a horror game. This is awesome, it makes me wonder how other types of music would sound on an old record player.

I would love to see their first album played like this!

      YES😂
I remember seeing Albums and 45's just laying around on the floor or used as Coasters (not intentionally).
Love the Concept of Playing New/Old Music on an old Victorian Phonograph👍

Nice! What type of needles you're using to play vinyl records on this acoustic gramophone

They're regular steel soft tone needles. I dulled the needle slightly first by playing an old 78 before switching to the vinyl.

    Is it trashing the record?

It's not fully tearing the groove up but it's wearing it out so....

@@digidoridvideos3672 ive got a gramaphone cabinet. I tried a couple different things to make it play new records. Nothing performed as well as yours. Cheers.

Probably varies by machine. Props for trying though.

@@seancarristhebestYou could swap out or try to modify the motor to make it run at 33rpm though.

@@digidoridvideos3672 the speed was easy to match, the weight on the needle was the tricky part. I was able to make it work, but I liked haveing it original, so I restored it.
