A few buddies and I rode the Tail of the Dragon in North Carolina/Tennessee a few weeks ago. This was our last day and final pass on Deals Gap. I wanted to do an aggressive pace, but no one else was interested in doing so with me so I hit it alone. We had seen two police officers prior that had cars pulled over so we decided to do a cop check on the way down the mountain to make sure there were no more. After doing so, I pulled a U turn and decided to ride back up to the scenic overlook at an aggressive pace. Unfortunately, between the time we did the cop check and I pulled a U turn, a sheriff had found a hiding spot where I could not see him until it was too late. He had used his laser in his mirror to get me a few curves back (before he was in my line of sight).
I got extremely lucky because the sheriff was awesome! His main goal was safety and education (as it should always be). Im not saying everyone should get off with a warning when they get caught doing something illegal, but the educational component is HUGE. My insurance and registration are all up to date, but I did not have the proper documentation on me at the time. I have fixed everything so that it does not look like it is all expired. I learned my lesson and will not be speeding on the Tail of the Dragon (Deals Gap) again. It's not worth it. I need to take it to the track.
My buddies are riding a 2013 Yamaha R1, 2008 Suzuki GSX-R 750 and a 2007 Honda CBR 600rr. I am filming on a GoPro Hero 7, Sony a6400 and a GoPro Hero 9. The drone shots were taken with a DJI Mavic Air 2 (II) and the pilot was A Major Production. I was wearing my Scorpion Exo helmet at the time but I do also have an Icon Airflite Helmet.

It's the way the police officer approached him usually the cops are di**s but he was respectful so dude was respectful problem is with cops they usually are not respectful I got pulled over 2 days ago just because I didn't come to a complete stop at a stop sign and the cop was a major a****** and to top it all off I had my daughter with me and she's only 9 years old and has to hear a police officer acting the way he was acting over something so petty mind you this is out in the middle of nowhere country maybe I didn't come to a complete stop but there hadn't been no car at that intersection all day long guaranteed like I said that cop was cool.. that's why dude was cool.. if it would have went down as usual with the cop being a di** head trying to use his authority guaranteed dude wouldn't have been so nice .. so miss me with the b*******

I can't wait to visit here on my R3 and Camaro ss 1LE! I just bought my bike last week and am eager to start riding it. I have played in the driveway some but I'm trying to get my learners permit tomorrow and then take the MSF course sometime this year. Anyway, I only live an hour from the NC side of tail of the dragon and 20 minutes from the Blue ridge parkway. Those are the main reasons I bought the bike and so I don't spend so much money joyriding in my Camaro.

I just wanted to share my story after watching this....so I'm riding home on my Suzuki TL1000R after work and I'm in the left lane....a car in the middle lane was going same speed as me but my exit was coming up so I got on the gas and passed the car, as soon as I did that ...BAM!! there was a cop on the shoulder facing me....so I played it off and keep going straight past my exit....all of a sudden I felt the officer's lights on my back and I pulled over...He says he clocked me doing 90mph in a 55mph...im thinking "damn I'm going to jail"...I explained myself and he said he could see that....(plus I'm a truck driver with a clean license)....he takes my documents to his car just as more cops pull up....BUT....he comes right back to me and gives me a verbal warning...slow down!....I wanted to hug him too but I just thanked him....(mind you he was white and I'm black)....I still thank God to this day for his kindness!!🤣🤣

Cool cop! Had a similar experience, I was going about 29(kmph) over the speed limit and the cop pulled me over and actually dialled it back by 4kmph so I wouldnt lose my licence. He said because I was respectful, polite and pulled over straight away was the main factors he did what he did. He was with a rookie at the time, showing her the ropes (She was actually SMOKING HOT!. Like s stripper cop. LOL) I did learn my lesson, and it lasted a whole week! lol

I've been street riding for over 30 years and I've been pulled over 4 times....all 4 let me go. If you're very respectful and polite and somewhat humbled your chance of not getting a ticket goes way up.

As far as i know, I've never had a cop bother to even try to catch me. I've definitely passed a few speed traps where i clearly saw the cop and his radar pointed right at me, but at that point i always open the throttle even more. Figure if I'm going to get a speeding ticket, might as well make it worth while. But the cops never come ☹

you might want to look into getting a speedo healer for accurate speeds since you changed your sprockets the the odometer runs off as well.
