    THIS video is why I started watching your channel years ago. I’m so happy to see the historical storytelling along with metal detecting cellerholes along with Pennsylvania scenery. Three of my favorite things. I started detecting northwestern Pennsylvania cellerholes in 2007. If you’re ever in our area, my husband and I would gladly meet up with you.

    The opening of the video was great. It set the story visually. And we then can imagine how things must have been back then. Always wonder what they were doing at the time when they dropped the large cent. Geat video!

    Wow!!! The opening made the hairs on my neck stand up! That was amazing! We have found those same underwear buttons next to 1800’s cellar holes and in the same hole as a 1820’s NAVY button so I definitely think is it period to the family. You found some great relics to relate to your story, I hope you make a nice display with it all together. Awesome, awesome video! Fantastic job!

    To me the best part about metal detecting is being transported back to a simpler time and wondering if the item you just found could talk what story would it tell.       Jerry and I are both really digging into the local history to try and find stories for most sites we go to. Some sites don’t always have stories that we can find, at least not always action packed. But we are really trying hard to dig deep. Thanks for watching! 😁

    Amazing job giving us the history in this video then bringing us to the homestead site.Im sure you found original relics of the inhabitants.There’s a chance the cabin was used later for others but was then lost to the elements.That item may have been a lightening arrestor mounted atop the cabin at one time.Im sure if you clear those downed trees within the cabin foundation you will find many more interesting things.       Thank you for the amazing comment! The cellar hole was filled in with stones as well. I’m sure there are hidden items under it all. Might be buried in the ground forever. We do plan on a return visit to that site.

    This was amazing. You did a fantastic job. i have 2 Great great great uncles who died in the Civil war. How sad what it caused. Samuel was also newly married. She was a very tough woman. Shawn, you seem to be the thimbo king. This one cleaned up looks to be almost a pretty as the one you found several years ago. God bless Nora

      We won’t even tell you how many we have then. 😬 lol. You must have the massive bells around you as they seem to always be the ones that are broken. 😪 You’ll get into them. They are streaky finds. Sometimes we go long stretches without one and then other times we pull one out every hunt. Thanks for tuning in!

      Yeah they are large, the best I’ve found is a straight in half. The small ones are sick!. Much prefer the smaller ones so intricate and usually ornate. Dude I see people selling a few real deal on eBay for cheap? crazy. I don’t sell I keep my finds, On mercari I see nice fully intact with teeth 1700’s shoe buckle sets for $15. Seller says ? Hum old boot buckles?. They don’t know what they have and practically giving relics away. I have to find for myself makes it more tangible. I can just imagine your collection gotta be really nice!.

      We also do not sell our finds. I’ve only ever had one person offer a decent amount of money for something and it was a railroad trunk tag.

      ? Wow I’d be embarrassed to ask for someone to sell to me. Metal detecting to me isn’t just about the finds it’s also a journey. The search, the disappointments and exhalations of THE FIND. Guy must of thought the item he wanted you to sell him was worth quite a bit of $$?. I’m sure there are collectors out there who search us out looking for high price resale items. Have you checked out Smoky Mountain Relic Room on RUclips? Check them out dude you’ll be amazed with what they have and where they get from. Thanks for your time nice conversation I enjoyed.

      Thanks! Sure. Shawn runs the general mode with a few tweaks. He bumps the sensitivity to 90, and discrimination to 20. He also turns the iron volume down to almost a faint whisper. He then saves it as setting 16 so it’s on when the detector gets powered up. Jerry runs the fast mode. Not sure if he tweaks it any or not. Both programs do well. My suggestion? Find which mode sounds best to you, and then tweak it to your liking from there and then save the program. 😁
