I love how practical and to the point this is. Instead of confusing us with endless tutorials and theory that we may not even know how to apply. Thank you mr Finch!
The good news is that I don't really understand any of that theory stuff either. So I can't go down that road. I've seen books that really get deep with it, and my eyes glaze over. I just want to know ways to make things work in a way that's practical for a workflow.
@@DavidFinchartist Do you also use 3D programs like Blender? Which is free by the way. That way you get your perspective for free and a good basis for a car drawing. I made this ruclips.net/video/1q37RahawV4/видео.html and want to take this as a basis to make a car painting someday.
A lot of art oriented RUclipsr shows very sketchy examples to just demonstrate topic and logic but you show us full comic artwork for RUclips format. Thank you a lot. It’s a pleasure to watch.
For young artists just starting out, drawing reference lines (grids) is the best trick I learned in college years ago. Oddly enough, I learned it from another art student, not from the instructor. I used to struggle getting the proper size perspective. I’d draw. Erase. Draw. Erase. Draw. Erase. Draw. Erase. Finally a buddy tells me to do those perspective lines FIRST. and more lines, the better. Just make them light so they can be easily erase or drawn over. I’d always done perspective lines when drawing buildings, houses, etc. But it never dawned on me to draw perspective lines for OBJECTS, like cars, tractors, boats, airplanes. This trick did a couple of things for me: 1. My sizing was more accurate. 2. I save a ton of time. 3. I was able to complete drawings much faster, thereby enabling me to do more drawings in less time. 4. I SAVED MONEY. I spent far less money on erasers, paper and pencils. 5. And lastly, my works were much, much better because I was less frustrated and more relaxed, which resulted in better pieces. That was one of the best tips I’d ever received.
I love that you're honest about rarely using the perspective guideline and just eyeballing it when actually illustrating cars for your work - cause following the perspective 'box' guidelines to a tee sometimes make the overall thing we're drawing stiff, plus surely after drawing for awhile you'd just need basic perspective guidelines instead of the box
My dad is an architect and he used that app that you're using and when I was younger and I used to play that app. Thank you for this tutorial my drawing has been improving for the last couple of months ❤️
Haha, that's great! I wanted to pick a car that you would see out there on the street commonly, rather than a supercar that may be fun to draw, but probably not the most practical example.
David - I love the way you sketch it out and then erase it into oblivion, and then re-draw everything. I have seen you do this time and time again, and most people couldn't bring themselves to erase all that work...but it always turns out great. Thank you.
This is very helpful… u just clarified all my mistakes that I’ve made in my drawings, and the military car is insane I’m learning so much! Keep up the good work 👍
I had a lock on my way of drawing until i seen this video...it all makes so much sense and i can draw again after 15 years i given up drawing ...im back thanks to you sir ...thank yoy and salutations
Damn I searched for this circle in perspective stuff for almost 2 months but didn't get a satisfactory answer everything was super academic until I watched ur video I am very grateful ,thanks a lot ❤️❤️
Another great video David. Thank you very much! Looking forward to this upcoming Mondays live stream and to taking some of your courses in the near future! ✍🏻
Just finished drawing the mad max interceptor, struggled like hell but managed to get it to a decent point, then you bring this video out 🤦♂️😂 awesome video dave, definitely one of my favourites ad it focused on my weak points and showed me where I was going wrong, thank you 👍🇬🇧
Thank you so much for this. I've gotten competent at illustrating the chassis/frame of cars but always got stuck putting the wheels on the car. Now I know its because my perspective was off. I'm going to try these tips, thanks again
Super awesome vehicles, this lesson is so useful And full of info that I’m going to have review this video numerous times as I do a draw along...thank you very much for making this video
Hey Dave you might try sending this design to some film industry and I am sure your military car will break through the defenses and I'll definitely go and watch that movie. Thank You for the tutorial and your voice explaining does help a lot!😀😀
I've always struggled drawing those doors and wheels correctly . My car drawings looked really weird because the front was always looked like a rectangular pig's nose . Thank you so much for this tutorial sir 🙏 . It feels so good to learn from the legendary comic book artist himself
Again a great tutorial, thank you so much! I need to do something other then figures at some point, so I will try to give them cars a try ☺️😅🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Hey I started comic art about a year ago and have enjoyed it since you inspired me to begin and I hope to be a comic book artist as good as you some day
Best of luck with it! Drawing is the best job. I'd be doing this for nothing if I had to, so I'm very grateful I've been able to do it for a living all these years
Oh my god thank you for this awesome tutorial!!! I learned so much!!! Also “I don’t know cars, I just know how to draw them.” Thanks to you, that’s the case with me too. 😁😁😁
Thanks Dave. Another great tutorial. Btw I thought of a suggestion for a future video. Maybe a tutorial on more dynamic poses and how to keep proper proportions when drawing them?
Awesome thanks so much! Such great information that is extremely well explained! I especially appreciate the tip on how to draw a circle in perspective! I have had trouble with that for years! On I side note I think the military vehicle would be a great give away for your 75k sub show!
i've been drawing car wheels like since forever, i knew something was wrong with the perspective but i couldn't really pinpoint the spot. Thanks alot for clarifying!
