6" robo worm Aaron's magic is my go to dropshot. I do like the champ minnow from Berkeley, but I prefer to wacky rig with a bait keeper and a small brass nail in the head. Use it as a jerk bait. Like the banjo minnow, but it has a death spiral when you kill it.
Oh wow, the banjo minnow! I had that kit years ago and caught just a ton of fish on it. I was just thinking about Aaron Martens today and Roboworm. The slow spiral is such a powerful presentation.
Steve, I spent all of 2022 drop shot fishing at my local fishery and, it was a Godsend. I never tried it before this year but, I had it rigged every time I went and, it was my first choice every time. I used a Zoom Finesse worm, usually shortened, and my fish loved it! Then, I watched a video by that Tyler guy where he preached how well the ZMan Trick Shotz caught him tons of bass. I decided to try it even though I wasn't sold on a bait "suspending," I felt like the falling of the bait was needed. It worked somewhat but, nothing like the Zoom Finesse worm! Now, this lure you are presenting also has Elaztech in it (not real sure how SK can use Elaztech when I thought ZMan had the patent) and, you say it slays. I wonder how it stacks up against the ZMan Trick Shotz? I'm almost out of the Trick Shotz so, maybe I'll give these a try. Do you have any experience with this bait vs the Trick Shotz? Thanks
The drop shot sure is a blast! I have not used the Trick Shotz so I can’t do a comparison on that one. SK has had a working relationship with Zman and the Elaztech for about 20 years so you will see some of their lures made from the Elaztech within their product lineup. Good luck with the Baby Z Too. Let me know how it goes for you! Thanks for watching.
**Fruit for thought** I recently learned if we capitalize the first letter of each word in #HashTags it allows People With Hearing Impairment that use TTY or whatever it will read the hashtags aloud for them. Just wanted to share. You’re my new favorite channel. Love How you explain and What you explain ✊🏼
Have yet to use a drop shot. Everywhere I normally fished in Illinois (no boat) had so much vegetation I wouldn’t be able to fish it. Just moved to Phoenix area where there’s a lot less fishing in the area, but, there’s a bunch of huge lakes out here. I’ll have to learn how to use this rig. Have all the gear just need to get out and use it. If I can only find someone with a boat now lol.
Congrats on the move! I have family in Arizona and they love it. A lot different scenery than around here for sure. I think you will have great success with the drop shot out there and I bet there is plenty of folks looking for a great fishing buddy who have a boat.
Steve Rogers Outdoors - So far I’m loving it. The scenery is beautiful everywhere I’m at wether it’s cactus, mountains, foothills, etc. haven’t had a chance to get a line wet yet but soon. Things will settle down and I’ll get out there. Thanks Steve!
Most often Ieave it sit without much movement from me. It sits so good that I have a lot of confidence letting the natural movements in the water column put the action on it. But, if I do move it most often I use the lift. Excellent question.
So Steve, in this case you don't want to stretch this Elaztech bait you're showing so it keeps it's salt and neutral buoyancy? I stretch all of my TRD's because I want them to be buoyant and stand up off the bottom as much as possible. So, DON'T stretch this one? Gonna give this one a try. That underwater footage is invaluable!
I have not stretched the Baby Z Too when drop shotting with it and so far it is pretty true to holding like you see in the video. It would be interesting to give it a good stretch and see how that changes it. Excellent question!
@@SteveRogersOutdoors I'm guessing it ends up like the Trick Shotz, standing straight up. Regarding DS hook size, a lot of people recommend the Owner light wire mosquito and the Gama DS hooks. I look at them and see that a 1/0 seems tiny. I can't see the hookup ratio being very good. I tried the Gama in that size and I missed a few hookups. Do you subscribe to the theory of using a smaller hook so the fish don't recognize it when drop shot fishing? I used a Googan 1/0 Wacky Lunker hook (ran out of Owner mosquito hooks), normally used for the wacky rig, Spring to Fall and missed very few fish. They didn't seem to have a problem with the size either as I had quite a few 15-20 fish days with it tied on. Thanks for the reply.

Hey Steve kvd and mark zona swear by that bait. Thanks for all the great videos God bless you and your family.
It is my go-to confidence bait for sure. Just love it. And that confidence makes such a difference between the ears.

Love the underwater footage Steve. Thank you.
Thank you! It sure is fun to film. It takes a lot of time to set up and use, but I always feels it is worth the time and effort.
Love me some elaztech! Big plus is the not toxic factor so less exposure to cancer causing plastic. Thanks cap!

Steve, how well would casting a drop shot rig with a slip bobber work to get the minnow out away from the boat but have a vertical presentation?
Interesting question. I would think that it would work well. Very similar to the float and fly method. I would sure give it a try.
How do ya work this bait Steve? Pop on slack line or lift up brother?

@@SteveRogersOutdoors thanks brother!! What hook do ya recommend for this baby z too?
@@iamalemontree I either use a little mosquito hook or a lot of times I will use a number 1 or 2 lightwire ewg.
@@SteveRogersOutdoors thanks much brother!! Do you hve to set the hook hard using ewg on this bait ?
@@iamalemontree nope. Just lean into it and you’ll be good.

@@robertbrost7777 most of the time I use a size 1 hook but have also had great success with a 1/0.
What size droshot hook?
I really like to use a #1.
Love the video's Steve. Can you fish a drop shot bank fishing???
How do cast that with such a long leader?
It's a little tricky, but possible. A lot like lobbing a Carolina Rig.
Your relative on screen segues into the next video kept me clicking. I bet you're gonna see other tubers copy this technique if they're not already.
Thanks! I try to connect relevant content that is hopefully helpful. I really appreciate you watching.
