My favorite line from this movie- Silvane: "Don't steal my body!" Ariel: "I won't steal, but I might borrow!" She may be mostly naked and purple, but she has agency!
A friend introduced me to this movie back in the early 90's. Being a fan of other animated films, Heavy Metal, Rock and Rule, The Hobbit, Fire and Ice, etc, I had to check it out. I very much enjoy it for it's uncommon and exotic presentation and story line. A real classic.
It sure is!😀
I have an all regions DVD of this film, and I really enjoyed it, but after your review, I'm going to have to go back and re-examine it. I got into it through interest in Heavy Metal magazine and the Heavy Metal movie. Thanks for your deep dive!👍🤪!!!
That is so wonderful! I hope you find some extra cool nuggets in there.
The ending of Baldur's Gate 3 kept bringing this film to mind, to the point that I expected the elder brain to say "I too was from Gandahar."
Sweet!😀
I hadn't thought about this movie in years! It actually had a theatrical release here in South Florida back in the day (1988 maybe?). I bought the VHS as soon as it came out. Wish I still had it 😃
I hear you. I am trying to get a copy myself.😀
You do here what you have always done best, Retro, to make a new (to the audience) movie sound intriguing. I can smell the gravy and onions of this time travel feast from here. (Somehow the Metamorphos makes me think of, for some reason, the Mathmos which we encounter at the end of Barbarella.) While the imagination and artistry here look great, I still think my favorite time travel tale remains 1964's The Time Travelers -- I'm stubborn that way. Many thanks, Retro -- and Excelsior!
Wow, thanks! We may need the DeLorean to travel to the future, but for sure The Time Travelers will get some kind of attention from me on this channel. 😀
I haven’t seen this movie yet but I wanted to say that I absolutely LOVE your channel! It’s the absolute best! And you review the best kinds of movies. Have a great day!
Wow, thank you so much! You are very kind. Have a great day as well!😀.
An absolute favorite of mine! It's nice to see this animated sci-fi fantasy gem get some love
I need to get caught up on these reviews. The only thing I miss about my old desk job was having to time to listen while I work. Miss you RNG.
This is the best movie Ralph Bakshi didn't make!
Got to see this in the theater.
Thank you for introducing me to a movie that I have added to my must-see list. I recently discovered your channel. Your reviews are excellent.
Wow! Awesome, thank you! I hope you'll enjoy it!😀
My Dad and I ran across this film on one of The Premium Channels Obviously Not Disney in 1988, The Title was Light Years, And I like the English Voices They Got Glenn Close, Terrence Mann Christopher Plummer, and Teller The Silent Partner of Penn and Teller for The Voice of Octum, if anyone wants to here Teller's voice watch this film. "Was will be Gandaharian." I Liked it when I saw it at the age of 12.
I like that movie 😊
How have I never heard of this before!?! Definitely going to check this out, thanks.
Hope you like it! :)
I actually watched this Flic because I thought it was an adaption of the works of Brian Aldiss... it was not!
Avatar is just a ripoff of this...
