    Excellent video Paul. Just last week, when opening my rose, steam came out of the packaging😂 it wasn’t the grower’s fault we had a snap of unseasonably hot weather.

    Great video! I done exactly what you just did about ten days ago ,but instead of compost I used worm casting. Thanks again for a great advice.

    I love the white flag idea. Will definitely use that.
    I am wondering about some rose cuttings I took a few months ago. I did the milk carton greenhouse thing. The cuttings have rooted, sprouted through the top of the jug and some have blooms. (I cutoff the top of the jug.) Can I put them in a large pot on my deck or do I need to just up pot them to something larger than a milk carton for a while first?
    They are looking good but are in very little soil.

      My thought is to put them in something bigger but without photos it's hard to know for sure. Please post some photos to by Facebook Group discussion page and I'm happy to give you a better answer. facebook.com/groups/58500441971/?multi_permalinks=10159496136611972%2C10159496132031972%2C10159496076861972%2C10159496074671972%2C10159496069051972¬if_id=1621904958859807¬if_t=group_activity&ref=notif

      Thanks for your quick reply. I'll see if my husband can send a photo via Facebook. It's not my thing.

    Thank you for sharing your knowledge. I am a new subscriber to your channel. I have started my journey growing roses 😊Where I live, we never experience a frost; San Diego, CA, 10b. In a no-freeze area, is the recommendation to plant bare-root roses after soaking? Or better to pot for a period of time?

      In you area I would suggest planting right after soaking. I used to live in Los Angeles and that is what I did there. Thanks for subscribing!

    Hi Paul, I am so glad to watch this video. I was worried about my DavidAustin rose. Now it June, I haven’t receive my roses. I am in zone 5, Toronto Ontario. now outside is 84 degrees, I was told will get my roses this week. Am I able to plant them directly into ground or, should be safe put them all in the pot?

    • @Paulzimmermanroses
      @Paulzimmermanroses  3 года назад

      In Toronto I think you are safe going right into the ground. Just keep an eye on them for the first few weeks and mist them say once a day.

    It’s now June, 86 degrees, hot British Columbia summer, DavidaustinrosesUSA still have not sent, of course they are still promising… what chance do I have that they will survive

      If you do what I suggest in the video they should be fine.

    How about someone in zone 5b? I’m still waiting on my David Austin roses to arrive. First fall frost is normally mid to late October. Do I keep it in the pot all summer and plant before the ground freeze in fall?

    • @Paulzimmermanroses
      @Paulzimmermanroses  3 года назад +1

      If you are in zone 5B I would be comfortable planting straight to ground. Or pot it up and plant in say September. At least a month before first frost.
