SUM 41 just released their eighth album, "Order In Decline," a record that found frontman Deryck Whibley also serving once again as the album's producer. In this APTV exclusive, Whibley discusses how he came into his side project producing and mixing records and explains the duality of balancing songwriting and producing, his dream producing gig and why he asks "what would Jerry do?" every time he gets behind a mixing board.

@@Tauva Infected, Chuck, Bloody Murder & Order In Decline all have heavy influences. But I don't consider those to be pure heavy metal. They are punk and metal mixed together, clearly

Im a huge metallica and sum 41 fan (my respective #1 and #2 fav bands of all time) and sum 41 does metallica covers really well, but hell no they dont play better than metallica lmfao

I''ve been comparing recent interviews to his 2012/2013 interviews. The difference in his face, speech, body language and overall vibe is crazy. Looking back to that era is so weird cause i didn't thought anything of it but its like the real Deryck was kinda supressed. Deryck is so energetic, focussed and clear now. Dude de-aged a lot since then!
Holy shit you are right. I just watched a 2012 Grammy's interview ... he really was in a desperate state. It is so fucking good to see him be happy, sober and making killer music.
Deryck is becoming a great producer. I would like him to share his knowledge here on youtube and learn a lot from him.
He's done that in videos uploaded on their official RUclips channel. One video on Underclass Hero album and another video on the song Still Waiting.

Sum 41 is great. got me through middle school. Then when I was older we would get wasted and sing Fat Lip on karaoke night at the bar. Now, I just need them to come back to The Kitchener Auditorium.

What vocal does he not like?
Maybe hes talking about some vocals in this last album like those screams in "The New Sensation" or "Eat you alive" and things like that, in my opinion it fits really well the album message because of the sensation of chaos that voice sends to you.
