That song just screams "victory". I knew that when I heard the first clip over a year ago and it absolutely lives up to the expectation. The best thing was that I had no idea which song it was gonna be when I first listened to the album and suddenly, there it is. If I would have had to guess by title, I would have put my money on Better Days actually.
I absolutely agree. Chuck and Does this look infected was their best work. Then next two albums, not so much. Now they kicked out this awesome album? Sign me up! They played 45 minutes from me on the 11th and I totally missed it. so sad.
Underclass Hero was pushed by the record label as a comeback commercial punk album, while it was overshadowed by the departure of Dave. Without him, there was clearly a lack of lead guitar and they were trying to find a way around that change. The songs were still good, but missing that little something to make them great like their previous albums. Screaming Bloody Murder addressed that and really has some amazing lead guitars, because Tom was actually involved in the writing as well and it shows. Now that Dave is playing songs from both of those albums live, they again sound completely different. And 13 Voices now offers a huge range of guitar sounds with both Dave and Tom adding their unique flavors to Deryck's writing style. If only Stevo was still doing drums, but Frank is doing the best job one could possibly do to replace him.
schlafanzyk guitar is all well and good but the biggest difference between pop punk and punk rock are the vocals. in 13 voices i hear a mix of pop punk and melodic punk/hardcore vocals from deryck whereas in underclass hero it was all pop punk. screaming bloody murder is their best, most mature and most punk sounding album overall.
I want to do an edit of this and re-upload it with the actual tracks he's talking about behind it so bad. Weird background stock tracks aside, it's weird to do a video disecting every track on an album without... The actual tracks
braiva2001 no, it is about his closest friends that had been with him from the start and that Derryck cared about the most that suddenly left him when his health started to get worse. He later realized that those people had only used him to ride on his fame as well as stealing from him. Stevo and S41 mutually agreed to part ways and they are not on bad terms. Stevo has a child and the time consuming touring together with Derrycks alcohol problems are probably the reasons why he left. They occassionaly tweet each other about memories or jokes.
I've seen him off his face. I watched their last gig before he quit the tour. in Saskatoon. he was soooo off his trolley he could barely walk. he is definately sober here.
Thank you Sum 41 for this amazing new album.
i saw sum 41 at warped, been hooked ever since...
I have heard the amazing record and I really can't wait to see these guys! :)
Mia Lewis same
Bless him
aw hes so cute
A Murder Of Crows, Goddamn I'm Dead Again, Fake My Own Death, War, and The Fall And The Rise are my favorites. This is an incredible album.
MJNation say for me, but replace war with twisted by design
Fear The Rask twisted by design is good but war is a song that I go back to more
No 13 voices? that's the best one imo
Ramsess Kenway that song is alright. It didn't do much for me and it isn't a song I would go back and listen to.
13 voice is SOOOO good.
Deryck is a musical genious. So talented. Love this band.
The hype for this album is real. I've heard 3 songs so far - 3 masterpieces.
what a man.
Twisted by design IS a triumph song, by far the most prosperous Sum 41 song

screaming bloody murder > chuck > 13 voices > does this look infected

Glad to see Deryck's sober.
More beer left for me!! :)
I love Sum 41
It's crazy how his definition of "twisted by design" is word for word what I felt when I heard it.
Oh damn so good you are recovering maan :(
his face makes me happy
We need more songs like "Goddamn", those solos were all killer no filler!
Love Sum 41 🥰
He's so humble
Cool to get a deeper insight to the ideas of the songs. Thanks!
13 Voices inspired by Tim Burton and Quentin Tarantino movies \m/
What about Better Days and Black Eyes?
bonus tracks
Tank Donut
I know. But it would've been cool to hear him describe what they're about.
Faked my own death is my fav
as of now this video only has 1 dislike. that's fucking awesome that only one person disliked this. show's how cool sum 41 is.
Fake my own death, black eyes, breaking the chain and God Save us all are the best for me.
Fuck the cowbell! Needs more guitar!
I want to do an edit of this and re-upload it with the actual tracks he's talking about behind it so bad. Weird background stock tracks aside, it's weird to do a video disecting every track on an album without... The actual tracks
I'm glad I'm not the only one who think pop is garbage
Tim Burton !
The only thing I disliked about this album - was how short it was
Could someone explain me what "Twisted by design" means?
Ádám Jakubik it kinda means that Deryck is different from others.
:)
Is A Murder Of Crows talking about Stevo and why he left the band?
braiva2001 no, it is about his closest friends that had been with him from the start and that Derryck cared about the most that suddenly left him when his health started to get worse. He later realized that those people had only used him to ride on his fame as well as stealing from him.

They occassionaly tweet each other about memories or jokes.
Cooki3z Thanks for the confirmation.
Stevo was the youngest member in the band though?
Does Deryck smoke weed? Seems to me he'd be much better off if he abused marijuana rather than alcohol. Even now I think he could benefit.
Possibly, but you always play and generally sing better sober. It ain't very rock 'n roll, but it does actually work that way :)
he doesn't look too sober
probably just tired. He looks much better these days
I've seen him off his face. I watched their last gig before he quit the tour. in Saskatoon. he was soooo off his trolley he could barely walk. he is definately sober here.
he looks like every sober alcoholic. it leaves some marks on your body, but you can tell he is healthy now.
Ctancreation
I guess he needs time for recovery... time he doesn't have with all of his business
