I know you guys like show and tell! We had to record two of these on this recording day, and I had an extremely sharp cut-off, so we had to get them both done in five hours. That's why I had to minimize tangents and such. -Eric
Hey, maybe you could do an entire show and tell episode? Have everyone take turns showing their cool Cosmere merch and maybe telling a quick story about where they got it or why it's special? I would watch that. Edit: Ok, ok, I would watch anything Brandon/Shardcast related.
@@elsecaller-jacob8346 I'm doing okay, thanks. Lockdown is back and I feel like I've got no momentum in my life at the moment but I've not lost anyone so far either. So a lot better than a lot of folks. Thanks for asking and I hope you are okay, too.
@@Rhadagar glad to hear you’re coping bud, things aren’t much better in the UK for me I know what you mean by not feeling motivated -.- but we’ll get through this! Especially with a little help from Brandon’s Books!!
I think Vasher is going to give up his divine breath to save someone when all else seems lost in book 8. Brandon said there's something HUGE coming in book 8 of Stormlight, I think that's what he's referring to. I don't think it'll be book 5 or book 10 because in 5 he hasn't had enough development in Stormlight yet, and we don't want the end of the entire series to be solved by him in book 10. I think we should start just referring to Era 4/end of the cosmere as "Space age Mistborn" until Brandon decides how many eras there are lol
Well, the fact that Vasher is alive and kicking proves that he hasn't done everything he was brought back for. I think he has multiple purposes to fulfill, and at the very end, he's going to give up his divine breath to save someone really important on Roshar, Dalinar, Kaladin, Jasnah, just somebody super important. I think that Vasher is Endowment's metaphorical dog in this fight. The shards agreed to not interfere with each other, and Endowment seems to be sticking to this on paper, but nobody agreed to Vasher not interfereing.
related the bondsmiths having stronger versions of surges: if you have an alomantic ability and a hemalurgic spike with that same ability, it becomes more powerful. maybe if you bond various spren of one type (like Shallan) you can have stronger surges.
About the Oldbloods: remember that we are thinking in the basest of planes, considering our lack of eyes on the inside. Also, we are born of the blood, made men by the blood and undone by the blood. Fear the Oldbloods, Lawrence.
33:00 If color and rainbows are signs of investiture then... Is there a link about Adolin and the rainbow on the floor on the back-cover of Rhythm of War ? If it's about him becoming an edgedancer with Maya... As it hasn't happened in the books as of yet, I would not believe it.
Kaladin mentioned Syl becoming a scalpel a couple times. Perhaps that is a way that connections can be surgically cut and pasted. Or what if they can become a spike and influence Hemalurgy some way.
Loving this so far! Re Vasher: someone got really drunk over a zoom party and suggested Vasher was going to fight one of the Heralds. And THEN incoherently argued Vasher was going to become a Herald. No idea where that theory came from 😂
On the old blood question, it doesn't say that the Radiants that the old blood trace themselves back to were the rulers of Alithkar only that old bloods who were descended from them did. Lots of room for a dynasty to rule Alithkar that descended from but were not Radiants
I think the Seons being able to travel off world relates to the way Rayse pushed Dominion and Devotions power into the Cognitive Realm. Seons can still somehow manifest in the physical realm and are seen by all. This in itself is mysterious to me. But my guess is because the cognitive realm allows you to travel to different worlds much easier then space travel. The amount of Devotion and Dominions investiture permeating the Cognitive realm allows the Seons a further reach across the cosmere in the physical realm. It's not intuitive at all HOW this works, but the majority of the two shards power in the cognitive realm/shadesmar must be significant to this in some way!
I'd say gravitation spren too. For elsecallers I'd say logic-spren, but I might be biased by Jasnah being the one we know, and it might be more appropriate for truthwatchers, who, according to Brandon's website, are on the whole the more scholarly of the bunch. For lightweavers it's been pretty much confirmed that it's creation spren. for bondsmiths, while Dalinar doesn't have shards, he seems to have an affinity for glory spren. stonewards, obviously stone spren. Dustrbringers, I would guess flamespren, edgedeancers lifespren. I have no Idea for willshapers. Brandon's site mentions radical self expression, so maybe music spren? but like with elsecallers, the one POV character from that order might be coloring my expectations there.
oh highpren look like a hole in the air where you can see the stars. To me it means that they are space-spren of sorts, and thus I think the association with gravitation spren is fairly strong.
Re: Fused procreation. Can the Fused even change their form? If a fused can enter mate form, I assume they could procreate, but unless I'm mistaken we've never seen one in any form other than their default one.
I assume that since elantris magic is based on programing and math it is inherently complex and flexible enough that you could magically create workarounds for things like connection and identity investiture requirements
So I thought that the Seon was in a metal box because of the whole "Ruin can't read things written in metal" sort of thing, like it would protect their conversations from Odium or something. It was very odd that it was made of metal . . .
I think the Oldblood being a descendant of both Radiants and the rulers of Alethela is a possibility if Nohadon was a Radiant and the Oldblood descended from Nohadon
or maybe it was a sort of animal-like spren from the start? like a spren related to the hunt before being perverted into a spirit of human carnage and bloodlust.
1:06:35 My guess on this is starspren, based on (1) how Highspren look, (2) the order is the Skybreakers and they're also prolific fliers, and (3), windspren are taken. I also like the thought that this might reflect on their flight style. Windrunners can clearly get very agile and precise in their flight, and part of that seems to be using their connection (big C? not sure) with windspren to mold the winds around them (which would explain the name a bit more than "cool name for people who can fly", and I so think there's something deeper than just the two Surges for each order that explains the names). Skybreakers on the other hand, might be more aggressive in their flight and not so precise as Windrunners because they don't have that windspren connection. Edit: Also the discussion on the next wob right after makes me think Excisors are probably Hemalurgic in nature.
I really enjoy non-Roshar content, it would be nice seeing it more frequently. Like, now that we've seen RoW's finale, Mistborn era 2 ending is even more intriguing. I believe Odium and Fused cant live the Rosharian system (Or the planet, cant rememeber) but that was clearly a fused with Mr. Suit so... yay Taravodium?
Also I think Moash could regain his sight if it’s in a similar boat to Kaladins shash brand the main issue with this is that if it’s true then Moash feels blind or as close to feeling as he can get with his connection to odium so much so that it has effected his spiritual aspect the big issue with this is that if this is true the regaining his sight would mean a positive uptic in his character as I don’t think he could return to how he was before after his experience’s in the crystal Pilar room and the subsequent escape from the tower during which he was disconnected from odium
I want Vyre to have a conversation with a hemalurgical spike. Also while the magic of Elantris is localized the Elantrian ability is strictly to poke a hole into the Cognitive
This sounds like a conversation in a language where I only understand one third of the words... and I have been reading Sanderson's books for a long time ^^;
I've become a little bit obsessed by the cosmere recently, and honestly, besides some stuff that have been revealed in oathbringer and rythm of war, a lot of those meta discussions seem like they rely on word of Brandon and fairly obscure side stories. Stormlight archive in particular tends to keep the bigger picture pretty fuzzy, like we have real information on the powers of like 4 out of 10 orders of knights radiants.

Vasher's Returned name is 'Warbreaker the Peaceful', so it doesn't make sense to me that Vasher would die before the "greater war of surges."
@Perfectly Desi It makes perfect sense that he would HAVE to die for the war to happen in my head. But that just my own headcanon.
Remember that time when Elend took the Lerasium and somehow started burning Pewter while unconscious despite NEVER having burned it before?
Exactly what I thought. I am surprised nobody remembered this.

The 5th clue for the stick should have been "needs an interpreter/translator" because Pattern is the one actually speaking not the stick itself.
I like the theory that the black box the seon is in has a soul stamp on it. Maybe it keeps it from bonding the person or allows it to leave Sel

Brandon has mentioned that Isaac might be writing some Mistborn extras stories so intermediate stuff between the main series might happen
Followup to LadyLameness' question: is there also one Skaze per Aon? Or are the "Skaon" symbols from Skai that they are incarnations of?
I wonder if Lift rarely having to poop will come up in Stormlight 6, could be good for plot reasons
What do people think of incarcerationspren being the cousinspren for skybreakers? If not that I think maybe gravitationspren.
