      HotandFlashy You're beautiful!
      You would think/hope if you're spending that amount of money on foundation it would/better be phenomenal! I get shakey if I have to spend over $30! I'm going through so much being in menopause... skin changes too so I'm still looking for my perfect foundation. I love your videos.
      Thanks.... Tessy😊

      That is SO TRUE! I feel like I have to buy three foundations because of my skin changing! Sometimes I'm so dry that every brush stroke kicks up flakes. Other days I'm so shiny I'm applying powder every four hours.

      HotandFlashy Hi Angie, I hate the Armani Luminous Silk Foundation! It is so drying on my skin and looks terrible on me. It's too late to take it back to Sephora no came with out a lid! I was hoping the other one would work! I'm sticking to the Dior Hydra Life and the It Cosmetics Cc cream. I cant find a foundation I like yet! Thanks Angie for reviewing!❤❤❤

    I have dry skin - I’m 49 and love this silk foundation - It’s perfect. My skin is clear and the silk foundation works well with or without primer and lasts all day long without a powder. Great coverage and doesn’t crease. The powder version does crease more than the first but has more coverage. I prefer the silk (first version) you can’t feel it on your skin and it isn’t shiny on my skin either. No powder needed.

    Angie, you are a great researcher and that coupled with your experience makes me LOVE your videos. You are a clear speaker, not pitchy, not hyper, very professional and you are direct and get to the point. Your videos are so well structured and well organized, you are incredibly easy to follow and your recommendations carry weight girl! I can tell you are a well seasoned beauty expert! I had the same color match problems with ALS. Try shade 3.5 it is perfect, don't let the lower number deceive you. It's for light to medium skin tones.

    This is my absolute favorite foundation ever. At 58 years young I have used almost everything out there and love your foundation videos. The power fabric foundation, if used in the right shade, looks like skin! If you used to light of shade, it looks more like make up. I have figured this out the hard way and now that I’m wearing a shade darker than I would normally wear I have gotten so many more compliments on my skin when I wear this foundation!

    PLS no hate! Why is it that every single foundation review video I have watched from you, there’s always the same result on your skin? Could it be the skin care regime you’re doing? I always watch your videos as it was so detailed and informative. I love both of these foundations! Luminous silk is my holy grail for years. Sad it didn't work out for your skin.

      I love luminous silk too. I think she needs something that will work on top of many layers of skincare and a lot of sunscreen. Few will perform on top of all of that. That’s probably why she likes double wear . I also like dw when I need something to stay put but overall it feels very heavy.

      Possibly the retinol she uses dries her skin out so nearly every medium to full coverage foundation will sit on it. Maybe needs to exfoliate before.

    I am shocked. I bought the Power Fabric 2 days ago and absolutely love it. It applied well, held all day and my skin looked great. I applied it over the Guerlain d'Or. I agree that it isn't high, high coverage, but I prefer to that to a super-heavy face. Bonus: because of the wide range of colors, for once I swatch at something other than the very, very lightest.

      edit .... the clerk at Sephora was clear that the foundation shouldn't be used with a silicone-based primer.

    • @AngieHotandFlashy
      @AngieHotandFlashy  7 лет назад +11

      I'm so happy you like it and it works for you! Just to clarify about the primers, both of these are silicone + water based foundations so they should work with silicone + water based primers... I tried 3 different primers... 1 worked, 2 didn't...

    • @JD-323
      @JD-323 7 лет назад +9

      I liked the power fabric too. The shade I bought online was way off though.
      I used the YSL blur primer and also a beauty blender to apply and I was very pleased. Another day I used the angel veil primer. These both played well. The bottom line is that makeup is subjective. When you have to work hard to make something work for you ( at any price point) then its not for you! Thanks for doing this review Angie. As usual, you go the extra mile. Have a great weekend.

      I've been wearing luminous silk for years and love it. Sorry Chanel is not for me. Makes me look old. I guess everyone's skin is different and the proof is in the crazy shine you got. It has never done that or looked anything like that on me. It also is absolutely not drying.

    This just goes to show how different we all are. What may not work for some, works for others. I absolutely love the Power Fabric. My skin type is combination with fine lines, sun damage, deep acne pits, pores the size of holes, and acne ice pick scars. I get near full coverage that is even with a smooth flawless look, without texture. I have used the Power Fabric with several different primers (UD Optical Illusion, MUF Skin Equalizer Primer, POREfessional, Tart Timeless Smoothing Primer & Becca Backlight Filter Primer) and it plays well with all. I do not use sunscreen. My application method is different than Angie's. I apply the foundation heavy, by dotting heavy globs of it around using my fingers. Then I take the stipple brush and stipple it around and into the holes and pits. After that, I pounce the beauty blender all over to even it out. I never drag or rub. I set it with Kevin Aucoin powder and WoooLah! I look stunning! It lasts all through out my work day and I never get shiny nor dry.

    So sorry this did not work for you. I have dry skin (inherited from my dad) and I love the Luminous Silk Foundation and Powder. I use it with a light dusting of the Luminous Silk Powder and my skin looks great. Did not accentuate texture nor were my pores highlighted. I went out dancing and I couldn't believe how great my face looked when I got home. Totally amazing. I don't personally wear makeup every day. But, instead maybe once a month and I prefer light to medium just to allow for my hyperpigmentation to be covered. This is pretty much an exact match to my face and had lasting power through sweat while dancing. I actually thought I was seeing things so I took a picture with and without flash after my night out. Skin looked awesome. Goes to show how products may work differently on each person.

My skin is dry to combo, and it stayed on beautifully for at least 12 hours with minimal shine breaking through at the end. i was amazed! I guess, Angie, that our skin is far different. Plus I do not wear a sunscreen underneath.

    Thank you for saving me $70!!! A long time ago I had received a trial size Luminous silk and it wore on my above average combo 29 year old skin like a horrid mess. I tried it out at least 5 times and because of all the great reviews on RUclips and false claims...I thought I was crazy and needed to try this again. The other day after seeing a review the power fabric I was going to order it online. After investigating a little more I bought my good old Mat Velvet+ by Make Up For Ever. After watching your video I'm even happier I only spent $39 and do not have keep wasting my money on luxury foundations that get a lot of false hype. Your reviews are my favorite and you have helped me soMuch & my mom is in her 60s and her skin is amazing because of skincare and you helped teach me how to help her. She is aging backwards. I have tried so many in the past 6 . months I tried so many high end and the only one that went on really nice and didn't make my pores stand out was Clarins. Watching cosmetic reviews is a source of enjoyment for me but I've come to realize that they are kind of pointless when it comes to choosing products for oneself. If I had watched this video a few months ago I probably would have never purchased the power fabric foundation based on this review and that would have been a shame because for me it's a fantastic foundation. I had none of the problems that the reviewer had. It absolutely provided full coverage, didn't settle into lines, break apart or become shiny. It gave me a beautiful long lasting finish. I'm only commenting because I see lots of comments along the lines of "thank you for this review, now I know not to waste my money on these foundations". Hopefully people who make their purchasing based on you tube reviews at least make sure they have the very same skin type as the reviewer.

I could not for the life of me get it to look good even immediately after applying. And I'm combo. So I'm super keen on trying luminous silk. I definitely agree with you on both of the foundations reviewed. The luminous silk is just ok, not justifying the price tag at all. I seriously hated the power fabric, tried so hard to make it work but it simply didn't do it for me. FYI, I'm 36 with combo dry skin and the power fabric really made my skin look so much worse than not having any foundation on. It was by far the most difficult foundation I've tried and not quite sure what the hype is all about. Thanks again for another great foundation review.

    I am 50 with combo oily skin and have found the exact same results with a sample I got of the power fabric over 3 days use, it was a shocker- I agree it was totally opposite of how I hoped it would perform, way shinier than the silk, bread up, and clings to my 2 dry patches on my cheeks. I am currently loving the synchro although I have to mix 2 shades and I also love the Kevyn Aucoin etherealist for special occasions because the lasting time is less than the synchro but it gives a beautiful glowy finish that looks like skin. It really makes me look younger. The chanel is nice but does not cover my redness as well as the synchro. Your reviews are amazing!! They are helpful in weeding out the duds!

      Hi! Can I ask what your skin type is? I have normal to Slightly dry skin, I don’t have noticeable pores but I do have fine lines & beginning of some wrinkles (not too bad yet). I’ve been trying different foundations & I’ve been So tempted many times to buy the Luminous Silk. I almost always base what I buy on real person reviews. The best I’ve found thus far & have been using the past 6 months is Wander Beauty Nude Illusion. I do really like this foundation, it has a nice satin finish, but as the day nears end I find it’s starting to dry a bit & coverage isn’t lasting as long as I would hope. I know Angie had an Oily T-Zone which I do not so I’m still just not sure if I should give this one a try or not. I’d love to hear what you think about this foundation. Please share 😊

      jcjccmz I agree but it also goes the other way. Just because it isn't for one persons skin doesn't mean it's not worthy. With Armani foundations you really don't need to use so much primer or it will look like it did on Angie. With high end products less is always more. I have never had any of these things happen to me but when I tried Double wear it did. You can use these reviews as a guide but should still get a sample for yourself.

      Same! My sample was excellent and I ordered a full bottle. I’m 50 and it looked fine. I did use sunscreen and Tatcha primer with YSL setting powder and it stayed 14 hours, no touch ups. I got some shine but I walked 5 miles (I’m a nursing student in preceptorship). Usually my blush fades but it stayed the whole day. Makeup is so personal. It’s crazy when it’s so off the mark for other people!

    It just goes to show that not every foundation works for everybody! We are the same age and I value everything that you tell us! I have found the luminous silk does not work for me but the power of fabric turns out flawless on my skin. I always said it with bareMinerals and I use number 7 and it is perfection. I’ve used it with a beauty blender and with a brush… Artiste brush which I think applies foundation just beautifully. I find that with any brush application it always needs to be pressed in with a damp beauty blender no matter what foundation I’m wearing. I would love to see you try the Neutrogena foundation with the 25 sunscreen in it. I’ve been hearing great things about this and you can get it for about $11 and a celebrity compared it to Armani and Dior!

    I had to get 5.0 too very light but some bronzer made it ok. I bought this on many mature gals request. I liked it but I don't think I will repurchase. I'm still looking for my holy grail. So far the Smashbox 15 hr is my favorite in warmer months.

    All I cam say is thank you. Seriously. Because most beauty gurus think watching them apply makeup is a review. You get down to the meat of the info women our age want to know. I personally cannot afford a luxury foundation or justify the price since I rarely wear makeup but always searching and ready to buy " the one ". You have over the course of a year to convince me to try your holy grails. Wish me luck!

    Luminous silk foundation needs to be applied with BK beauty 101 or BK beauty 109 brush. These 2 brushes are the best ones on the market to make your foundation look super smooth. Professional brushes are 100x better than beauty blenders or cheaper brushes Thank you for your time to make your video. 🙂

    I am so glad you did this test and had the same experience I do. I thought it was just me but now I know it isn't. It's an expensive foundation for no better than it performs. I can now justify pitching it. I had trouble with a color match too. I have very fair normal/combo aging skin with fine lines and pores.

    There goes yet another mark against Armani makeup products. Although I didn't lay out the horrendous price for it myself this time, I'm sorry you did, only to find it to be a "holy bail," having to bail out of a bad situation becoming worse. I just cannot find a happy place for any Armani makeup, and I have tried many. I was obliged to try it and continue for friendship's sake, and I feel I cannot return any for that same reason. But, I won't be doing it anymore. The truth, delivered kindly, must out. Thank you so much, Angie, for your diligent labor for us! ❤

    Just a thought Angie, could the problems you have with foundations have to do with your skin care regimen? Is that perhaps why they break up like they do?

    • @Celena2947
      @Celena2947 7 лет назад +29

      spottedbutt definitely, i feel if you have an intense skincare routine using retin a and different treatments liquid foundations will not work as well not matter what kind it is. I know this because of my own experience aswell. So take reviews with a grain of salt
      Also, because she uses anti aging products her skin is constantly regenerating and turning over thats why foundation will break up or just look bad. Especially if its a reoccurring issue with other foundations. So it's natural that the foundation will break apart.

      Vustah-exactly. My skin is a bit different to Angie's but I too use retina a and other anti-ageing products and this is why I never wear foundation anymore at 49 years old. NONE of them look good on me at the end of the day's wear (I've tried tons) so I stick to tinted moisturisers instead only on my nose and chin where I have some redness and leave the rest bare skin during the day, or with the amazing Bare Minerals primer on for going out at night. No makeup to settle into my wrinkles or pores, no texture, no drying, no product breaking up, and shine I just blot off instead of using powder. Job done.

    I had heard so, so many good things about the Luminous silk and wanted to try it. Only one place to get in my country 🇳🇴 and so happy that I didn't buy but only got samples last week. I tried the Luminous Silk in 5,5 and the Designer Lift in 5,5 (colors do not correspond by the way, which is super annoying). I have the same experience as you. No matter what I have paired the application with it never really looked good. Settled massively into wrinkles and lines. They both made my skin look older. So dissapointed about Armani that I will not even venture into the Power Fabric. I agree with you that it "can" look good briefly on a good day ha, ha.

    Yay, someone who feels the same as me. I don't like either of these either. I have mature, oily combination skin and everyone kept raving about the new power fabric saying how long wearing it was. Definitely not on me. I end up a terrible oily mess. I like the Chanel you recommended and purchased because you like it but it doesn't have enough coverage for all my pigmentation. I have just discovered the Clinique Beyond Perfecting Foundation. It is by far the best long wear foundation I have found without looking cakey. (both Marc Jacobs Remarcable and Estee Lauder Double wear look awful on me). Thank you so much for your reviews.

    Angie! I have tried every foundation under the sun and have yet to find one I even really like that much - certainly nothing close to holy grail status. BUT...I found one and I want EVERYONE to read this. I have dry 45-year old skin (ok, I turn 46 in two weeks). I exfoliate every time I wear foundation and yet I still hate the way most foundations look on me. I prefer BB creams and like the IT cosmetics BB creams and the Dr. Jart ones, but again, I don't "love" them. But I was watching a video about foundations that Tati thinks are the absolute best on the market - one she said is basically the perfect foundation. She said that her mother looks gorgeous in it. She said that it looks great in everyone but especially on older women. She said that women with mature, dry skin love it but that it works for every skin type. Angie, I know that you have combo skin, but since they say that this is good for all skin types, I thought I would mention it. Your Chanel luminous silk is nice in me at first, but then it ends up making my dry skin look cakey later on, so I can't wear it for more than an hour or so. But THIS - this new foundation!?!? I LOVE IT! It's the Scott Barnes Multimedia foundation. It is make with oil. The pigment is very thick and all falls to the bottom and the oils are at the top. You don't shake it. You put a stick he includes down into the bottle and pull it up. With the stick, you get enough of the oils and pigment. You wipe it on a palette or on the back of your hand and apply it with a natural brush with synthetic tips. But I think any brush works fine. Even my Artis. Tati shakes it and uses a beauty blender, but according to my research, shaking it gives you a much sheerer application, and I've always found that beauty blenders give a more sheer application as well. But, it's nice to know that both of those methods DO work, of it's a lighter application you are looking for. This foundation "plays well" with all of my other face products - cream, liquid, and powder. I put powder over it and then put more foundation over the powder - everything worked and the foundation adjusted - cream and liquid blushes and highlights didn't "move" the foundation or mess it up at all. Honestly, this stuff seems foolproof. I am in love with this stuff! Everyone needs to try it! Mine was $50 - I don't think I was charged tax or shipping. It was a straight $50. I came in two days. It comes in a glass bottle and doesn't have a pump. It's a little bit strange and different from anything else I've ever used and i will admit that it feels kind of oily on the skin (of course, having dry skin, i LOVE that!!!!), but the finish looks sooooooo pretty and with powder, i think oily skin women will love it too. I HIGHLY recommend it. There is very very little information about it in RUclips. But I will tell you, every video I've watched describes it exactly the same way I have experienced it. I think everyone will love this stuff - or at least I hope so, because then there will be an awful lot of happy gorgeous-feeling women walking around! 😊😊😊😊
    ps - I was wondering how the Armani foundations would work if they were mixed - it LOOKS beautiful - how did it wear?

    • @AngieHotandFlashy

      HotandFlashy let me be clear - the Scott Barnes MultiMedia foundation is shiney...ok, "dewey"...VERY dewy, is no doubt about it! But with powder, it sets nicely and I DO like a more luminous look - I know that you don't, but this is just SO beautiful!

    These foundations didnt work because of your skin and skincare routine. If you had the same issues with both foundations. The power fabric wasn't matte because your skin is luminous from your skincare routine. If anyone is using treatments on the skin you will have a hard time with foundation breaking apart its natural. I wish you would have mentioned that. Not many foundations will reduce texture if your skin is overturning from skincare. Skincare doesnt stop working once you apply foundation thats why both looked the same, created the same issues etc.

    Angie, the colours of silk were tricky, but similar to the Clinique beyond perfecting, (tho not as weird) this line I found doesn't always run in "undertone order. My first colour was 5.5 which is too light in the summer and pushing too pink, but still workable-however when I went to try 6.0 it was so light it looked like chalk HOWEVER 5.75 was perfect and 6.25 is my favourite for summer. Don't ask me at the same time of year, 5.5 is darker, wat darker, than 6.0, we generally are close in foundation colours, so I would recommend you giving 6.0 a shot , or 5.75 if your tanned ? Not to sound like a know it all, I just think this foundation can be such a nice treat and make you feel fancy if you find the right shade. And in my experience that was pretty hard :-) :-) I absolutely love your videos thank you very much for taking the time to make them

I know what you mean about leaving the skin looking 'textured' but I think that's the beauty of this foundation, it does this so well. It does make a change from the completely smooth look that's popular now. Maybe that why it's so popular with actresses under hi-def cameras, it's the natural 'skin look, but better. x

    Thank you Angie! I have been so curious about the Armani Luminous Silk foundation, even though my Cover Girl 3 in 1 has been working great on my skin, I still wondered if the hype surrounding the Armani was worth giving it a try. Now I feel no need to stray from my good ol' Cover Girl ;)
