    If you don’t at least use a polish after claying the car, you’re literally sealing/waxing marring and scratches. People just don’t get it in full, after claying the paint, examine for whether or not a compound is needed for paint correction and then polish before waxing, sealing, or coating.

    Leigh Thanks for the videos. They helped me in my decision to buy a 2019 SD6 SE Discovery 5. One point - have you worked out your fuel consumption by dividing actual kilometres by litres rather than using the trip computer? I find the computer is optimistic to say the least. I use the FillUp app on my phone every time I put fuel in so I have a much more accurate value for fuel consumption. It also gives me the full fuel history. Thanks again for the great videos!

      Thanks David. You will be happy with your D5. I never get sick of driving it. Thanks for the FillUp tip

    I notice the KO2’s are about a 32” tyre and the factory tyre was a 31”. Any dramas with tyre rubbing on full lock and in all suspension settings? Do you know if you could get an 18” rim on the car?

    You will get even better results if you stop rubbing in circles and use a back and for or up and down motion. and use a proper clay bar lubricant. Remember no pressure just finger tip pressure. Clay bars are so much better and mix and mould the bar regularly.
    Nice car by the way.
    regards

    Does the engine Auto Stop and Stop work for you. Just got a Discovery and it seems to have a mind of its own when or if it switches the engine off at junctions or behind another car.

    • @leighwilson1524
      @leighwilson1524  4 года назад

      Yes you are right the Auto Stop is very inconsistent. I live in a regional town so I turn it off when I start the engine every morning when I drive locally. I only leave it on when I go to a city.

      @@leighwilson1524 Thanks for getting back to me. The issue I have is that it rarely works. Think I will get it back to the dealer as it's under warranty.

    Great video Leigh. The car looks fab and your garage is very tidy. I have just ordered a D5 (currently have a D3). We have different specs here in the UK mine will be an HSE in Santorini Black. I think its hard picking the colour of a new car. Your White does look good, what colour and spec would you go for if you changed it for a new D5 ? Thanks Rich

      Hi Rich, sorry for the delayed reply. I must have missed the notification. I like the gun metal grey (does not show the dirt). My 2017 build missed out on Apple CarPlay. I wish I had the surround cameras, lane change and adaptive cruise control. It is a shame my friends Subaru Forester has so much tech in it. It is embarrassing. The Claying is a must, it makes so much difference. All my option are listed on my first D5 video.Thanks for watching and enjoy your D5

    You use clay to remove tar paint residue etc. If you do it too much you’ll end up with bare paint 😊

    Hi Leigh, good informative videos. I have had my D5 for almost 2 years and it is also the 6 cylinder. Just wondering if you have towed anything heavy with yours and have had to fit a brake controller. We are getting an off-road van in a few months and looking at getting something fitted.
    Thanks.

      Hi Peter, thanks for watching. I have not towed anything other than a box trailer. The best information source in australia is the Land Rover Discovery 5 Owners Group - Australia 🇦🇺 FB they have members who have towed in the Outback and all over Australia. There is a tow section within the pages. A great group of people with all the answers.

    Hi Leigh , would love to buy a discovery but I am worried about reliability issues , I live in Wollongong , I note you purchased yours from southern classics?

    • @leighwilson1524
      @leighwilson1524  3 года назад

      Hi Manish. Southern Classic Cars have given me good service. I have a very reliable Discovery compared to many. You only hear about he bad ones never the good. I suggest you join the Facebook group LAND ROVER DISCOVERY 5 OWNERS GROUP AUSTRALIA to get an honest understanding of these vehicles

    Hi Leigh
    I have eventually picked up my D5 after the lockdown eased in the UK. I can see you like to look after your paintwork and was wondering if you have had any stone chips or scratches? If you have do you repair them yourself?
    Thanks
    Rich

    • @leighwilson1524
      @leighwilson1524  4 года назад

      Hi Rich, Congratulations on it finally arriving. The paint is pretty sturdy and I only have 4 small chips on the front and at this stage you don't see them so I have left them. I plan to re-clay and wax the D5 every 12 months. If you have time give me a 3 months report on your car. I am always interested in how other people D5 are going.

    How noisy (or quiet) are those new tires?

    • @leighwilson1524
      @leighwilson1524  4 года назад +1

      Hi runNride, At 100 kph there is no noise, at 80kph the road noise increases by 5%, at 60kph by 10% at constant speed. When reaccelerating without brake is when they are the noisiest but if you are like me and have the radio on you don't notice it. On a broken sealed road they are actually quieter than the standard tyre. They are standard fitment on the Australia Ford Ranger Raptor and the upcoming Grenadier. I am a member of the Land Rover Discovery Group Australia (Facebook) and the members there have mostly Nitto or G F Goodrich.

    how is the comfort and handling is it good for long journeys

    • @leighwilson1524
      @leighwilson1524  4 года назад +3

      Long distance driving is very fatigue free and comfortable. Sometimes I have been disappointed that the drive is over. Handling is great for a 4x4 but still leans on roundabouts. I am not sure if it is my imagination, but on long twisty roads I thing the air suspension adjust and sits flatter than when you go round a one off tight corner. The most comfortable long distance car I have had.

    how is this a review of this vehicle? Some interesting things you talk about, but this is definitely not a review..... I think 30 seconds of it were actually a review..."in two years you've had no issues other than a software update". that's all I got from this.
