  • It's nearly an hour long, but we think this video is well worth your time to get an insight into how top matchman James Robbins covers all bases when he fishes any contest. He was second by a slim margin in RiverFest Final on Sunday 4th November 2018, fished over two days on the River Severn at Shrewsbury, UK. In this video, he reveals all the tips and tactics which he used to secure the runner-up spot. If you are an angler wanting to learn and improve, then we think you will need to watch this video more than once to take in all the depth of knowledge James offers.
Cameraman Chappy commented; "James is red hot at the moment, at the top of his game and fully focussed. I reckon this is the most informative video I have ever filmed with him. It was a joy to watch and listen to the man, and I've filmed a lot of top anglers over the years." Let us know what you think. You never know, even the phantom thumbs downers might like this one! LOL! ENJOY!

brilliant as ever. Not only is James a top angler, presenter and tackle innovator, he also plays the guitar and does the humming on the background track. What a man

The thing I like about James' videos is that he doesn't just push product, say compared to people flogging groundbait (I cringe when I hear 'the mix' now). The rig explanations really help beginners and improvers (is that a word) like me.

Just caught up with this video. I am not a match angler but I find James and the other ambassadors always engaging and always pick up some tips. Well done.

love these videos, pick up something from every video, i had a good shoal of roach on me sunday and i held back on the maggot and fed only hemp thiking this was better for roach fishing, so the comment about feeding more maggot and less hemp has got me thinking for next session, best fishing vids on net imo as teach,

Great fishing I love my roach fishing and will be buying two rods the cadence 15ft and the 16ft as I used the 16ft on the Hampshire Avon last day of the season had a good bag of roach my best being 2.8lb and bringing that in was effortless.

Very interesting and thoughtful insightful look at how to approach a match, plus a few extras that can be used to make the frame.
Well done again James and chappy.

Brilliant method Allan thanks for expecting the in and outs of it and I will definitely be given it a go would it work on a river in summer with hardly any flow over weed being a perfect place for roach or even with hemp and wheat baits but may thanks again Allan 👍👍

How can anyone dislike a Cadence video.i might not always agree with all the thinking but that doesn’t detract from the video. A wonderful in-depth analysis from James on the match and his thinking. As always Ian’s camera work is superb with multiple angles. The only thing I would say is this was aimed at serious match anglers who can afford a flagship pole with several long topkits. Most ordinary anglers can’t afford to have this kind of set up, but that is what you sometimes need, but not always, if you are a serious match angler. A good point James did mention was that a cheaper pole was very hard work at full length whereas a good pole made it much easier for him to fish at longer lengths unfortunately that does require a large outlay! All in all a cracking good video and well done James, shame you couldn’t get the win. Next year? Regards Bill

This is how angling videos should be. Well composed, Pleasant and informative with relaxed commentary. Not the manic whooping and high-fiving that seems to come with so many now (what are those carp boys on??)

congratulations for the riverfest 2nd place. the amount of maggots and hemp used for the session was amazing, but you didnt overfeed the fish. there must be allot of them red fins. keep up the good job!

Hi Fred, yes I meant 0.097mm. Made a mistake! Don't think I'd have had many bites on 0.97mm ! Cheers James
