Interesting. For me this was closest to back to black but I would say a much more manly less powdery version of it. Awesome review and I agree its a good one! And I was lucky enough to get it at $45. But now that I own it, if I do ever run out (not likely as its fucking nuclear) I would not hesitate to pay the $80

Hi Peter, I think I would suggest Pure Havane more. It's a little more useful, in my opinion. I love both though. But I personally kept PH and gave away this one just because I like PH a little more.
It's quite strong at first, I thought I would not like it, and about an hour later I was like, WOW this is the best smelling fragrance I've ever had! So just make sure you put it on early, and wait and see if you don't get compliments galore!
I agree, but this is hard as hell to wear right now in East Texas 100 degree weather. I can't wait to wear it in cooler weather. It is awesome though. I have the body wash that is really enjoyable too. Honey is a nice natural good smell. I love it.

It's hard to say whether or not someone should blind buy something, since I don't know your taste. But I will say that though there are similarities, there are also differences. To me, Herod is has a "watery" smell that I enjoy, while this has a "syrupy" smell that I enjoy. They each have distinct textures. But if anything, this is a cheaper alternative, making this a great everyday choice. I usually save Herod for special occasions.

How close do you think this is to pure havane? I haven't smelled any of the niche offerings. I enjoy tobacco scents but I ended up selling my pure havane since it smelled to much like one of the people who comes into my work and it started to gross me out a bit since he smells so strongly like pipe tobacco. If I don't like it I suppose I could just decant it haha!

This was unbelievable when I first cracked the top and it still astounds me every time I douse myself. You guys didn't mention this note, but I sometimes experience an ashtray smell along with a liquor smell. I just love the hell out of the fragrance and I'm proud to own it. To get into this fragrance genre, I figured I would have to spend $150-$220 on one bottle. A must-have for any honey/tobacco/whiskey vibe enthusiast. Hell the bottle is in the shape of a shaker and the top is reminiscent of a jigger. Enjoy

However, I recently purchased DUA Fragrances (Mobster and Sweet Tobacum) and guys these 2 are difinitly, unequivocally in the same ballpark as T.V and Herod. These 2 are winners in every category!!
Actually you DIDN'T incorrectly quote the price. When it initially popped up on Amazon, it was between $35 and $45 dollars. Within a week, they doubled the price. I still feel, however, that this is completely justified, given the quality of the fragrance. Counter intuitive as it may seem, sometimes pricing something too low will yield fewer sales, since people will just assume that the quality is not good and that that is the reason for the lower price tag. Still, I DO hope the price stays at $80, and doesn't shoot up like crazy when this starts getting even more hype in the fragrance community.

I'm not going to add more to all the good things said here about this fragrance, which I agree with. This is a big welcome surprise. I love it. However on the subject of tobacco I m detecting much more tonka than tobacco, way more. Tonka can smell very close to tobacco. It can even mimic it well. You can get the tonka - tobacco effect on a tonka based fragrance like L'Occitane's Eau de Baux. That frag gives a heavy tobacco vibe but it is all tonka. So tonka can serve to magnify the effect of tobacco at a cheaper price. So I detect a lot of tonka than this video suggest, which my nose can tell apart very well as I'm experienced with those tonka beans well). There may be tobacco here but in a much lesser degree. So in a way I think Fragrantica's scent breakdown is very accurate.
It would be nice if you worked out some sort of coupon or a discounted link of some sorts. I'm just saying, the price did jump up quite a bit. I'm sure they'll be receptive. Thanks for everything you do for the community.

I have been looking for a new signature scent for the past 10 years to replace Chanel's Pour Monsieur now that it has been completely discontinued. This really fits the bill for me, even though they are complete different genres. Although this is more suited to the winter/ fall, I think this can be worn year-round, and it's rugged enough for casual jeans and a t-shirt wear, but refined and complex enough to be worn with a suit. This has less of a cinnamon vibe than Tom Ford's Tobacco Vanille, it's a little sweeter than Pure Malt/ Pure Havanne (both of which I personally find highly overrated), and it's considerably more masculine and less cloying than by Kilian's Back to Black. I can understand the comparison with A*men, but it's so much more pleasant, without that tar/asphalt accord. I actually do get like a Tonka bean soaked in red wine kindof vibe from this, together with a lot of very natural vanilla (as opposed to vanallin). Fantastic fragrance! Thank you so much for the awesome recommendation! Also, great to see you another review with Jer. The bros had to reunite to do this one justice!
Hi guys! Do you think it would ne appropriate to wear in a suit in the office? I'm looking for a designer or niche fragrance (whatever the price) that is classy enough to wear in the office. I only have spicebomb for now in this genre (cinamon but not tobacco) and I only wear it obviously casually.
I just received mine and for the first hour it smells like Oajan by parfums de Marley because of the honey vanilla tonka blend minus the cinnamon note.And it does remind of Xerjoff Naxos because of thee vanilla tonka honey blend also,but in Xerjoff Naxos the quality & tobacco is most noticeable.
