I was lucky enough to get a mini lop that likes being carried, every couple minutes he will lick my ankles until I pick him up… he then snuggles and grinds his teeth for a few minutes while I pet him, then nudge my hand away when he’s ready to go back down… it’s so cute and he does it about 10 times a day and usually 3-4 times in a row (I’ll put him down, he’ll run around the house then want to be picked up again)
Perfect timing! I just got a bunny and was wondering the best way to pick her up so she doesn't get hurt. THANK YOU! Also, I gotta ask - do you also sew? I noticed a sewing room pic on your website...
@@HooksHollands Awesome!!! I noticed you had a sewing machine in a couple other videos and make the snuggle mats yourself. With all you have going on, I don't even know how you manage to fit everything in - it's so impressive. Plus, you have a multi-needle embroidery machine so you must mean business!
Ha ha, well, I do struggle to find time for sewing and only have basic skills, but I find it mostly relaxing and enjoyable. I also have a 10 needle Tajima embroidery machine that I used for my former business, but it sadly sits unused currently. There aren't enough minutes (or energy) in a day for everything! Your vids are great quality, by the way. I don't even like sewing THAT much and still subbed. :)
I know the right way... thanks though as many don’t.... unfortunately my bunny hates being picked up and rarely lets me. My previous bun loved to be picked up and cuddled. She was my first bun and I didn’t realize how lucky I was !. Still miss her cuddles.
I always carry my bunnies with my right arm/hand holding and supporting their bottom and my left arm/hand supporting their upper body. Great video Diane! This is a very helpful and informative video! :)
I've been doing this all wrong! Thank you for posting these helpful tips. I've learned so much from your bunny videos that have helped our bunny crew. Putting bunnies back in their enclosure after playtime is when they always freak out. I will try this new method and I'm sure will have a better experience.
I bought a GoPro early this spring for filming slo-mo bunny shots but decided to give it a whirl as my main camera since it has 4K capabilities. I wasn't sure if viewers even cared to watch in 4K vs. 1080. 🤷♀️
You are so good with your buns. I just adopted 2 new buns this fall, and they don't like to be picked up so I use the football method, where as my old guys don't mind to be picked up at all, they are use to it. Thanks for sharing, I just had to watch one of your videos tonight...haha (I love holland lops). My new buns are lion heads, they needed a home so I took them in. I guess getting a holland lop isn't very close to my future now...ugh...but that's ok.
Love the lettice sharing❤🐇❤ Awww /••\Fozzy💕 All the years I have lived with rabbits i hadn't figured out to let them down backwards, that really makes beautiful sense!!~* Thank you for the great advise!! Lol even the train was nice to hear!!~*
my thumper throws a fit if i dont pick him up and carry him around and snuggle him, and im wondering if its because ive been doing it since he was 5 weeks old and his breeder was doing it before that
I think you just have one of the exceptional bunnies I spoke of in the video. :) I hold my babies since birth, and only a few continue to be content with picking up after they mature.
i wish you can show how to handle or pick up a bunny who actually does NOT like being picked up since most bunnies dont. its just not the same when its a bunny who is used to handling.
The bunny in the video actually dislikes being picked up and usually struggles as I walk with him. Firm but gentle grasp, covering their eyes and securing their legs is my best advice for bunnies who are difficult to handle.
I always wrap those buns in a towel (like a bunny "burrito") and having someone help hold while you trim the nails can be a game changer as well. ruclips.net/video/0we5CJ-YvCo/видео.html
Hi, I have a question and I have two bonded brothers that are neutered and 1 year old. I am considering a girl but in Puerto Rico there are no bunny rescue places so the only choice I have is to purchase a baby female bunny. However I am scared of what I should do as far as bonding her with my bonded pair, one because she will be only about a month or two old and secondly because she cant be spayed until she's at least five months. What can you recommend?
IMO, you can slowly and carefully have supervised bonding sessions as soon as she's eating/drinking/pooping well and curious to explore her new environment. You would need to be prepared in case she would need separated at any point, but with your boys being neutered already, that should help a lot. There is always a chance they would not get along, but they could be a great trio...you just never know for sure.
Thank you for uploading this video. When I was younger a friend picked up my rabbit the wrong way and it panicked (seeing how high it was off the floor) and broke its back leg :(
Great video, Diane. Informative and, as always, fun. Wish I had seen this 5 yrs ago when my BeBe was a baby --- and I dropped her. She hit her face on a table and we ended up at the Vet. She was okay but I still feel badly, even today, and it was just because I had no schooling in bunny care. Your channel is a Godsend. Thank you.
I'm no longer breeding bunnies and just have my remaining few as pets and am working daily on my other channel. I had covered so many rabbit care topics that without the baby bunnies, I lost motivation to continue.
@@HooksHollands thank you for taking the time to reply your channel here has been a source of comfort and entertainment for many people over the years, and hopefully will continue to do so for many years to come I wish you well in your future endeavours, but will miss not having new videos of your lops
Such a cute video. I’m scared to pick up my 5 month old HL. He comes and cuddles and listens awesome he just doesn’t like to be picked up. I have a medium clear tote I cute a U shape in on one side and that’s his litter box and hay. I’ve trained him to jump in when he needs to be moved. He is free range from when I wake up until I go to bed. I love him 😍
Where in the world do you get your bunny shirts, I can’t ever find any in my size☹️ thank you for such informational content, I am getting two Holland Lops August 6th. One is a Vienna Marked broken Tort and the other is a Chestnut Vienna Marked both are from the same litter. I am naming them Meadow and Fiver, both are females. I love your bunny videos, I’m getting the bunnies from a reputable breeder in my area.
I have a shop with tons of bunny designs on t-shirts (women's sizes and men's through 3XL I believe)! shop.spreadshirt.com/hooks-hollands/ Best of luck with your new buns!
Awesome video! Very informative and great showing the proper way of picking and holding buns. Hopefully it becomes more known on how to pick up and holding bunnies. Thank you! 😊
Should I try practising this with my bunny, maybe once a week, to get her used to it? Or should I only do this when I really have to, i.e. once a month to trim nails. I wonder if doing it more often will help her get used to it faster.
I need help my pregnant bunny has been pregnant for 33 days and she didn’t give birth yet but she is bleeding in her private area I don’t what to do can someone help me if she gonna be okay and have the babies

Aw
Loved the kitty intro!!! 😂 This was super helpful! Definitely will be a huge benefit to us. We have been trying to practice “being held”
It's awful when guests come over and just pick them up without thinking. Poor things
Ikr!
That’s why they must have their own room like a teenager with all perfect facilities

Why won't my bunnies let me pick them up or hold them? They will jump on furniture but will kick if I try to hold them when I'm standing.

Do you have any videos for cutting nails of a bunny who is hyper and does not want to be held?
I always wrap those buns in a towel (like a bunny "burrito") and having someone help hold while you trim the nails can be a game changer as well. ruclips.net/video/0we5CJ-YvCo/видео.html

The correct procedure to lift Hollands to carry them; is like securing the bunny within the arms.
