    I really enjoy what you share.
    I have kept rabbits for over 24 years, everything from Angora, Rex, Cashmere Lops to Mini Lops. I still have many rabbits.
    I do not brush my rabbits at moult time as they detest it. I have always given my rabbits hay in huge amounts EVERYDAY,, like, more hay than rabbit.
    Hay has the long chain fiber that keeps the gut moving, so.... even if fur is injested, which it is, the massive amounts of hay keep it moving.
    I have never had a case of wool block ever.
    This comment is not meant to contradict your advice, just another way of looking things.

    Great video for new bunny owners, brushing is very very important. I've had a lot of experience with bloating rabbits, and it's NOT fun!! Even with a diet of pellets, lots of hay and a few greens my bunnies still seem to bloat , but I know the signs and I know what to do. Thanks for sharing. Hope your bunnies are doing well.❤🐰

    I just brushed my bunny 🐰 today aaaannnndddd... da daadaa - HE HATED IT!! I use the hair buster & I love it 🥰
    What helps him is if a put some hay on the table I groom him on (I put a towel down) & some toys because apparently my bunny llikes to toss things when I brush him so I put stacking cups on the table, a teaspoon of pellets & some dried raisins for a after reward 😊 where I get the most hair for my bunny because he’s a Dutch he has like a line where his brown first starts kind on his back/behind area and that’s were I get the most fur out lol 😂

    I have had good results with using a boar bristle shaving brush. You can get these in the men's section at the pharmacy. They are soft but if you condition the brush then the bristles develop split ends which makes them a magnet for fine rabbit hairs.

    I love these bunnies. Question: I see a lot of bunnies late at night at the park near my home. Are bunnies normally nocturnal?

    • @HooksHollands
      @HooksHollands  3 года назад +6

      Bunnies are crepuscular, meaning most active early evening and in the morning. They generally sleep late morning through mid-afternoon and off and on through the night, but they are somewhat active during the night, yes.

    It was good seeing all the bunnies together again. I bet that comb will work well on my cat's fur. I have a small metal comb without the silicone. I saw that it costs $20, not cheap. 🐇🐾🐱

    • @HooksHollands
      @HooksHollands  3 года назад

      Yeah, I wish it were cheaper too, but it is so effective (and durable in my experience) that it's a worthy investment. I've wasted a lot of money on cheaper brushes/combs that don't work well too. 🤪

    Hi we are about to adopt a mini lop so I have a question is that with they ears some have down loopy ears and some kind of half straight pointy ear we ask the breeder if the ears will drop all the way down and she said it will drop in a year was wondering if it true ? Will it really drop all the way down or stay mid way pointy

    Hi Diane we love watching your videos here in the UK. Your bunnies are so well behaved but I'm not surprise as you train them so well. We have a rescue bun that's very difficult to handle never mind brush. He also loves to jump out his pen. Where did you get your fantastic perspex pen from / what brand is it? Thanks very much Simon

    • @HooksHollands
      @HooksHollands  3 года назад +1

      Hi Simon. The exercise pen in this video is from Clearly Loved Pets. I have the shorter (27" tall I believe) pen, but I'd recommend their taller version for adult bunnies or good hoppers. :)

    Last week I was brushing one of my bunnies (with the same hair buster comb that you have) and soooo much fur was coming out. I then discovered that my bunny had bald spots from the grooming!! 😱 I’ve never had this happen before, so of course I freaked out and stopped grooming him! My bunny seems ok but he’s still trying to regrow the fur in those spots. Have you ever had this happen? My bunny is 1 year old.

    • @HooksHollands
      @HooksHollands  3 года назад

      I've had what looked like bald spots appear during molts, but upon closer inspection, there is usually very short new fur growing there. I wouldn't be concerned unless it were a lot of bald skin/spots or if there were flakes on the skin (possibly indicating fur mites).

    Here's the puzzle, for thousands of years of evolution, they had no one to brush them and they survived, but I agree they must be brushed

    • @HooksHollands
      @HooksHollands  3 года назад +2

      True, but my argument would be that wild rabbits, over thousands of years, demonstrated a "survival of the fittest" concept, with only those with the most keen instincts and robust bodies (i.e. digestive systems) surviving longer than a few seasons. Domestic rabbits are indeed sensitive, for the most part, and definitely benefit from having the loose fur removed. :)
