      Our pleasure, Sensei! If you can't find a rubber chicken there by you, let me know and we'll send one up with Sensei Nigel when he next goes home. Keep up the amazing work with the kids, it is such important and irreplaceable work.

    WOW! Thankyou, Sensei, for (once again) sharing so freely your insights and innovations. How blessed are your students to have such a teacher and dojo. Great, too, to have a tour. Please can we have a lesson on kongoken drills, and a series on your take on ground work/newaza?

    • @GojuRyuKarateCentre
      @GojuRyuKarateCentre  2 года назад +1

      Sensei!
      Your wish is our command! We will work towards a kongoken video, and once our mats are down in the autumn here, we'll be sharing a lot more on groundwork and newaza!
      Nage-waza is my speciality (Zoë), so I hope to share that as well once we get the mats down (and we don't smash Keanu-deshi on the wooden floor).
      We have been so lucky to learn from so many, and all those who also share freely on the internet. The least we can do is pay it forward :)

    Thanks for sharing such innovative ideas on training in your dojo. I can't imagine a bored student in your dojo Che Sensei.

      Ah, thank you, Sensei John! We always try to practice earnestly with creativity. With a true karate journey being such a long one, it's important to try keep things fresh and interesting. There's no reason for karate to be boring, even when its tough :)

    Amazing dojo :)
    That's a place I would like to visit - sometime.
    At around 15:40, the movement sequence reminds of thrusting a bo or spear :)

    Very nice dojo. I find you comments about winter funny...umm we get snow and ice here in the USA when it is like -10c here at the moment. We loved our visit there in 2019 seeing our extended family. LOVED the weather, reminded us of California. Now the bars on the windows, and high crime was very strange to us. Thanks for the video.

    • @GojuRyuKarateCentre
      @GojuRyuKarateCentre  2 года назад

      Our winters are very cute, especially in Jozi! Bright sunny days, very rarely below 5 degrees. Just ugly and brown because it's so dry!
      We're so glad you enjoyed your visit to our country 🇿🇦
      sadly we do have to have the bars on the windows, though we have been lucky so far. You're the first person to notice and comment on it 🙈

    Thank you so much! recently i've been bullied and exploited much more. These older, larger students have been picking on me both online and physically. They specialize in Kung-Fu as a karate kid fan myself i differenciated to Karate in which help me countered their offense style of Kung-Fu on the bright side My issue is dealt with. I'll suggest myself to avoid fighting as much as possible though.

    • @GojuRyuKarateCentre
      @GojuRyuKarateCentre  2 года назад

      Well done! Standing up to bullies is the only thing that actually works, and as tough as it is, you did it! And you're right, the goal is not to keep fighting, but to enjoy your training for yourself. Like one of my favourite sayings goes: be soft, but be ready!
      Thank you so much for taking the time to watch and comment, we really appreciate it :)

    As usual, this tour shows how your training quality can be. I'm a bit sad when i see someone's licence from Okinawa, because mine burnt in a fire, but it's really something you can be proud of ! Was it our previous discuss about Hojo Undo that gave you the idea for this video ? ^___^
    Your dojo is great, and i really appreciate the parquet floor ! I'm always disappointed when i have to practice on a tatami in other schools...
    About your gears... You're stuffed !!!

    • @GojuRyuKarateCentre
      @GojuRyuKarateCentre  2 года назад

      Hello!
      Ah, that's so sad that your beautiful license is burnt - we hope you can replace it and restore it to your dojo wall. And yes, discussing hojo undo with you has inspired us to talk more about how we teach it!
      The parquet floor was a great labour of love - we installed it ourselves during lockdown, and we have a video of it if you want to see the transformation.
      We are very lucky to have so much gear - being gifted so much of it, and finding it in the right places. We trawl second-hand stores and scrap metal yards to get more when we can!

    • @Yeino
      @Yeino 2 года назад

      @@GojuRyuKarateCentre Yea you're absolutely right ! Having good gear is useful.
      I don't have any second-hand store next to my place, but i always find something to do with a metal piece or a thick wood branch. I've carved my suburito in a tree trunk (it's about 22kg) for working my percussion in Tojutsu (swords). My back muscles have thickened a lot thanks to this. I thought about it when i was watching you showing movements with the sledgehammer. I told you i used mine for the Chishi practice, but i limit it to warming up wrists, elbows and shoulders or the Bojutsu straight strikes. I've never thought about axe movements like chopping wood or cutting tree trunk. I'm going to give it a try in my next training session !

    "Home of the Jaguars"? I thought it's a home of some constipated cranes (like sanchin, not these ADD chickens). :) But very nice dojo, indeed! And of Jundokan lineage that personally pleases me.
    P.S. but where is your tulips garden???

    • @GojuRyuKarateCentre
      @GojuRyuKarateCentre  2 года назад +1

      The Jundokan runs strong in both our lineages!
      I have been in 3 different federations, but all of them trace back directly to Jundokan, though I didn't have a clue what that meant when I started.
      Tulips! In South Africa?! What we should have is a protea garden, but in October we'll share photos of when the dozens of rose bushes and the cherry, almond and peach trees are in full blossom in the dojo garden. That's the best time to train in the dojo garden.

    • @Burvedys
      @Burvedys 2 года назад

      @@GojuRyuKarateCentre : South African Dutchmen aren't growing tulips anymore??? Tell me you're into diamonds now! :)
      I had both So Honbu and OGGK patches on my gi once and awhile and my sensei was studying in IOGKF with Morio so I've learned some kata and methods from that lineage, too. But it's all Jundokan.
