Picked up a “gutted” ywing shell from a flea market super cheap. Clean it, fixed the landing gear mechanism and replaced the stickers (same source you mentioned). Finally replaced all missing parts with 3d printed parts, and now have a complete/very displayable toy! Great vid!
Very nice! Zac Paris makes a quality product, doesn't he? Who made the 3d printed parts? Is the plastic somewhat flexible I picked up some 3D printed cannons off of eBay that were a real disappointment. If a guy so much is looked at them wrong they were so brittle that they broke in half.
@@classicalvintagecollector got most from a Canadian eBay seller (as I’m in Canada) called Galaxy Shipyards. Loved giving the discarded toy new life, done it with a couple other vintage Star Wars vehicles since.
@@douglasbutler1319 It is nice to see someone else restoring toys that some hardcore collectors and would turn up their noses at and consider worthless.
wow nice to see you still have your stuff from the 80s I lost all my stuff after going in the army and started collecting again after the 20th anniversary my 1st ship was Darth Vader's tie fighter the land speeder the droid factory han leia chewy the droids luke vader and about 7 other figures then to things increased my play one was the adventure people and Buck Rodgers toys I had many missions with the mix of same size toys and my friends star wars stuff
Beautiful Condition in both Y Wings I. I have the vintage collection Toys R Us Exclusive which has some the same features as the original. It features a working little computer. I’ve been trying to fix it
Great vid. I wanted the ‘04 but it was gone so fast I missed it somehow. Should have grabbed it as soon as I saw it. One important thing: you’ve incorrectly applied a sticker on the front bottom of the original. The sticker you have just behind and perpendicular to the front landing gear is supposed to be inside the well of the landing gear.
currently, I have 4 Y-Wings in my collection. (1) - POTF Target Exclusive Y-Wing (2) - 30th Anniversary Toys R Us Exclusive Y-Wing (3) - TVC Toys R Us Exclusive Y-Wing (my personal favorite of the officially released Y-Wings) finally and most impressively..... (4) - Custom Made ROTJ Gray Leader Y-Wing w/ custom ladders & custom figure of Gray Leader himself "Horton Salm" the only 2 I'm currently missing are both of the Y-Wings your showcasing in this video (the vintage Kenner version & the OTC version). aside from the custom made Gray Leader Y-Wing, I also have in my collection a custom made Hoth V-Wing Airspeeder that was custom made "kit bashed style" from Outer Rim Creations. unfortunately I don't have a pilot just yet, but the ship is a sheer beauty. it was made with parts from both The Phantom Shuttle and the Kenner Airspeeder. it's a shame that Hasbro hasn't done a brand new figure sized Y-Wing Fighter toy for almost a decade (which it will be by 2022) since I'd love to see a brand new Y-Wing toy based on Gold Leader's Y-Wing either as a TVC version and/or as a Black Series version that can fit a 6 inch figure of Dutch "Gold Leader" Vander.
My understanding is there are five releases/variations of the same mold? I would venture to guess that only the 1983 Y-Wing has the electronics in it? I appreciate your comments. It sounds like you have a very nice collection.
@@classicalvintagecollector thanks. and you would be correct since they've basically reused the same exact molds from 1983 to 2012. sadly, Hasbro has yet to make a single brand new figure sized Y-Wing figure since the 2012 Toys R Us exclusive. which is funny because while it says Return Of The Jedi, it's actually based off of the Red Jammer version, which was a famous red colored version that they were originally going to go with in A New Hope. funny how the Y-Wings were originally going to be red while the X-Wings were originally going to be blue.
Sadly, the 1983 version of the Y-Wing doesn’t have a droid slot wide enough to fit a modern droid. Annoying because I just bought TWO original Y-Wings on eBay with the hope of inserting a droid in each one.
I have a vintage Kenner ywing I recently picked up off eBay… I didn’t realize it had working landing gear! Thanks for the video!
My brother had the Y-Wing and I thought it was the coolest ship. It had so many cool features.

Thank you. I have been very blessed and am even more blessed being able to share the hobby with my son
I only collect from the og 3 movies too...
I am able to squeeze a Disney Astromech into my 1983 Y-Wing. Quite cool.

Thanks for sharing and watching my video. Much appreciated!
Thank you for taking the time to do this!
You are most welcome!
Thank you Jim. The paraflim tip is very useful.
Awesome. I'm glad somebody found this video useful.
To my regret I never had a Y-wing, despite it being my favourite fighter from the films.

Red Y Wing I redid it with different parts, result came out looking like a ship from Andor 😂
Nice!

Great job! very informative!
Thank you.
Does the 2004 not have the two front chin guns, like the 1983?
It does. I just didn't take them our of the box
Thank you for this...

But.....they will fit the vintage Kenner and Stan Solo astromechs.
