Beautiful & masterful playing. He manages to keep it light and makes the melody sing throughout... and the melody is pretty beautiful, surprisingly, given how relentless this toccata is. Its thrilling.
Charming and clear playing! This piece makes you high, either you play it or just listen to it. Sounds like rock! I wonder why it remained so ignored. I prefer it to Schumann's, to be honest.
Just checked,. The source is Klavier und Gesang. Wieck had all 3 of his daughters play this and recommended - "For beginners, perhaps one or two of Hunten's Etudes Melodiques; a little later(!!!), one of Czerny's very judicious pieces from...opus 740; and for more advanced pupils after they are able to stretch easily and correctly, his Toccata, opus 92, - a piece which my three daughters never give up playing..."
The story is that Isabella Vengerova, who taught at the Curtis Institute of Music, had her students learn this piece BEFORE they learned the Schumann Toccata. @^@ !!!
Czerny, huge influence on Liszt, Schumann and Chopin (op10 etudes owe much to C's School of Virtuosity), basically, no Czerny probably no Romantic era in piano music
I agree. Liszt undoubtedly wouldn't be the master technician he was without his training under Czerny. Basically the entire romantic virtuosity style evolved from Czerny's output.

Veramente bravissimo!! Nonostante le difficoltà tecniche, è riuscito a mantenere splendidi fraseggi!

Apparently the Schumann toccata was inspired by this - I gather the Czerny Toccata was used by Clara Wieck's father to develop technique.

The perpetual mobile of Weber is a thing but the Toccata of Czerny is more terrifying for the youngs pianists
Most excellent. Spectacular, really. Bravo!

fantastic! I shouted bravo out loud! :-)
really fine musical (and enthusiastic) rendition

Of course! It is an excelent preparation for Schumann, but also for every duble-note technique.

Brillantemente strepitoso. Complimenti! giu,mo
Perfetto! o.o
Talk about endurance!
it is great
this is a lot like the schuman toccata and the chopin Op. 25/6
I would say schumann toccata only, this piece sounds nothing like chopin op.25 n.6

Wow, which year was it recorded?
une pezzo che schumann doveva conosciuto prima scrivesse la sua toccata proprio.
