Your video is very helpful! I did this job today. My experience was that the heater hoses up by the firewall were zip-tied to a plastic bracket. You need to snip the zip tie to get enough play in the hoses to pull them aside to get the core out and in. Once the hoses are loose you have to really push them out of the way with force. I used a zip tie through the small bolt hole in the brake pedal arm to hold them up and out of the way while I put the core in. I put a piece of cardboard from a shoe box along the back side of the core over the fins to help it slide into the hole and then pulled the cardboard back as I went. This allowed the core to slide right in with no crimping. Brake switch was the opposite of the pipes-after pushing switch towards the front of the car to release the tabs and then very gingerly tilting down while compressing the clips and then the switch came out.
Thank you for this video. Indid this exact repair today and it was pretty straight forward exect getring rhe clips back on in my volvo proved to be a tremendous task.
How looks heater core coolant inner tubings comparing old OEM and new? How much I know, most of aftermarket parts (NRF, Nissens and others) has 2 times less, but much bigger in diameter inner tubings, than OEM Volvo. I wanted to know how could that affect heating in - 20°C.
This is the same procedure for a 2004-06 XC70 as well? Im getting lukewarm heat and I want 'sauna' hot.Did it do the job for ur vehicle or replacing the thermostate is allso needed.
You didn't have to drain the radiator. Why not just disconnect the heater core hoses on the firewall? The pressure will hold all the coolant in the system as long as you don't open up the reservoir.
+Reinna Matthews Thanks for watching! The heater core itself is the same, but the repair process might be different. We do not have a video for the V70 Wagon at this time.
I just installed mine and the hose clamps won’t fit bc the o ring doesn’t go into the heater core. I hit it with a rubber mallet as hard as I can. I’m at a loss of what to do right now
Right in the center of the dash, against the firewall. You have to remove the entire dash to replace it but it can be seen if you remove the cabin air filter and look through the hole
+Arturo Hernandez We wouldn't be able to diagnose an issue like that here, you may want to have a local mechanic take a look at it. Thanks for checking us out! 1aau.to/m/Shop-1AAuto-c
I have one more thing to help people with this job....push on the aluminum pipes inward to relieve pressure off the clips.tge key to this job is not to bend these clips .as soon as the get bent your gonna be pissed trying to get em back in .use a little grease on new o rings and put pressure on pipe to get em back in .I hate this job in my v70 .pipes are in a horrible place.
Uhhhhh hey! There's another heater core on the passenger side I should know it just leaked coolant all over the floor of the car.you need to tell people this stuff ....unless they had some with it on the left instead of the passenger side.
To late now but I realize you either need a lift so you can stand and work or you need to be very small to get into this space. Not finished yet, wish I had just bought a new car! Hate my wifes volvo, Plastic and aluminum do not make good car parts

2004 XC70 Looks very close to replace, does the steering column need to be removed?

Is this the same process for a 2013 Volvo XC60 V6?
does the XC60 T6 2010 have it in the same location?

I'm about to do this with my XC90. I do not see a reason to drain all the coolant, unless the system needs to be flushed.
I wish my Dodge was that easy to change!
Is it the same process for a 2004 Volvo station wagon v70

Do I need that bottom piece of foam in my 00 V70? It didn't come with one...
Where is the heater core located on the p3 volvo v70, s80, s60?
I just installed mine and the hose clamps won’t fit bc the o ring doesn’t go into the heater core. I hit it with a rubber mallet as hard as I can. I’m at a loss of what to do right now
Where is the AC evaporator on the 2007 XC90?
Right in the center of the dash, against the firewall. You have to remove the entire dash to replace it but it can be seen if you remove the cabin air filter and look through the hole
I replaced the heater core and the hole thermostat assembly but my xc90 heater doesn’t blow hot air and has overheated

man... you could have saved a whole lot of time and effort by clamping off the rubber hoses going into the firewall. other than that great video
