Awesome at Level 1: Encounter of the Week

Here is an awesome level 1 encounter that you can drop into any dnd campaign. Epic heroism shouldn't just be saved for epic tiers of play. Have the players punch well above their level!
ENCOUNTER NOTES:
Creature - Living Iron Statue
Damage Adjustments:
Blade & Hammer = 1d8 + 3
Whirl = DC 10 Dex Save & 2d6 + 3 bludgeoning damage
Acid Vats
AC of 10 and 8 hit points. If destroyed, a vat will unleash acid in a 10ft radius from itself. A creature caught in the radius will take 4d10 acid damage.
A DC 15 Athletics check can knock the vat over releasing acid. A DC 10 Intelligence check can rig the acid vat to unleash its acid at a time designated by the creature who succeeded on the check.

The actual combat was fun but for the love of god limit the ability of your players to collect the acid. My players at level 1 decided to try and pretty much crash the economy by selling vials of acid afterwards.

I don’t love any encounter where assuming the party figures something out decides whether they have a TPK or not.
You telegraph it well enough… but I’ve seen players be stumped by less.

My players 1st fight was against an ogre.
