  • Just think of a country that buys garbage from other countries, and its residents feel comfortable wearing second-hand clothes and taking bottles to recycling centers. Pretty weird, isn't it? Well, if you've already imagined a Godforsaken third-world state, then you're wrong. We're talking about Sweden, one of the richest countries in Europe, which has become the absolute record holder in recycling. So today you'll find out how Sweden turns trash into gold.
One percent. That is how much trash ends up in Swedish landfills. According to the Swedish waste management association Avfall Sverige, Sweden now recycles more than 99 percent of household waste. The recycling system works so well that Sweden serves as an example for almost all developed countries concerned about environmental issues. Why does this system work?

Do you recycle your waste? How do you feel about recycling in general?

    • @logans3365

Iv started recycling, especially metals, it makes no sense to dig it up, refine, forge, and distribute it, just to burry it back into the ground.
We have buried so much metal that some companies have actually stared mining landfills.
Am I the only one thinking it would be better to just salvage the metal in the first place? It’s not that hard

Thanks for your good lectures about the waste management of Sweden. That's good efforts to protect the natural resources from the impact pollution of the waste and also well experience. But we must do the other countries impact be considered

The fact that they realized this in 1970 is awesome!!! Things could be SOOOOOO much better if every other country followed this example.

Only all the things that make the best fuel for incinerators, are better recycled into new goods, like cardboard, and plastic.

@@logans3365only a small fraction of that waste can actually be recycled

As a swede i see this as a bit exaggerated... and not 100% correct.
But the big picture is correct.

Thank you for the comment! Yes, it's amazing how one country uses trash to generate energy while another uses it to harm the ecology.

Recycling is just common sense, unfortunately the average human lacks the foresight required to see the consequences their actions Inflict upon the future.
It’s crazy how much backlash I get when recommending simple actions that have big impacts if everyone does them, such as collecting your aluminum cans, or using reusable plates instead of paper. People act like I’m telling them to go live in caves, hunting and gathering.

We simply forget our economy needs to be circular. Without circulation, society collapse.

I'm sure they are recycled as well. Don't demonize weapons as they are simply a tool to ensure safety and yes can be used by evil but also keep evil at bay.

It’s certainly not mastered, but it is one of the closest, 50% gets burned which is a dead end, not a circle.
