My favorite, hmm. I'm kind of torn between this one, "Cosmic," or "Beautiful Morning." "We love you" is really cool too. It's a fun journey to listen to this album. Knowing how Avenged is, though, I need more time, like years, to know which one is going to be my favorite. To my mind, they are the best band ever.
My new favorite way to kill time is watching other people react to Cosmic. I wish I could go back and listen to it for the first time so now I live vicariously through people like you.
I said the exact same thing when they teased Nobody. I liked him in the stage but he goes far beyond that here. Mixed with Haners genius, kinda reminded me of rev in a few songs. RIP Jimmy!
Yes. I saw it on his first album with him.. it really fits where they have gone and where they are going. As much as I loved the Rev and his stuff on the other albums....and it was perfect for those... Brookes is phenomenal and brings something very different but very dynamical fits so well with this musical path they have taken.
Ive seen a LOT of comments saying "they forgot how to write transitions, the record is a mess, it sounds chaotic." This song tells me that all of those "chaotic" design choices were just that, choices. They did not "forget how to write transitions." They wanted to try something new and let the music truly tell a larger story. I love this song to bits.
@@dicodec did the same the day it came out. Had one good listening session with a joint, the next day i sat cross legged in the dark and listened with my eyes closed. Euphoric experience indeed.
Right, some of the transitions are jarring and that’s what the band intended. I guess most people just have their idea of a “transition” in their head and don’t wanna deviate from that.
The transitions specifically is the rnb element they’ve been talking about. Rnb albums typically don’t have dramatic transitions and just sorta hit a different part.
This song actually affected me for days, I felt super emotional and on the verge of tears, super melancholic but happy at the same time. The whole album is an artful masterpiece, but this song is on another level.
Man idk why i never get emotional from music where i felt i could have a few tears and this song hits me still after 20 times like it did the first time.
To be honest, I’m sure our language requires a new word to try to describe this new emotion that I continue to feel while listening to this song. It’s similar to what you try to describe. It is fucking incredible that I only get to experience it through this song, and that’s it. HOW TF can I feel so sad but kinda grateful and hopeful AT THE SAME TIME 😂
Life is but a Dream reminds me of when Linkin Park dropped "A Thousand Suns". Very polarizing and not what was expected on release but now everyone likes it years later. I think it will be the same for A7X's new album, people just need time.
It’s the part of the song that hits me every single time. Long story short my wife and I had a miscarriage in 2019, so when the auto tune kicks in I immediately think that it’s our lost child speaking back to us
I get how it’s really hard for people to accept that a7x is in their mid 40’s now, and Matt isn’t able to scream that much anymore, etc. but they did what they were comfortable with doing in LIBAD. They did what they wanted to do and they were still so creative with this new album. There are some negatives but I think there are a lot more positives that come from it along with the fact that they’re not one of those bands that does the same shit every single album. It shows how insanely talented and creative these guys are to be able to explore all sorts of sounds and still make them sound good. To the people who only listen to A7X for their interest of metal, they probably hated it. Just because it doesn’t fuel YOUR interest, doesn’t mean this is a shitty album. At least respect their passion
I…agree with 99.9% of what you said, but Matt has some killer screams on this album that are as strong as anything he’s done since the early days. Regardless, yeah i think most people that are just outright hating on it didn’t even want to accept what the band was doing in the first place, and its ok if its not someone’s style, but like you said, you gotta respect it. It’s a solid album even if its not for everyone.
I've never cried to a song that wasn't "in your face, you're going to cry because this is a sad song with a sad music video" before this song. Somehow this song is sad because the listener MAKES it sad. It has this amazing ability to pull memories and thoughts out of you that just put this whole picture together, and makes you think of the past, present, future, and beyond, and all your loved ones. Incredible song writing.
It really makes me think that they miss their friend the Rev. That’s what makes it sad for me. I almost feel like they are talking to their friend in this song wish I he didn’t leave so soon.
Going from the new Metallica album to this one, it was a huge difference. Generic solos, and generic sounds in Metallica to this brilliant album. I've been a fan of A7X since City of Evil, and this album makes me so glad I stuck with the band. You can tell everyone in A7X had poured all their passion into these songs, and didn't want to be generic
They could have called it quits after their black album (which I think is their worst) but they had a song on their that I think paved the way for what they could be and it’s Acid Rain. And then The Stage walked so this album could run.
People have forgotten how to listen to music. It's a good thing I'm not an crazy a7x fan, so I wasn't expecting anything from the album. But I was pleasantly surprised, because this is what music should be. It's art, not just a bunch of singles. Those who don't like this album are the tiktok generation. Everyone expects heavy guitars, simple rhythm and predictable phrases. They are not interested in the message of the album, the lyrics and experiments. Believe me, people who really listen to Music and not singles, they will like the album because it is a journey. I'm glad the album turned out that way. It will stay on my playlist for a long time and I will listen to it in its entirety, not individual tracks.

This album, even if you don’t like it, is one of the most incredible pieces of music ever. The way everything is composed, the organic orchestra (and many other instruments played by Syn), the progressions, the quality. It’s simply great.
The part at 6:23 evokes a feeling of birth, like a big bang or the moment you were born and it just instantly grabs you and then emotion just pours out when Matt starts singing over the piano and slow drum. Its just so beautiful man.

Good reaction and analysis, this song is turning into one in a generation song I feel, it's epic. Just a couple of things though, as a drummer and live sound engineer of nearly 40 years. The snare crack on the quarter time at the start isn't a flam, it's a single stroke. The tom sound on the last moment are probably shallow steel toms with no bottom head, similar to the Phil Collins famous tom sound. It's great way to cut the fill in as you said, through the Phil Spectre style wall of sound. It's epic for sure.
Great video! One small thing, I don't think that's an organ/keys sound at the start, to me it sounds like an octave pedal playing 2 octaves up. You can hear from the very slight lossy quality of it. Keep the videos up dude!

A7x almost never uses autotune, they also do everything. They dont really like to rely on effects but obviously now theyre experimenting and branching out some more. Like in a little piece of heaven they had an orchestra and choir record with them and a female vocalist. The whole band can do backing vocals essentially too so they hardly ever need to use anything.
At 0:51 you say piano, but I believe it's a POG effect on the guitar. They did a breakdown of Exist and there's a similar tone in the song which they said was done using a POG pedal. Pretty cool sound though. Also at 3:08 I believe it's just a single hit and not a flam judging by the sound of it and only hearing one sticking. They just added a good bit of effects on it.
Sounds weird but I feel like you really need to be prepared to listen to an album like this, just to understand it.. Absolutely love this song, obviously the solo is nuts but the outro is something else 🤟🏻
the entire LIBAD album is very out there. goes from Avenged vibes to Rush, to Daft punk to Frank Sinatra it's everywhere and then the guitar tone on some tracks too.. I can see why people steer clear of the album but I am with you. it's amazing
I love it. I’m convinced that the line “Pain, it found its way back in, until we meet again, into that good night” is him talking about the last time he saw The Rev. M Shadows has struggled with the fact that after their roadie Jason’s wedding, he turned in for the night despite The Rev’s insistence that they take a keg left over from the wedding back to Shadow’s house that was just down the street from the wedding venue. He said good night to The Rev so he could get to bed because of his early tee time the following morning. He feels that if he just let The Rev stay that he could have protected him. The Rev told Shadows good night, he loved him, and scurried off into the night to continue the party with people he didn’t know. M is haunted by all the what if’s. Tragic.
When I listen to the newer songs, I always imagine that the parts that are now with the extreme effects on the vocals would maybe in a different time line have been sung by James. (Which when you imagine it in your head would have sounded incredible)
I haven't really heard any insightful criticisms of this album. Just people who were expecting something, put it on, didn't match their expectation, and said "it's trash" as if they're qualified to sum up a work of art that way. The album is brilliant. Cosmic isn't really my jam but I can appreciate the musicianship in it. My favorite is Beautiful Morning.

I love the album!
9:50 - 10:05 would be great if REV sings it. He has that high note they need
this is what i call "music". unique, catchy, progression and soul. this is music.
Cheers from Ukraine. Best A7X reaction on whole youtube so far. Appreciate analysis as well.
Cosmic just a pure masterpiece...
so grateful it came out in the world I live in
A7X foREVer 🤘🦇
that's not a piano at the beginning of the song, that's a shimmer effect from a reverb guitar pedal
Yup I can hear that
Hearing this song on my kali monitors for the first time was probably one of the best experiences I've ever had to be honest.
@Dicodec.. sure!
the entire LIBAD album is very out there. goes from Avenged vibes to Rush, to Daft punk to Frank Sinatra it's everywhere and then the guitar tone on some tracks too.. I can see why people steer clear of the album but I am with you. it's amazing
that brooks guy really killin it in this album, what a beast
One of their best albums ❤️
Fav album and Cosmic is now my fav song, in front of Exist and The Wicked End. It’s phenomenal
Brooks in this album totally captured me. He can turn a simple Bum ba bum bum ba into something really enjoyable 😂👏
I feel so much like Brooks is just what the Rev would have wanted for the guys ❤ the drums are so on point.
Tragic.
I had low hopes for this album based off we love you, but i have to say i am happy to be wrong and have had this allbum on repeat since it dropped
You're awesome man!
❤️
The build up on this track is ridiculously good. The music just takes you away. You said it all man.
This whole album is a book, needs to be heard from beginning to end to understand
Great vid! How did you get hold of the mixed track? Guessing some sort of patreon sub?
Amazing album.
Amazing song in an amazing album
8:20 lmfao. Syn is definitely one to make you feel the feel w his bends. Exhibit A: the end of ‘So Far Away’
everything and i mean everything, is guitars with effects added even the "organ"
This song is AMAZING!
you gotta do the entire album!
10:47 im glad you said something like 3 voices. You said 2 tracks and I thought i was crazy for hearing something else on the lower one lol
A7X writes for the ADD mind ❤️
Do the whole album !!
Cosmic genuinely made me tear up a bit when I heard it all genuinely flawless
Love this song, love Maximum the Hormone, you've got a new subscriber! Fantastic breakdown!
Yo here is when we first discovered maximum the hormone ruclips.net/p/PL1flmTbuu_RHk19cxm2s05ENEDwCZXF13
I think the people that say this is a trash album don’t understand music
Masterpiece, period
This album is making me work more on my less than beginner( 🙃 ) piano skills...
I love this album without knowing the reason. but after watching this, when my friend asked me again, I just had to show this channel.
Oh damn thanks!
