I think songs are mostly composed for Winwood's voice, which is way higher and different, than Clapton's so it would be hard for Eric to keep up. ALso Eric Clapton tried to remain low-profile in this particular project, be just one of the band members to rest after Cream's succesful years.

    • @andythomas706
      @andythomas706 9 лет назад

      William Charles I know what it is thank you! I know its in 5/4. You make my point for me. Baker gets a credit because he has a solo and so on....Agreed Clapton's solo on this is extraordinary. The section between 4.45 & 4.55 is the bit that gets me everytime. The way he pulls out of the hammered section with that devastating lick! Magic! The live Spoonful on 'Wheels' is Clapton's, and Cream's high water mark for me. Its a improvisation that ranks alongside things like Coltrane's Stockholm '61 version of 'My Favourite Things'! Clapton is still good. You play me 2 or 3 notes and I'll tell you if its him! Same applies to Miles!

    @excompost - I hear you loud and clear with Dave Brubeck; but it's only a basic touch. It's just too sad these guys only did one album in that formation.
