I have had this Kirkland blend twice and I definitely got an earthy scent and on my palette. I didn't get any peat. This would not be a whisky I'd use for a dram pour but I would use it in an Old Fashioned or a Manhattan. The Kirkland Islay expression was actually damn nice! It's hit and miss with Kirkland. In BC we don't have alcohol in our Costco stores so I get family to send it from Alberta (having a couple of the Islay expressions is worth it for the cost!!) or I pick some up in Seattle as it's fairly close to Vancouver. We pay a lot more for alcohol even at a Costco which is so annoying - damn!! Taxes!! But then we do have universal health coverage and more so those taxes do go to things I appreciate very much!! But yikes I wish I could pay a lot less for whisky. I do if I buy in the U.S. We can't bring much back. The price for this blend if you are getting it in the U.S. is so cheap how could you not grab a couple of bottles right?!! Cheers!! 🙂
So....I ended up buying the very large (1.75L) and not-so-expensive ($20) 'Blended Scotch Whisky' from, and by, Costco. Sipping it tonight in a Glencairn glass and I'm not sure how I'd rate it. The 20 year old me would love it as a cheap way to start off the weekend and would give it an 8/10 as it's "better than Goldschläger" (just writing that name still makes me cringe from bad, wet memories). The not-20-year old me compares it to other offerings in the same category and may not place as much weight on the price as young-me. I'm thinking smoky Islay whiskies...fruity Speyside pours. I don't 'get' much from this whisky. It says it has a peaty finish but I can't detect it. There's a lot of vanilla, a bit medicinal on the nose and that 'bite' that you get from younger products. Taking price out of the equation I'd give it a 3/10. Accounting for the price I'd give it a 6/10. Will I ever finish this mammoth 1.75 litre of a bottle? Probably. I could see myself experimenting using it in mixed drinks. Will I buy it again? No.

I agree its great for cocktails and yeah your whiskies prices are very high. I hope they come down someday. Cheers
@@WhiskeyCrusaders Thanks!
Just purchased for $17.99 at a Costco here in New Jersey. Not bad. Excellent price.
Great price and glad you enjoyed. Cheers
just bought it yesterday Sam's Club in Santa Fe, NM - it was $18.72 for the 1.75L - haven't tried it yet - glad to hear ya'all like it
Sweet what a great price. Let us know how you like it. Cheers
The Kirkland Irish Whiskey tastes like thin Jameson or Bushmills. Not sure if it’s sourced from IDL or Bushmills. It’s a decent mixer
Cool will have to review that one soon as well. Cheers
Costco here dropped the price of the bottle to $20 even.
Hard to beat.
That is awesome. Cheers
Can you get Kirkland brand in OKLAHOMA?
I don't think so. Hopefully someone from OK can tell us for sure. Cheers

No.
Great notes and reasoning. Let us know what cocktails you make with it. I do agree the age stated ones are much better. Cheers
I’ve told y’all I know the marketing director for MISA, she can’t get me any bottles for Will to wipe out
Haha this is true too. Cheers
It’s a donation that is 75% consumed already, how does that happen?
As we all know Will cannot be trusted with nice things. Cheers
I got this bad boy for 18$
What an awesome price. Cheers
