Thank you Bill and hello to Linda! Erik won Swedish Idol in 2009. He was diagnosed with leukemia in 2021, joined Skid Row in 2022. He stepped down recently to pursue health care and has developed his solo career which is fantastic! I think he is a beautiful singer! I wish him the best! He has also done collabs with both Dan Vasc and Tommy Johansson too.

The song with Dan Vasc is Erik’s own song, because it’s a H.e.a.t song “Breaking the Silence” and Erik was the front singer in H.e.a.t from 2010-2020. So for Dan is it a cover.

Never heard this singer before and I absolutely love what I am hearing. His voice is amazing, but, beyond that, you can see and feel the fact that he is living the emotion in this song. That's always a big thing with me. Technical ability is wonderful, but unless the artist feels the song and can communicate that feeling there is just that certain something missing for me.
You're absolutely right on that. Emotion makes the difference regardless of what emotion it is. Have you ever heard Ann Hathaway sing I Dreamed A Dream? It's from the film version of Les Miz. You will need a full box of tissues! Erik is amazing! I can't wait check out his collab with Tommy Johansson!

This brought on goosebumps and tears. What a magnificent voice! The original by Dolly Parton is hard to beat, but I'd say this is easily a tie with a different arrangement.

Fantastic cover by Erik. I was at first a bit disappointed when I saw he's doing a Whitney version because I always thought that Dolly's original is much more emotional. But Erik managed to bring in emotion while keeping power of Whitney's version. Stellar!

Erik was diagnosed with leukemia in 2021 and had to get a bone marrow transplant and that reset his immune system, he himself said he currently have the immune system of a 4 year old essentially, so actively touring with Skidrow took a toll on his health cause his immune system was taxed after each show and caught a lot of nasty bugs, so he decided to take health first and leave the band too prioritize his health
I'm glad he is putting his health first. That's what matters most. I'm sure he was heartbroken having to leave Skid Row but it was the right thing to do.

I discovered Erik on this journey with Dan Vasc. Dolly has always been one of my favourites and she wrote this song and was first to record it. Then Whitney made Dolly very rich❤. Erik's version I actually prefer to Whitney's( sorry) just because his voice is amazing and has some edge to it plus the power. They are just amazing 😀🇸🇪 Jona Tee was bandmate with Erik in the band Heat and also they was together in New Horizon. Jona does a lot of instruments in Eriks covers, he’s also the producer, does mix and masters.

Hey, Bill! Thank YOU, for jumping in and doing this reaction so quickly. It's such an important thing for Erik right now, as I see Jamie has already informed you (hi, Jamie!). One thing I'd add to the short and accurate comment that I see Jamie has written, is that if you go back through Erik's (wonderful) YT channel, for the last few years, you can see just looking at him, how the leukemia had such a terrible hold on him. Then, late last year, while on tour, he got hit REALLY hard by a quick, but vicious bout of strep throat. Looking at him singing THIS song, now that he's quit Skid Row, I think he's going to go really viral with his solo work like his one.
Did you notice some things that he has fairly obviously gotten from Dan Vasc? The lighting and the camerawork are VERY similar. The cameras aren't manned...they are programmed. He made good use of both things, with the black background, as well. You might want to react to the two of them doing "Breaking the Silence." Also, as Jamie mentioned, Erik has sung with Tommy, as well. A lot of us would REALLY love to hear the three of them together. That would be so HUGELY fantastic! 😀

Erik has got a bone mare transplant due to leukemia. The immune depressant medication makes him sensitive for all the virus out there. So often he was ill and could not preform when they were on tour.
So he stepped down both for his health and for the band. He felt that he could not go on tour as much as the band usually does.
Oh how I love how he sings this! So bold, strong, yet intimate.

That's nice, that one came from a fun thing called wheel of for tunes on his RUclips channel when Erik spinning the wheel twice, first genre (now Country) and after that theme (sex on the beach) then he got to write a song with that guidance , it became to be a real feel good song
