Why is so many people praising this? Did something change in boxing? Shorter fighters need to step in way more, need to close the distance at all costs, work cardio to pressure taller fighters, focus on bodyshots and build enough core to handle early punishment. Less jab dancing and more peek-a-boo boxing. No? So what changed. I'm asking because I left boxing 20 years ago and haven't been around it since.

For me it's always easier when I spar shorter opponents even if they have more experience, because there is no distance where they can reach me and I can't reach them back at the same time. And you always know, that he has to go in so you can pick defensive style, catch on attacks etc.
If you're a short guy unfortunately you have to be aggressive and attack and risk because you're outplayed by the reach already.

@@evgeniyushkov7103 I think it works more in mid- weight. My friend won a competition in such weight just because he strikes harder than tall thin guys in his weight. But in heavy+ class any blow is dangerous.
The only advantage of short guy is his speed because of short levers.
But in my experience this rarely gives an advantage against opponents with the same skill level (and their range advantage does).
