Despite her horrendous early childhood experiences she has not only survived but excelled in her determination to be a superstar. Diana was her only child after 12 failed pregnancies, you would think she would have loved her? A passing relative took Diana to an orphanage because they thought she was retarded (she cried continuously - not surprisingly!) Her new foster mum Irina worked at the orphanage and her daughter told Irina that if she didn't adopt Diana then she WOULD when she was old enough! SO Irina adopted her at 5yo. Diana could barely speak so they took her to a voice therapist who discovered Diana had a great singing voice - the rest is history. Irina and her family are immensely proud of her of course. They had to leave Arsenyev (way over in the far east of Russia) to escape Diana's horrible birth mum who would not stop being horrible to her even as a teen. They moved to Tolyatti then after Igor Krutoy gifted Diana a Moscow flat, they now live there. She is an inspiration to us all. Not only has Diana survived this evil, she has excelled and thrived. Some story eh? When I have a bad day I think of Diana's story and how lucky I am.

She won this and then the next year a special with returning winners and she won that too. Her backstory was pretty bad .. her birth mother beat her and threw her out into the street when she was 3 or 4 and she ended up in an Orphanage. She was rescued by a therapist working at the Orphanage who adopted her and gave her the love she lacked. She actually entered the Russian Voice yodeling. I have seen several voice coaches call her the youngest contralto ever. She is currently attending GITIS in Russia .. comparable to Julliard in the US. She is 17 ..turns 18 May 31.

But as for this show, I heard that children from orphanages whose fates are very deplorable perform in it. I hope that after this performance, everything has improved for Diana. Hello Drew! Love your genuine reaction. I got goosebumps the first time I heard Diana performing one of my all-time favorite songs. So glad "this generation" has a chance to hear "Wicked Games" by Rick Isaak. It is a classic and if you've never heard of the late Roy Orbison (or even Elvis!), you will hear the sound of a timeless era that was as naturally beautiful as its stories were pure of love. Kudos to guitarist Jame Calvin Wilsey as well for his hauntingly beautiful intro. ...And the set designer captured the essence and depth of the song along with the "wicked" vocals flowing out of Diana's mouth!

There are " The Voice" judges who were not smart enough to push a button or smart enough not to push it. Maybe, they were right then.

She had a very very bad childhood until she was 4 you can look up the details yourself she is 14 or 15 in this performance but she is the best Singer I have ever listen to! Everything I've ever heard her saying she makes hers and everything has been awesome so far got to love Diana

Hello Drew! Love your genuine reaction. I got goosebumps the first time I heard Diana performing one of my all-time favorite songs. So glad "this generation" has a chance to hear "Wicked Games" by Rick Isaak. It is a classic and if you've never heard of the late Roy Orbison (or even Elvis!), you will hear the sound of a timeless era that was as naturally beautiful as its stories were pure of love. Kudos to guitarist Jame Calvin Wilsey as well for his hauntingly beautiful intro. ...And the set designer captured the essence and depth of the song along with the "wicked" vocals flowing out of Diana's mouth!
