I just read where pete said nothing in the film happened without his consent and he didn't really want Oliver reed singing--- but I think olivers off-key, crappy singing works in this! This is a very UNIQUE movie. Love it!!! ;)
I saw an interview with Pete Townsend in which he said that Jack Nicholson initially had a very difficult time singing/learning the lyrics. Pete was enormously frustrated, but Nicholson eventually got it right.
in the 40 years since i 1st saw this at a midnight movie there hasnt been a year that a song or scene from this soundtrack or movie comes to mind during an event im going thru- kept hearing were not gonna take it before elections( dont want to go there again. just couldnt take all the dividing from the 8 million commercials, and corrupt politicians) I came here to be happy as did you! How many saw the who live and what years? what about the play Tomy? i saw the orig.play and was best show i ever saw.Better than phantom,,! yet, saw a year later at different venue and cast wasnt as great as the one i saw in Philadelphia in the early 2000s. saw the who live 1st in 83.Roger had his short "bulviva watch"( thats old trivia.begged jewler in early 80s sell me the 8x10 advertisment,! wish i had still) and saw them several more times.i believe once in 97 0r 98. But 83 as a teenager whos fav.band was the who- was so special❤
They were all shocked he could sing. Three years earlier Jack and AM starred in the controversial " Carnal Knowledge". Which makes the sexual tension more intense , and cheeky.
I like the way Nora sings "We'll see him tomorrow" with a mouth full of chocolate. It's similar to the Cousin Kevin and Uncle Ernie scenes where she's applying lipstick and slurring her words.
why did they leave out Tommy's largest part of this song? Listening to you, I get the music Gazing at you, I get the heat Following you, I climb the mountain I get excitement at your feet Right behind you, I see the millions On you, I see the glory From you, I get opinions From you, I get the story
In the movie when Tommy is a kid his dad dies in the song they say 51 is gonna be a good year so 1951 then. Depends on how old Tommy is depicted to be here
Imagine having a flirtatious moment like that with Ann-Margaret and then her walking away. I wouldn't be able to sleep for weeks thinking about her.
😂😅 she was definitely a beauty queen 👑
Roger daltery absolutely nailed being Tommy for this movie
He said his acting choice was not to blink.
What I don't like is it ruins the disturbing part of the original album, Tommy is meant to be only 10 or 12 at this point
@@SpartanBrigadewas he, though? Stuff wasn't really explained too well in the album. At least not to me.
@@bigdrew565 yeah he’s still a boy in Fiddle Ablut and Cousin Kevin I think he’s still a boy here to although I’m not sure
@@SpartanBrigade I'll take your word for it. Tommy was a great album, but a great screenwriter, Pete Townshend isn't. 😆
Oliver Reed, Jack Nicholson, the music of The Who - that's entertainment!
I just read where pete said nothing in the film happened without his consent and he didn't really want Oliver reed singing--- but I think olivers off-key, crappy singing works in this! This is a very UNIQUE movie. Love it!!! ;)
And Ann Margret. You can't forget her. Roger stated that it was hard trying not get a hard on around her. 😂
This film had one of the greatest casts ever.

@@artmoss6889 😂 Jack Nicholson is a legendary actor, focus on the actor word...he sure was a good looking man way back
I think Pete should have been more frustrated with Oliver Reeds voice.
The reorchestration of these songs is fantastic, Townshend really took it to another level
The film's soundtrack album is even better!
I love how A-M is in full formal wear and jewels to go to a doctor’s appointment. This movie is so sick/good.
Marvellous ❤
Not to mention the mothers fabulas appearance?
Plus Ollie sporting a top hat and monocle 🤣
I came for The Who’s music, I stayed for Jack Nicholson’s voice.
Here's Johnny!
It’s so good! He almost sounds like Bowie at some points
This movie changed my life
Nobody can be untouched by this movie an music

I’m addicted to this clip, saw the movie years ago, forgot it was this good.
I don’t see how this doesn’t have thousands of likes, this is my favorite scene in the movie!!!
Mine too
go ahead jack! knock it out the park!
They were all shocked he could sing. Three years earlier Jack and AM starred in the controversial " Carnal Knowledge". Which makes the sexual tension more intense , and cheeky.
@@jeffreywillstewartArt Garfunkel also played in that movie, maybe he gave him some singing lessons ahah
Absolutely my favorite moment of musical filmdom
It’s pretty good but it’s no phantom of the paradise
I misread that as findom 💀
Watch it last week, first time in 30 years, I now appreciate it more than originally…love it 🤓👍
❤ I can't think of anyone better for the role
Ann ❤
I love the way Ollie coughs onto the check!
Props to Reed for playing such a loathsome boor. He was so good in this part lol
THAT'S Jack singing? His voice and accent sound so different here.
Absolutely great!
Haha I never realized the doctor’s name was “A Quackson” LOL
I just realized the ridiculousness of Frank putting a dead animal on the nightstand.
The Wall or Tommy? Can't say. Absolute perfection, both.
I like the way Nora sings "We'll see him tomorrow" with a mouth full of chocolate. It's similar to the Cousin Kevin and Uncle Ernie scenes where she's applying lipstick and slurring her words.
Ann margaret ..what a beautiful woman
she is one amazing singer.
I was shocked when I found out that Jack actually sang in this movie.
Did he?!
yes @@erinmalone2669

@ 1:33, the red lead is on Tommy's right eye and black on the left, but @ 2:33 they are reversed 🙂
$250 copay in 1961 or whatever year this takes place?
In the movie when Tommy is a kid his dad dies in the song they say 51 is gonna be a good year so 1951 then. Depends on how old Tommy is depicted to be here
Well spotted! The check is dated 3 May [19]70. Maybe he's a private doctor? Also, it seems to be made out to "A Quackson" 😀
A bargain at today’s prices 😂
Jack Nicholson was only 37 here, Ann Margaret was only 32 or 33. Now I'm old and they are still old.
whats happening in his head
May I just jumping
Oliver Reed starts the scene with a shotgun in one hand and a dead duck in the other. I assume he met the doctor while duck hunting.
The guy from The Shining is the doctor. Beware there may be treachery afoot! (Jack can sing??)
Jack Nicholson can sing!
What a bastardized piss take on the best song in the album
I'll give you that one but they are all so beautiful.
@@jeffreywillstewart the sequence for Tommy's Summer Camp is actually good, better even than what I pictured in my mind
With all due respect to the album version, but Jack and Ann made this song even better
Highly disagree both versions rock
Yeah there's no bad version of this song
Man this version sucks
This is simply the best version
God, this film was so horrid. I did like two of Russell's films, "Lair of the White Worm" and "Gothic," but...yow this sucked.
"Dr. A Quackson" on the check... Sometimes it's the little things that matter...
