Man I couldn't tell you how excited I was to see this aircraft pop up on Flightradar24! Champaign hasn't seen an MD-80 in over three years, the last time we got one was when World Atlantic sent one in late 2017 or 2018. This MD-83 brought back the University of Illinois Women's Basketball Team after a series of games in Daytona Beach, Florida. The flight landed right towards the end of sunset. I've never been this close to an MD-80 while planespotting and WOW was it an experience. These birds are very loud, you literally could not hear yourself think as this jet was pulling in. I was so glad to have been able to capture this bird arrive and depart as the chances of catching Super 80's is sadly getting smaller and smaller around the world.
Enjoy the sights and sounds of this classic jetliner as she puts on a show with some cool maneuvers on landing, followed by some screaming JT8D action as she arrives, then followed by a loud engine start and takeoff!!

Wow great catch mate! Wonderful video! come to think of it the McDonnell Douglas 83 and 82 looks a lot like the Boeing 717.
That's because the 717 is based from McDonnell Douglas. But much shorter than the MD-87.

What really amazes me here is not the actual aircraft movements but the fact that you're at the fenceline--what with that run-in with the police some months ago, would think you'd be looking nervously over your shoulder this time! My last MD-88 flight with DL was in Dec '14 and am saddened that they and AA chose to rid themselves of a great performing airplane---on a totally unrelated note,Airways magazine says that UE has had to ground over 100 jets due to a pilot shortage and as of Jan 3rd, UE is dropping service to a fair number of small airports.

Are will around MD88 as flying around world?
I never enjoyed flying in this aircraft due to the engine noise inside the cabin. So glad Delta is retiring this aircraft along with the MD90’s replacing them with A220 which in my opinion is much better aircraft.
That's a common complaint with this jet. Delta already retired them, they have the 717's left.
