I remember when people were arguing with me, a once AUT tester, about how YBA would instantly die once aut dropped, not realising just how buggy it was and going off on 2 sneak peaks.
True, YBA has his bugs and all, but AUT just survived 2-3 days, in the hallowen update they died faster than I thought, from 40k to 20k, they did good and bad decisions, but the game is still good
@@Elpapurandomxd123 yeah, horrible desicions like adding yasuo and yone. i think that's waht caused people to quit aut, since they're extremely overpowered. the devs did a poll on if they were balanced, expecting truth, but most of aut's playerbase being people that want to abuse extremely overpowered specs to in obviously said yes. Yasuo and yone both have a true 70% combo, which led me to quit. It would be fine if it took some skill like mih's combos, but they don't since the moves have huge hitboxes and stun. in my opinion, the combat of the game needs to be reworked, they don't need to make new combat, but at least adding s after having used a move that should not combo extend. i think it's quite evident that the 70% combos are bugs, since they involve attacking after using moves that deal knockback.

I honestly prefer YBA’s combat and pvp system, I love the “build your own playstyle” type of gameplay from YBA, the fact that any stand can be good is refreshing. YBA’s pvp system also feels more rewarding, as fights last way longer, however the largest downside is that when something is unbalanced, its much more noticeable and annoying
Yba is good other than how you get those things i just wish there was a samdbox mode of where people can try make the best build possible because a lot of builds i have to come up in my head but only one didnt work and that was jaw breaker into inhale on star plat but any other ragdoll still works and i still have sp boxing on an alt

I think the customisability is one of the reasons I play YBA more than AUT too. I agree with you when you mention things like skill trees, although my favourite feature of YBA is specs, since they add an extra layer to every single build and can potentially transform the way you play a stand if you're using a certain spec. The problem is that AUT doesn't have this kind of system and it never could; once you've seen an ability you've seen all it has to offer. The replay value of YBA is just higher because of the amount of possibilities for builds which is why I keep coming back to YBA and why I think it's the more played game.

@@dominicballinger6536 It's quite good for me, they added presents that spawn on map with 0.5% chances but the time idk and from comp sbr you can get present with 10-20%, from 1v1s its 4% from 2v2s 1% but from presents you can get limited specs and cosmetics and they added shinies they look good tho
A universal move in fighting games I don't see most of the time are combo breakers/reflectors. Basically they're used in stun to launch the enemy back, stunning both you and the enemy, resetting the gameplay back to neutral. Maybe AUT can link this combo breaker universal move to the block stamina, because I think it would be super good for the stupid infinite combos in AUT.
or maybe a sparking system like dragon ball fighterZ, when you activate sparking you will knockback and stun the enemy, your regen is increased, you have a slight buff on all attacks, stun decreased slightly, duration is only 10 seconds, and sparking wont be available until you die to a person. In 1v1's it'll be different, sparking buffs is still the same, the things that are changed is that when you use sparking and you die to a person in 1v1's you won't get another sparking for the whole match, sparking will build up each time you die if you're not using it, ex: when you first die, sparking will glow orange and when you die to your last life your sparking will glow red, what that means is that the sparking buffs will be increased whenever it changes colour. thats my suggestion for AUT and send feedback if you think there is something is unbalanced.
This. A lot of people miss the fact that the reason why actual fighting games are playable is because they have defensive options so getting hit by a jab does not spell game over. Good examples include Mortal Kombat breakaways(and the game’s many other defensive options), JoJo EOH combo breaker, and DBFZ sparking(as Kozo mentioned)

While I think both games are fine, I feel one of AUT's biggest issues is lack of testing. The rate at which we get AUT updates are nice in comparison to YBA, but the amount of bugs/balancing issues present with each new update is just disheartening and could 100% be improved with more in depth testing of new content. YBA doesnt suffer from this issue in the same way AUT does. YBA's lack of updates, and more specifically, content updates means that there arent many new bugs present to the game. YBA does however fail in the fact that the bugs that do exist often times go unfixed for months, and many of them are detrimental to certain stands (i.e Knives). At the end of the day though I really cant say which is better than the other, and thats mostly down to personal preference.
One thing i have to say is that if the new aut came out the same time as yba/had the same time as yba to make updates and all that, it would be really good, with the speed they do things

Honestly why more people play YBA: It just appeals more to the casual audience while also having a decent complexity for more competitive players. Everyone knows that most people casually play games and not taking everything too seriously. But there are also players who enjoy playing games more seriously and investing time into finding the optimal battle strategy. Funnily enough, the customisation is what makes it fun as well. It allows Casual Players to use whatever they want and it will mostly work while more competitive players can find the ultimate combination of spec and Stand power (Boxing go brrr).
I agree but I feel as if yba just as a really nice community and overall more enjoyable public servers, people are always in one area socializing (near the arcade) and aut is usually just a whole mess with it’s laggy map and boring and crappy rkers.
@Suus can't say much about aut because I haven't played it in a long time but he's basically spot on with yba minus servers with a group of toxic players, and the occasional rking because it's either grind fight or idle in main game And also the server wars that start after a group of people teamed on others too much and now there's more than 4 people that want to see them crumble In aut I'm guessing people just go around attacking others because of quests that require kills or dmg
Personally, I think AUT is a really good game with great animations and models, but it's the lack of content that really dries the playtime fast. I originally first joined YBA because I heard about the storyline aspect of it and that was really interesting at the time, but once you beat the storyline 4 times, get TWOH and MIH, and get max prestige, it's time to move on. I agree with what you said about YBA's content + AUT's animations and models could make a really REALLY good and entertaining game to play on the daily. The problem is that in every attempt to make a jojo game better than YBA or even atleast AUT, it fails miserably because of multiple reasons. 1; theres is literally no more unused names for jojo games. Every jojo game says something related to 'bizarre' 'adventure' 'jojo(s)' 'crusader(s)' 'star' 'infinite' 'day' and the list goes on. 2; content gets so dry with these games that people play them, completely max out everything in the span of a week or two and they return to AUT or YBA. Lastly, the playerbase/community is what really controls these games. I guarentee that if literally every single YBA/AUT player complained to the devs that the game is dry and they will quit if no updates are dropped, the devs (if they actually care about their game) will probably work on an update. That's basically it, I don't really play YBA or AUT anymore so yeah that's all.
I feel the difference in YBA and AUT is like Smash Bros. Melee and Ultimate, one is semi competitive and less glitchy, and The other is SUPER buggy but very competitive
That’s why I like yba more then aut. The grinding is hard and long and takes days. I am a hard grinder gamer so I love it when I grind for days just to get one thing, whilst for aut it has less grinding and isn: as hard. You just complete what’s on your screen and that’s it.
To be honest, the only reason that i still play YBA was because of the memories made in the game. Memories of doing sbr with gang members, winning 1v1s, doing 2v2s with other people. Gang wars, farming for a stand and getting hyped when you got the stand that you desired. I played YBA since 2020 and have thought of quitting the game because of the toxicity, exploiters, the ridiculous ammount of farming i have to do, and lack of updates. I have tried not playing YBA again but i just kept on coming back. Even if my gang disbanded, me becoming gangless, without anyone to play yba with, alone, no one to help you fight. In the end, i kept on coming back. It isn't obsession or anything, it's just how much of a thrill YBA has. AUT has the large variery of stands, specs, and movesets sure. Project star had the wits to compete against YBA if only they had more devs and all. TB2 has the varierity of characters, and the special moves the characters have. But they lack updates to keep the hype up. And my conclusion to this is, YBA is almost a masterpiece. And it is hard to stop playing after the things you've experienced in the game. First time getting a rare stand, first time winning sbr, first time winning 1v1s and so on. Sure it has its downsides like exploiters and the group of toxic players there. But after all, why should we stop playing it?
Since AUT released I had a kinda bad feeling about it. My friends started playing, begging me to try it. Eventually I did, and I had fun for a few weeks. Got most of the stands ingame and it just got boring, so I switched permanently to YBA. I really think that AUT's problem is that it focuses too much on PvP and PvE, and not really on the actual main game.
One of the most important mechanics in fighting games is a recovery mechanic. Dragon Ball Xenoverse has a mechanic called vanishing, where as long as you have stamina (which hardly regens), you can vanish out of hitstun. If you break someone's stamina, you just get to beat on them. In YBA, this mechanic is Stand barrage typically, with a few exeptions (Six Pistol's Improved Dashes). If someone overuses their defensive mechanic, they get hard punished (DBX has stamina break, Stand Barrage deals huge damage, and can only be stopped by another Stand Barrage or something of the sort.) In AUT, if you fail to block or dodge, you get beaten on...and if you don't get some sort of frame perfect dodge, sometimes the combo even gets looped...no one likes that.
There’s an amazing game called “World Of Stands” It’s currently shut down (although it was openly tested a few days ago) It has: A storyline A level system AMAZING CUTSCENES No jacksh*t Arrow percentage Skins aren’t ridiculously rare Things that AUT could do to literally easily obliterate YBA’s player count: Dungeons and more gamemodes Events and a storyline Exclusive stands and specs for the storyline Multiple storylines (each part) OR a linked massive storyline

As a YBA main, when I started playing AUT I was really confused at how easy the combo making was. I mean using YBA hard combo tactics that do a tiny amount of damage absolutely shreds peoples hp in AUT. I was disappointed in the stun on the M1s and got bored of it really quick
M1s doing stuns is literally the nor of any pvp game. I personally think YBA have no stun on m1s is horrible, the only reason Uzu even removed stun from m1s is cus man was too lazy to balance dmg and moves. Also YBA combos aren't rly hard, it's literally just use moves while in AUT it's, use moves + m1. But hey, that's just my opinion, you enjoy what you enjoy.

Eclipse puts up some rather great points, but simplified, yba has progression that is rewarding, and no matter which stand you have, you can kill another, its gonna take usage of your brain to really think, "Is it worth getting this skill?" in yba the combat system is just so harshly diverse! Meanwhile aut is just a copy paste of the average jojo game but "better" just because of its graphics?

90% of AUT fans just went by the logic "Good graphics/Good vfx = Good game!" When looking at the sneakpeeks before the game was even out, proceeding to claim it was the "YBA Killer." The game then dropped, was buggy and unbalanced as shit and well YBA just sort of sat there unscathed.

This is true. The farming system in YBA sucks. I was literally for an hour in my priv and couldn't find a single Rokakaka. I even invited my friend who had item grind hacks and as it turned out, the server had no rokas.😐 Oh, and by the way, Eclipse can you add chapters to your movies? It would be helpful (at least for me)
new aut messed up hard by basically deleting most of what the game was, get a stand then go on a journey (normally either killing a boss, trading and waiting for it to spawn) and then using the stand. its like how stw was something that took time to get but now its just a chance from a normal arrow

I like YBA for the diversity in builds. Like sure there's the meta, but then there's obscure stuff that's busted together that nobody plays or knows how to fight against. In AUT the stand you get is the stand you get and that's it.
Yba is way more developed than aut but since yba has been having a big lack of updates and new content, a lot of players would rather play aut which is a game that regularly gets updated. I still think yba is the best roblox jojo game tho
The reason I play YBA more nowadays is that AUT isn't as wacky and fun as it used to be. Most of the moves I liked didn't even get a balance or nerf, just a straight removal or replaced with something completely different that what they once were. I liked the fact that some stands had a stronger stand jump than others, and that nearly every stand or spec had a traversal move. I dislike the fact that most "rare" or hard to get stands were revoked from every player that obtained the original just to be replaced with a better looking, worse functioning version of what it once was.
I feel like a great way the yba developers could become less bored of developing strictly jojo stuff is creating uncanon jojo things more stuff like kcr
YBA is winning because its JJBA, its based on one thing instead of 60 different topics. YBA also has less lag, and is genuinely sometimes more enjoyable. AUT has better stand attacks and animations, but is too leggy, and you can't even play AUT on mobile due to the fact that that the new map is too massive and leggy along with the graphics.
The only laggy thing in YBA they need to fix is the fact that killer queens explosions lag the hell out of mobile and crappy pc users (Including myself).

YBA's combat system has three categories: You stomp the opponent, it's a long, drawn-out fight of equal skill and you both sneak picks at each other, but no significant damage is made, or you get completely stomped. There is nothing but that.
whenever i play aut i feel like im playing some alpha game that needs 2 more years of work put into it for it to be functional and yba feels like it only need 6 months more of work to be functional
Playing with stands on aut feels real basic compared to yba, like the lack of customisation (picking whether you want a move or not and being able to change your keybinds), another thing I like alot is specs cause depending on the spec you pick it can change ur playstyle. Also in my opinion stands feel better in yba. (Mb for waffling)
if I could wish ONE thing about this I would wish that AUT and YBA would set aside their differences and work together to make the best Jojo and others game ever. all they have to do is see who does something better that way the better person can work on it. BIG BRAIN!

Man I always log in to yba to just have a fun FFA with random players, sometimes getting ganged , getting others ganged , find new friends, be toxic , not be toxic. U get the idea, yba is probably not dead cause of this, it's the only reason why it's not boring.
i feel like if aut added social elements, such as dungeons mentioned in the polls, 2v2s, gangs, sbr, etc. it'll have a massive boost in their playercount, and if they make the main game map actually playable on low-end edit: yes i know stuff like dungeons & sbr were polls, and had positive results, and that 2v2s are basically confirmed, and that the map is confirmed too, but i was just commenting how it'd MASSIVELY help
Definitely agree. Updates are frequent but all they add that really contributes to gameplay is a new ability. People then try to get this ability and play with it a little bit and then what?
I'm pretty sure they said on the discord server that once they're done with making the map optimised they're gonna focus on the story in some way (they didn't specify it was a quest line or dungeons)

Imo the problem is lack of content relating to jojo references. There are more specs than actual jojo related stands Many people dont even care bout specs,half the community dosent even know where it's from. If they add actual stands there is a chance people might look back. Another thing is the map.....(you know) It's just better to make a simple map that isn't huge nor small. Last and final fault imo is the grinding method and the npcs Bosses are way to strong and ignore stun,npcs can m1 in middle of a barrage (sometimes)and the grinding method is just so bad If they fix these faults they can regularly update the game with small updates and get the same mediocre fanbase each time.
actually that makes it more apealing to more players not to only jojo fans more fans the map thing is true but its not about the uncanon stands its more so about the amount of times the updates are worse then the last
AUT is less enjoyable than YBA for me, AUT has alot of abilities but once you get the good ones it kind of loses it's replayability value, it has cool animations, but that doesnt overshadow the combat which is pretty bad if you ask me , most abilities overshadow others alot (like how broly overshadows almost every stand ability) and I think that comes down to lack of proper testing, most if not all attacks have so much stun for no reason at all ( which makes it impossible to escape combos), and the grind is pretty alright (like grinding for shinies), but it can get really bad (like grinding for abilities like tusk) . YBA on the otherhand has alot of replayability, and that comes to the spec + stand combinations you can make in the game (for example anubis + pluck), the animations are good but not as good at AUT's, the combat is alot better (considering that you can parry moves, and actually cancel combos that aren't true, unlike aut where you can't escape combos unless you have a broken spec like broly which gets stun for no reason at all) and the grind is more bearable, but it can get boring at times ( like trying to grind for a skins ).

No worries, you can research for builds or standspec combinations that tend to look strong, fun or viable, heck the game has about a total of 38 stands, there are 5 specs and one specless 38 stands x 5 specs = 190 stand comhinations 190-220 stands and specs when combined (220 if we included basic specless stands on their own) This just tells me how wide your choose pool is with YBA if you want to use something else
My YBA playtime is definitely up there because of the shiny grinding, and it's understandable that it's dumb to shiny farm. But honestly, shiny farming is an excuse for me as someone who's done almost everything I can in the game to keep on playing sbr, to have fun times and etc with my friends. Even if it's a lot of wasted time, lmao.
If no one remembers, there was a game called Stand Upwrite, and it had skill trees and unique atributes for their stands, the game was also provided with levels, dungeons, along with depth of development. Stand upwrite was very successful due to the fact that your attribute determined your winning or losing. Most people would think that this is a bad thing, but with these unfair power scales, the game shifts from just fighting mindlessly to a more rpg-like and social game. People would log on to chat with friends and do missions, so the thing AUT should be aiming for is something that includes more RPG ASPECTS and a way to make the game more SOCIAL. Roblox players love social games, and some of the top games are games where you basically just chat with a few twists. This, along with stands and abilities could make for a great game that could 100% beat YBA.
I remember playing Stand Upright and it was pretty similar to YBA, but in a different manner. The one thing I didn’t like about the game was the fact that there was the characteristic factor when getting a stand (ex: Divine, Permistic, Brave). Sure, you could get the stand you wanted, but chances are that it’s much weaker than the same stand, but with the rarer characteristic. This made the game a bit unbalanced as this meant that only players that have the same kind of characteristic could only compete with each other, leaving weaker players out of the question to even fight them as they’d get RK’d for who knows how long. Other than that, I enjoyed the game and had a great time with it.
Agreed, stand upright is really fun once you get a very good attribute of a stand, its like dragonball with the powerscaling and stuff but in a jojo game
I knew yba wouldn’t lose it’s just that a part of me hope it would lose a lot of people playing so the devs pay more attention to the game and have more updates but yba always has 20k and more players in the game no matter what time it is
I think the sad fact of the matter is here is what we're left with. We have a good game with a developer who is resting on his laurels knowing full well there are problems and money will keep flowing even if he doesnt fix them, moderators and staff who treat their community like shit and cant manage at all. Then we have a pretty mediocre jojo game with developers who give a shit (albiet have a bad track record if the stolen asset fiasco is anything to go by), actually want to improve the game, and know that money will only keep flowing if they continue to improve. It honestly feels like the only way yba is gonna get any proper improvement is if a new developer picks it up and actually starts trying because uzu obviously doesnt feel the need to. (which he is a kid and is in school so its not like he doesnt have real life responsibilities, all the more reason to get another developer to handle more consistent updates)
Personally I disagree on AUT being mediocre. It's certainly better than a lot of other Jojo games out there, and the combat is pretty alright. Bugs are fixed pretty consistently, so I wouldn't personally call the game mediocre. That said, I do agree. Even if AUT was mediocre, I'd take it any day over a good game with a bad community and lazy devs. While most people say you should separate the art from the artist, in the case of the developers, knowing the passion they feel (or lack thereof) really makes a difference on the gaming experience.
In yba, you can get so creative with the builds and do what you want, so with specless included, every new stand is multiplied by 6, not to mention skill trees. And, if you experiment with it, you can find a brand new build that's super powerful, and have fun with it. This is proven by my experience with top players. I've fought 3 top players in total, and 2 of them had creative builds that I never even thought of and combo in amazing ways. One had cmoon pluck, and the other had Hermit pluck, and while those sound like ba dideas on paper, they made amazing combos that work incredibly well. That's why yba has more players, the freedom of being able to be creative with your build is what makes yba so cool. P.s. the cmoon pluck user used that cause he could pilot right after crescent slash and confirm uppercut, creating an infinite, and the pluck Hermit would use grapple and use pierce strike while grappling to confirm vine trap. If that isn't proof you can experiment with builds what is?
We currently have 38 solo stands and 5 specs in YBA, they can also be combined uniquely depending on your choices or how you want a meta or casual spec + stand combination Also, you can make up to 190 stand+spec combinations in total (if we include the basic no-spec-non-combined stand like they're just their own, then we'd have like 228 stands in total) while also being able to shift and adjust/modify your build and how you want to make the combination work, which moves you want to sacrifice to make one better, YBA has a HUGE field of what you want to use specifically than just one solo stand like most jojo games
One of my biggest issues is that YBA actually gives you a reason to get hard to get stands like TWOH because they’re actually strong, but in aut all the end tier stands either suck a lot or are stupidly overpowered while pretty much every arrow and easy to get stand is busted
If I’m correct, I believe a while ago AUT was considering a storymode or something similar to YBA so that there was something to do. I think they added this skin system and what not to being a way to be rewarded for completing story quests

I loved YBA until I played AUT, and then I didn't touch YBA for at least a month, but my issue is one mentioned in the video. I don't have an interest in the "rare" stands that take grinding to do, besides mabye 2 of them. Once I got all the stands/specs I wanted in AUT, and exhausted using them all, I had no need to go back. But I have since then played another alt account on YBA to max prestige again, just to have new builds. The longevity of customisation and prestiges definitely beats the longevity in getting the 6 stands you want and calling it a day.
This is a really interesting analysis, and I think that both games have hurt their player count in different ways. AUT's main thing was the new universe update that made things reasonable to get as opposed to the old universe that was winning over YBA because you had to sit in a private server for hours and hours on end to get the things you want like it pretty much is with skins in YBA. YBA's main thing (my opinion, after the update hype dies down) is gonna be the addition of trading given that if someone was grinding for star platinum and they got whitesnake 3 times, they wouldn't have to lose faith in the RNG gods and roka it since they can now just go and trade it for the other stand they wanted as opposed to how things worked before christmas.
My thoughts exactly. AUT's "New Universe" update kinda broke the game in multiple ways, and instead of rewarding grinding and patience, you could go get Star Platinum and suddenly you can fight any stand with a bit of practice. YBA, while VERY similar to this *cough* Aeroshit *cough,* still rewards the committed and the determined who want to get stands like Made in Heaven and The World: Over Heaven, which take a long time to get (excluding trading for them).
For me it might because of the whole "new universe" thing, the upgraid is great, but after the new universe came out most of the the stand/character that we farm for have been erase, even tho its ok for those who's new but it totally not for me
All of the things the made the game fun like Casey, Zenith, Hermit purple and the meme stands like Made in Walmart, Sprite Cranberry, etc. All those things together made the game fun and they ripped it away from us by turning the game heavily based on pvp with most stands being broken, pvp, the whole thing they're going for, isnt fun (LIKE NOCTURNUS DOES INF STUN BECAUSE OF BLEED AND DOES A RIDICULUES AMOUNT OF DAMAGE, or how p//s hasn't gotten a single update but we've had 4 new specs and skins for p//s) Moral of the story, they turned aut into something the community didnt want, pve into pvp. RIP 90% of the stands that made the game fun
with the "jojo hurts yba" thing, instead of maybe adding canon stands with their canon movesets, they could add less popular canon stands with unique movesets like they did with anubis, or more requiem stands so that they'll have more freedom, the only problem with this is that it takes time to implement, which the yba devs hate.
another great part of the skill tree is it allows relatively bad stands to become really good when you unlock specific skills, like likes look at it like this, beach boy can go from borderline useless to a beast if you practice with him and unlock points to use on him. This is amplified with specs and character upgrades and all
I prefer yba for the combat system, the movements system, sbr, cosmetics (i know it sounds stupid but it's another reason to play sbr for example) the customisation of your moves, the storyline and the well made npcs. I played a lot of aut when it came out but after grinding some stands i obviously lost interest. And that's a shame because yba has problems that hardly ruin the game (cheaters, bugs, toxic people) and devs aren't even thinking to do something. If yba had the actual aut devs it would be the perfect jojo game.
My opinion on why most people (including me) choose to play YBA and not AUT -The combat sytem of YBA is really good. You dont get punished for other people landing m1s on you -More stand options -More customizations. For example using X stand with X Specs -Trying to find really good combos with different specs and stands -Teams gamemode, Solo game modes - Hard Challenges like getting corpse parts - Trying to wipe sbr servers with X Stand and specs - Team wiping people with friends - A storyline that you have to finish - Forming teams in main game to eliminate the server -Skin system (even tho its bad cuz its based on luckiness, people still like it cause they can flex their stand skins) -Even tho it updates years later the updates are HUGE. (these are my opinions, you are allowed to have ur own so please dont argue)
@@glacialblast2588 the problem with auts shinies is that they're so easy to get they almost have no value, as they're basically all worth the same. This is a huge double edged sword as there's no longer a trading economy and really no reason to collect shinies since they're mostly worth the same, also the purpose of shinies is to be rare. Auts shinies are not rare at all, it's not impressive to have a shiny in aut, they're just skins you buy.

While yes aut has had so many bugs and just plain unbalanced stands, they fix them as fast as they can and seeing that yba is basically muuuucchhhh older i think it's meh to critique aut on it. I would love to see how aut would look like if it had as much time as yba
I think it really just boils down to YBA being like a Triple A game, while AUT is more like an indie game. One tries to appeal to the people while the other tries to get the most out of their audience. One is objectively better in some regards, but the other is made to make a profit and they succeed.

Ima be honest with you guys, the reason why yba is so good or lasting right now, because it has more content or things to do than aut, like grinding levels, making builds with specs, fighting people, all this has it going for yba, aut has none of this besides fighting people and even then its not that much fun because yba keeps it random, as in you can see a the hand pluck and it somehow works, its the randomness that yba has that you dont know what you are to expect next, maybe some stands like twoh are presictable because they always run boxing because hamon or pluck doesnt work to well with twoh. But my point still stands, aut does have its good stuff, like graphics specs/stands, good effects, new ways to grind, decent ish bossfights(tho need to work better because they have no stun) and bigger map, but it lacks any early content besides auto grinding stands like stories or level grinding or skill tree making,( i love skill trees and yba nailed it with not being able to unlock everything) as well as every stand is almost different on how there moves work, what yba doesnt have going for it is animation which is lame, every single rage/awakening uses the same animation, and rage bars yell the same RAAAAA, atleast they got voicelines back, anyways, i feel like they both have there ups and down but yba has more going for it
True, main problem would be even if you get 200+ ping, you'd struggle and your stand delays every move, but if you do have below 200 you're gonna have some fun

I playing yba now too because it has more stands than aut and aut just has the same moves like you doing the same things but on the yba there is hamon,boxing,pluck,spin 2v2 gamemode and sbr gamemode the combat of yba is good too and it has a skill tree
Honestly, even know AUT has “unique” stands, they kinda feel like carbon copies of each other. They either do something like TS, Have generally SP or TW strength or just are a LITERAL copy of SP or TW with just an edgy design. I think YBA is a lot more fun because the abilities are actually different from each other- and although there is cheese stands, there’s a much less drastic difference between what’s trash and what’s good, It’s the opposite for AUT. I feel even if a stand is trash in YBA you can still make the most of it, and if you’re skilled, slap top tier stands.

I would say either reduce the stun time in aut or add a new mechanic where you can only string a combo for sometime before the opponent is flung away. Also add some way to counter stuns or avoid it like increase s in dodges or have some moves that can be used while stunned but they go on cooldown for a longer time
Simple. Aut is a mainly fighting game that appeals to competitive players, and it’s hard to learn. And yba is also a fighting game, but it also focuses on other things. Yba has good socializing, good fighting mechanics, and it’s sort of addicting. Aut just has more cons. But still, yba has its downs, I feel like it’s just the fact that it brings in more players and add that factor onto it’s good factors, is your answer.
To me, it's just because AUT’s combat feels so floaty, and clunky. Attacks while having stun, have little to no oomph and combat is such a slog. You described it perfectly, it feels like footsies. To me it's even less satisfying than games like A A with similar combat mechanics because at least the combat there is more responsive and "felt".
I remember when people were arguing with me, a once AUT tester, about how YBA would instantly die once aut dropped, not realising just how buggy it was and going off on 2 sneak peaks.
True, YBA has his bugs and all, but AUT just survived 2-3 days, in the hallowen update they died faster than I thought, from 40k to 20k, they did good and bad decisions, but the game is still good

@@Elpapurandomxd123 yeah, horrible desicions like adding yasuo and yone. i think that's waht caused people to quit aut, since they're extremely overpowered. the devs did a poll on if they were balanced, expecting truth, but most of aut's playerbase being people that want to abuse extremely overpowered specs to in obviously said yes. Yasuo and yone both have a true 70% combo, which led me to quit. It would be fine if it took some skill like mih's combos, but they don't since the moves have huge hitboxes and stun. in my opinion, the combat of the game needs to be reworked, they don't need to make new combat, but at least adding s after having used a move that should not combo extend. i think it's quite evident that the 70% combos are bugs, since they involve attacking after using moves that deal knockback.

I honestly prefer YBA’s combat and pvp system, I love the “build your own playstyle” type of gameplay from YBA, the fact that any stand can be good is refreshing. YBA’s pvp system also feels more rewarding, as fights last way longer, however the largest downside is that when something is unbalanced, its much more noticeable and annoying

I think the customisability is one of the reasons I play YBA more than AUT too. I agree with you when you mention things like skill trees, although my favourite feature of YBA is specs, since they add an extra layer to every single build and can potentially transform the way you play a stand if you're using a certain spec. The problem is that AUT doesn't have this kind of system and it never could; once you've seen an ability you've seen all it has to offer. The replay value of YBA is just higher because of the amount of possibilities for builds which is why I keep coming back to YBA and why I think it's the more played game.

A universal move in fighting games I don't see most of the time are combo breakers/reflectors. Basically they're used in stun to launch the enemy back, stunning both you and the enemy, resetting the gameplay back to neutral. Maybe AUT can link this combo breaker universal move to the block stamina, because I think it would be super good for the stupid infinite combos in AUT.
or maybe a sparking system like dragon ball fighterZ, when you activate sparking you will knockback and stun the enemy, your regen is increased, you have a slight buff on all attacks, stun decreased slightly, duration is only 10 seconds, and sparking wont be available until you die to a person.
In 1v1's it'll be different, sparking buffs is still the same, the things that are changed is that when you use sparking and you die to a person in 1v1's you won't get another sparking for the whole match, sparking will build up each time you die if you're not using it, ex: when you first die, sparking will glow orange and when you die to your last life your sparking will glow red, what that means is that the sparking buffs will be increased whenever it changes colour.
thats my suggestion for AUT and send feedback if you think there is something is unbalanced.
This. A lot of people miss the fact that the reason why actual fighting games are playable is because they have defensive options so getting hit by a jab does not spell game over. Good examples include Mortal Kombat breakaways(and the game’s many other defensive options), JoJo EOH combo breaker, and DBFZ sparking(as Kozo mentioned)

While I think both games are fine, I feel one of AUT's biggest issues is lack of testing. The rate at which we get AUT updates are nice in comparison to YBA, but the amount of bugs/balancing issues present with each new update is just disheartening and could 100% be improved with more in depth testing of new content. YBA doesnt suffer from this issue in the same way AUT does. YBA's lack of updates, and more specifically, content updates means that there arent many new bugs present to the game. YBA does however fail in the fact that the bugs that do exist often times go unfixed for months, and many of them are detrimental to certain stands (i.e Knives). At the end of the day though I really cant say which is better than the other, and thats mostly down to personal preference.
One thing i have to say is that if the new aut came out the same time as yba/had the same time as yba to make updates and all that, it would be really good, with the speed they do things
Keep in mind, AUT is the game that came out with the Halloween Update around Thanks Giving time and still does updates quicker than YBA lmfao

Honestly why more people play YBA: It just appeals more to the casual audience while also having a decent complexity for more competitive players. Everyone knows that most people casually play games and not taking everything too seriously. But there are also players who enjoy playing games more seriously and investing time into finding the optimal battle strategy.
Funnily enough, the customisation is what makes it fun as well. It allows Casual Players to use whatever they want and it will mostly work while more competitive players can find the ultimate combination of spec and Stand power (Boxing go brrr).
I agree but I feel as if yba just as a really nice community and overall more enjoyable public servers, people are always in one area socializing (near the arcade) and aut is usually just a whole mess with it’s laggy map and boring and crappy rkers.

Personally, I think AUT is a really good game with great animations and models, but it's the lack of content that really dries the playtime fast. I originally first joined YBA because I heard about the storyline aspect of it and that was really interesting at the time, but once you beat the storyline 4 times, get TWOH and MIH, and get max prestige, it's time to move on. I agree with what you said about YBA's content + AUT's animations and models could make a really REALLY good and entertaining game to play on the daily. The problem is that in every attempt to make a jojo game better than YBA or even atleast AUT, it fails miserably because of multiple reasons. 1; theres is literally no more unused names for jojo games. Every jojo game says something related to 'bizarre' 'adventure' 'jojo(s)' 'crusader(s)' 'star' 'infinite' 'day' and the list goes on. 2; content gets so dry with these games that people play them, completely max out everything in the span of a week or two and they return to AUT or YBA. Lastly, the playerbase/community is what really controls these games. I guarentee that if literally every single YBA/AUT player complained to the devs that the game is dry and they will quit if no updates are dropped, the devs (if they actually care about their game) will probably work on an update. That's basically it, I don't really play YBA or AUT anymore so yeah that's all.

That’s why I like yba more then aut. The grinding is hard and long and takes days. I am a hard grinder gamer so I love it when I grind for days just to get one thing, whilst for aut it has less grinding and isn: as hard. You just complete what’s on your screen and that’s it.

To be honest, the only reason that i still play YBA was because of the memories made in the game. Memories of doing sbr with gang members, winning 1v1s, doing 2v2s with other people. Gang wars, farming for a stand and getting hyped when you got the stand that you desired. I played YBA since 2020 and have thought of quitting the game because of the toxicity, exploiters, the ridiculous ammount of farming i have to do, and lack of updates. I have tried not playing YBA again but i just kept on coming back. Even if my gang disbanded, me becoming gangless, without anyone to play yba with, alone, no one to help you fight. In the end, i kept on coming back. It isn't obsession or anything, it's just how much of a thrill YBA has. AUT has the large variery of stands, specs, and movesets sure. Project star had the wits to compete against YBA if only they had more devs and all. TB2 has the varierity of characters, and the special moves the characters have. But they lack updates to keep the hype up. And my conclusion to this is, YBA is almost a masterpiece. And it is hard to stop playing after the things you've experienced in the game. First time getting a rare stand, first time winning sbr, first time winning 1v1s and so on. Sure it has its downsides like exploiters and the group of toxic players there. But after all, why should we stop playing it?

Since AUT released I had a kinda bad feeling about it. My friends started playing, begging me to try it. Eventually I did, and I had fun for a few weeks. Got most of the stands ingame and it just got boring, so I switched permanently to YBA. I really think that AUT's problem is that it focuses too much on PvP and PvE, and not really on the actual main game.

One of the most important mechanics in fighting games is a recovery mechanic.
Dragon Ball Xenoverse has a mechanic called vanishing, where as long as you have stamina (which hardly regens), you can vanish out of hitstun. If you break someone's stamina, you just get to beat on them.
In YBA, this mechanic is Stand barrage typically, with a few exeptions (Six Pistol's Improved Dashes). If someone overuses their defensive mechanic, they get hard punished (DBX has stamina break, Stand Barrage deals huge damage, and can only be stopped by another Stand Barrage or something of the sort.)
In AUT, if you fail to block or dodge, you get beaten on...and if you don't get some sort of frame perfect dodge, sometimes the combo even gets looped...no one likes that.
There’s an amazing game called “World Of Stands”
It’s currently shut down (although it was openly tested a few days ago)
It has:
A storyline
A level system
AMAZING CUTSCENES
No jacksh*t Arrow percentage
Skins aren’t ridiculously rare
Things that AUT could do to literally easily obliterate YBA’s player count:
Dungeons and more gamemodes
Events and a storyline
Exclusive stands and specs for the storyline
Multiple storylines (each part) OR a linked massive storyline

As a YBA main, when I started playing AUT I was really confused at how easy the combo making was. I mean using YBA hard combo tactics that do a tiny amount of damage absolutely shreds peoples hp in AUT. I was disappointed in the stun on the M1s and got bored of it really quick
M1s doing stuns is literally the nor of any pvp game.
I personally think YBA have no stun on m1s is horrible, the only reason Uzu even removed stun from m1s is cus man was too lazy to balance dmg and moves.
Also YBA combos aren't rly hard, it's literally just use moves while in AUT it's, use moves + m1.

aut players was 120k+ after nu, but after information about "stolen assets from YBA", aut now has a 5k-10k.
Eclipse puts up some rather great points, but simplified, yba has progression that is rewarding, and no matter which stand you have, you can kill another, its gonna take usage of your brain to really think, "Is it worth getting this skill?" in yba the combat system is just so harshly diverse! Meanwhile aut is just a copy paste of the average jojo game but "better" just because of its graphics?

when I played aut for the first time, I thought it was very strange and bad that the stands already came to their full potential.
new aut messed up hard by basically deleting most of what the game was, get a stand then go on a journey (normally either killing a boss, trading and waiting for it to spawn) and then using the stand. its like how stw was something that took time to get but now its just a chance from a normal arrow

I like YBA for the diversity in builds. Like sure there's the meta, but then there's obscure stuff that's busted together that nobody plays or knows how to fight against. In AUT the stand you get is the stand you get and that's it.

Yba is way more developed than aut but since yba has been having a big lack of updates and new content, a lot of players would rather play aut which is a game that regularly gets updated. I still think yba is the best roblox jojo game tho

The reason I play YBA more nowadays is that AUT isn't as wacky and fun as it used to be. Most of the moves I liked didn't even get a balance or nerf, just a straight removal or replaced with something completely different that what they once were. I liked the fact that some stands had a stronger stand jump than others, and that nearly every stand or spec had a traversal move. I dislike the fact that most "rare" or hard to get stands were revoked from every player that obtained the original just to be replaced with a better looking, worse functioning version of what it once was.

YBA is winning because its JJBA, its based on one thing instead of 60 different topics. YBA also has less lag, and is genuinely sometimes more enjoyable. AUT has better stand attacks and animations, but is too leggy, and you can't even play AUT on mobile due to the fact that that the new map is too massive and leggy along with the graphics.

Playing with stands on aut feels real basic compared to yba, like the lack of customisation (picking whether you want a move or not and being able to change your keybinds), another thing I like alot is specs cause depending on the spec you pick it can change ur playstyle. Also in my opinion stands feel better in yba. (Mb for waffling)

In YBA you can change your keybinds, block doesn't have a cooldown, and it feels much more smoother.
Man I always log in to yba to just have a fun FFA with random players, sometimes getting ganged , getting others ganged , find new friends, be toxic , not be toxic. U get the idea, yba is probably not dead cause of this, it's the only reason why it's not boring.
i feel like if aut added social elements, such as dungeons mentioned in the polls, 2v2s, gangs, sbr, etc. it'll have a massive boost in their playercount, and if they make the main game map actually playable on low-end

Bosses are way to strong and ignore stun,npcs can m1 in middle of a barrage (sometimes)and the grinding method is just so bad
If they fix these faults they can regularly update the game with small updates and get the same mediocre fanbase each time.

AUT is less enjoyable than YBA for me, AUT has alot of abilities but once you get the good ones it kind of loses it's replayability value, it has cool animations, but that doesnt overshadow the combat which is pretty bad if you ask me , most abilities overshadow others alot (like how broly overshadows almost every stand ability) and I think that comes down to lack of proper testing, most if not all attacks have so much stun for no reason at all ( which makes it impossible to escape combos), and the grind is pretty alright (like grinding for shinies), but it can get really bad (like grinding for abilities like tusk) . YBA on the otherhand has alot of replayability, and that comes to the spec + stand combinations you can make in the game (for example anubis + pluck), the animations are good but not as good at AUT's, the combat is alot better (considering that you can parry moves, and actually cancel combos that aren't true, unlike aut where you can't escape combos unless you have a broken spec like broly which gets stun for no reason at all) and the grind is more bearable, but it can get boring at times ( like trying to grind for a skins ).

190-220 stands and specs when combined (220 if we included basic specless stands on their own)
This just tells me how wide your choose pool is with YBA if you want to use something else
My YBA playtime is definitely up there because of the shiny grinding, and it's understandable that it's dumb to shiny farm. But honestly, shiny farming is an excuse for me as someone who's done almost everything I can in the game to keep on playing sbr, to have fun times and etc with my friends. If no one remembers, there was a game called Stand Upwrite, and it had skill trees and unique atributes for their stands, the game was also provided with levels, dungeons, along with depth of development. Stand upwrite was very successful due to the fact that your attribute determined your winning or losing. Most people would think that this is a bad thing, but with these unfair power scales, the game shifts from just fighting mindlessly to a more rpg-like and social game. People would log on to chat with friends and do missions, so the thing AUT should be aiming for is something that includes more RPG ASPECTS and a way to make the game more SOCIAL. Roblox players love social games, and some of the top games are games where you basically just chat with a few twists. This, along with stands and abilities could make for a great game that could 100% beat YBA.
I remember playing Stand Upright and it was pretty similar to YBA, but in a different manner. The one thing I didn’t like about the game was the fact that there was the characteristic factor when getting a stand (ex: Divine, Permistic, Brave). Sure, you could get the stand you wanted, but chances are that it’s much weaker than the same stand, but with the rarer characteristic. This made the game a bit unbalanced as this meant that only players that have the same kind of characteristic could only compete with each other, leaving weaker players out of the question to even fight them as they’d get RK’d for who knows how long. Other than that, I enjoyed the game and had a great time with it.

I think the sad fact of the matter is here is what we're left with.
We have a good game with a developer who is resting on his laurels knowing full well there are problems and money will keep flowing even if he doesnt fix them, moderators and staff who treat their community like shit and cant manage at all.
Then we have a pretty mediocre jojo game with developers who give a shit (albiet have a bad track record if the stolen asset fiasco is anything to go by), actually want to improve the game, and know that money will only keep flowing if they continue to improve.
It honestly feels like the only way yba is gonna get any proper improvement is if a new developer picks it up and actually starts trying because uzu obviously doesnt feel the need to. (which he is a kid and is in school so its not like he doesnt have real life responsibilities, all the more reason to get another developer to handle more consistent updates)
Personally I disagree on AUT being mediocre. It's certainly better than a lot of other Jojo games out there, and the combat is pretty alright. Bugs are fixed pretty consistently, so I wouldn't personally call the game mediocre.
That said, I do agree. Even if AUT was mediocre, I'd take it any day over a good game with a bad community and lazy devs. While most people say you should separate the art from the artist, in the case of the developers, knowing the passion they feel (or lack thereof) really makes a difference on the gaming experience.

In yba, you can get so creative with the builds and do what you want, so with specless included, every new stand is multiplied by 6, not to mention skill trees. And, if you experiment with it, you can find a brand new build that's super powerful, and have fun with it. This is proven by my experience with top players. I've fought 3 top players in total, and 2 of them had creative builds that I never even thought of and combo in amazing ways. One had cmoon pluck, and the other had Hermit pluck, and while those sound like ba dideas on paper, they made amazing combos that work incredibly well. That's why yba has more players, the freedom of being able to be creative with your build is what makes yba so cool.
P.s. the cmoon pluck user used that cause he could pilot right after crescent slash and confirm uppercut, creating an infinite, and the pluck Hermit would use grapple and use pierce strike while grappling to confirm vine trap. If that isn't proof you can experiment with builds what is?
We currently have 38 solo stands and 5 specs in YBA, they can also be combined uniquely depending on your choices or how you want a meta or casual spec + stand combination
Also, you can make up to 190 stand+spec combinations in total (if we include the basic no-spec-non-combined stand like they're just their own, then we'd have like 228 stands in total) while also being able to shift and adjust/modify your build and how you want to make the combination work, which moves you want to sacrifice to make one better, YBA has a HUGE field of what you want to use specifically than just one solo stand like most jojo games
One of my biggest issues is that YBA actually gives you a reason to get hard to get stands like TWOH because they’re actually strong, but in aut all the end tier stands either suck a lot or are stupidly overpowered while pretty much every arrow and easy to get stand is busted
If I’m correct, I believe a while ago AUT was considering a storymode or something similar to YBA so that there was something to do. I think they added this skin system and what not to being a way to be rewarded for completing story quests
Personally like aut more than yba for my own reason but I have to admit yba is currently winning even if this never was a contest. Still don't know what people are doing in yba

I loved YBA until I played AUT, and then I didn't touch YBA for at least a month, but my issue is one mentioned in the video. I don't have an interest in the "rare" stands that take grinding to do, besides mabye 2 of them. Once I got all the stands/specs I wanted in AUT, and exhausted using them all, I had no need to go back. But I have since then played another alt account on YBA to max prestige again, just to have new builds. The longevity of customisation and prestiges definitely beats the longevity in getting the 6 stands you want and calling it a day.
This is a really interesting analysis, and I think that both games have hurt their player count in different ways. AUT's main thing was the new universe update that made things reasonable to get as opposed to the old universe that was winning over YBA because you had to sit in a private server for hours and hours on end to get the things you want like it pretty much is with skins in YBA. YBA's main thing (my opinion, after the update hype dies down) is gonna be the addition of trading given that if someone was grinding for star platinum and they got whitesnake 3 times, they wouldn't have to lose faith in the RNG gods and roka it since they can now just go and trade it for the other stand they wanted as opposed to how things worked before christmas.
My thoughts exactly. AUT's "New Universe" update kinda broke the game in multiple ways, and instead of rewarding grinding and patience, you could go get Star Platinum and suddenly you can fight any stand with a bit of practice. YBA, while VERY similar to this *cough* Aeroshit *cough,* still rewards the committed and the determined who want to get stands like Made in Heaven and The World: Over Heaven, which take a long time to get (excluding trading for them).
For me it might because of the whole "new universe" thing, the upgraid is great, but after the new universe came out most of the the stand/character that we farm for have been erase, even tho its ok for those who's new but it totally not for me
All of the things the made the game fun like Casey, Zenith, Hermit purple and the meme stands like Made in Walmart, Sprite Cranberry, etc. All those things together made the game fun and they ripped it away from us by turning the game heavily based on pvp with most stands being broken, pvp, the whole thing they're going for, isnt fun (LIKE NOCTURNUS DOES INF STUN BECAUSE OF BLEED AND DOES A RIDICULUES AMOUNT OF DAMAGE, or how p//s hasn't gotten a single update but we've had 4 new specs and skins for p//s)
Moral of the story, they turned aut into something the community didnt want, pve into pvp. RIP 90% of the stands that made the game fun
with the "jojo hurts yba" thing, instead of maybe adding canon stands with their canon movesets, they could add less popular canon stands with unique movesets like they did with anubis, or more requiem stands so that they'll have more freedom, the only problem with this is that it takes time to implement, which the yba devs hate.
They dod that with RHCP and nobody uses it. Just stick to making popular ones so they get some use

I prefer yba for the combat system, the movements system, sbr, cosmetics (i know it sounds stupid but it's another reason to play sbr for example) the customisation of your moves, the storyline and the well made npcs. I played a lot of aut when it came out but after grinding some stands i obviously lost interest. And that's a shame because yba has problems that hardly ruin the game (cheaters, bugs, toxic people) and devs aren't even thinking to do something. If yba had the actual aut devs it would be the perfect jojo game.

My opinion on why most people (including me) choose to play YBA and not AUT
-The combat sytem of YBA is really good. You dont get punished for other people landing m1s on you
-More stand options
-More customizations. For example using X stand with X Specs
-Trying to find really good combos with different specs and stands
-Teams gamemode, Solo game modes
- Hard Challenges like getting corpse parts
- Trying to wipe sbr servers with X Stand and specs
- Team wiping people with friends
- A storyline that you have to finish
- Forming teams in main game to eliminate the server
-Skin system (even tho its bad cuz its based on luckiness, people still like it cause they can flex their stand skins)
-Even tho it updates years later the updates are HUGE.

This is a huge double edged sword as there's no longer a trading economy and really no reason to collect shinies since they're mostly worth the same, also the purpose of shinies is to be rare. I think it really just boils down to YBA being like a Triple A game, while AUT is more like an indie game. One tries to appeal to the people while the other tries to get the most out of their audience. One is objectively better in some regards, but the other is made to make a profit and they succeed.

Ima be honest with you guys, the reason why yba is so good or lasting right now, because it has more content or things to do than aut, like grinding levels, making builds with specs, fighting people, all this has it going for yba, aut has none of this besides fighting people and even then its not that much fun because yba keeps it random, as in you can see a the hand pluck and it somehow works, its the randomness that yba has that you dont know what you are to expect next, maybe some stands like twoh are presictable because they always run boxing because hamon or pluck doesnt work to well with twoh. But my point still stands, aut does have its good stuff, like graphics specs/stands, good effects, new ways to grind, decent ish bossfights(tho need to work better because they have no stun) and bigger map, but it lacks any early content besides auto grinding stands like stories or level grinding or skill tree making,( i love skill trees and yba nailed it with not being able to unlock everything) as well as every stand is almost different on how there moves work, what yba doesnt have going for it is animation which is lame, every single rage/awakening uses the same animation, and rage bars yell the same RAAAAA, atleast they got voicelines back, anyways, i feel like they both have there ups and down but yba has more going for it

Honestly, even know AUT has “unique” stands, they kinda feel like carbon copies of each other.
They either do something like TS, Have generally SP or TW strength or just are a LITERAL copy of SP or TW with just an edgy design.
I think YBA is a lot more fun because the abilities are actually different from each other- and although there is cheese stands, there’s a much less drastic difference between what’s trash and what’s good, It’s the opposite for AUT.
I feel even if a stand is trash in YBA you can still make the most of it, and if you’re skilled, slap top tier stands.

I would say either reduce the stun time in aut or add a new mechanic where you can only string a combo for sometime before the opponent is flung away. Also add some way to counter stuns or avoid it like increase s in dodges or have some moves that can be used while stunned but they go on cooldown for a longer time
they should add a universal combo breaker that stuns both players and uses all your block stamina

In my opinion its because AUT'S MAP CANT LOAD OUR POTATO PC'S
Simple. Aut is a mainly fighting game that appeals to competitive players, and it’s hard to learn. And yba is also a fighting game, but it also focuses on other things. Yba has good socializing, good fighting mechanics, and it’s sort of addicting. Aut just has more cons. But still, yba has its downs, I feel like it’s just the fact that it brings in more players and add that factor onto it’s good factors, is your answer.
To me, it's just because AUT’s combat feels so floaty, and clunky. Attacks while having stun, have little to no oomph and combat is such a slog.
You described it perfectly, it feels like footsies. To me it's even less satisfying than games like A A with similar combat mechanics because at least the combat there is more responsive and "felt".
