Carlos you're an amazing athlete. I love his empathy towards Novak playing a late night session. Congrats on your big win. Now about Stefanos, I think he has to stay confident but not overconfident as it may come and bite you in the ass. Prepare well and do your best. A loss will not be the worst thin but maybe a loss to Stefanos will help Carlos continue to grow and play better. I love Carlitos and sometimes his English doesn't clearly communicate his intentions.
yeah i think the way he expresses himself here is a little unfortunate, comes across very overconfident. surprising since he doesn't behave like that usually, and it doesnt seem the two have any personal beef. Stefanos always spoke very highly of Carlos and even today in court was sort of tongue in cheek ("he looks forward playing against me") even before Carlos actually said those very words.
I don't think Carlos is a lot better clay court player than Stefanos, but what i do think is that he is the best one at exploring Stefanos weaknesses. He is the best player at making dropshots, one of the best at kick serving to the left wing and that's basically Stefanos biggest weaknesses. Stefanos plays too far behind in order to hit the backhand cleaner and he has difficulties in hitting high balls on the backhand and his slice is not he best either. Carlos forehand has a lot of topsin and can generate a lot of power with his backhand. That is what normally turns into a complete nigthmare for Stefanos playing against Carlos. Carlos has a mental advantage too because of the h2h, but I expect a better perfomance from Stefanos tomorrow, because Stefanos is much more stable with his backhand, comparing with last season, can sometimes put the ball down the line with his backhand, which he could not last season. His serve is way more precise. His slice improved a bit, but not massive changes, and when he is dictating the point with his forehand, he is a very dangerous player. The fact that they started practising more together can also help Stefanos understand how he can hurt Carlos' game. I am rooting for a great battle like the one in the us open in five sets.
Clay used to be Carlos weakest surface at one point according to his coach. maybe it still is despite his success on it. in his own words his favorite is hard court, but i think his improved spot serving has made him more lethal on clay and overall of course. he can still improve, but his mentality is attacking tennis first and foremost
@@z1az285 normally players like zverev, djokovic, sinner, rublev, Medvedev and others can attack Carlos' 2nd serve but Tsitsipas can't because of the kick. He can't attack a high ball with his backhand and so Carlos is most of the time in attack mode.
@@litos1926 Well, kick is one part of it and pace is another. you are correct that stefanos is handicapped a bit but his issue is he stays too far back. against many others he stands in closer and his BH topspin return is not pacy, but deep and kicks up too. however carlos attacks it more often than not and that's why stefanos has to improve his return position plus improve his drive BH even more (it's better this year than last year, but not enough). carlos second serve has a lot of pace on it now, plus spin so even others don't find it easy to deal with

It won't be easy to beat Tsitsipas. His serve is more consistent than Alcaraz. He added a good drop shot and down the line back hand to his weaponry. Down the line back hand will trouble Carlos. Overall, he is a much more precise clay court player now. Carlos is in for a surprise....
carlito is legit playing at 50% of his ability, if tsitsipas ain t beating him now he never will. Like legit tsitsipas is at like 90% compared to carlito s 50%
Let's be honest Carlos hasn't had to play with more of his ability I don't think you should come to a Grand slam playing 100% You should work your way in I think he's done what he needed to do to win but there's no ways to win. What bums me out is he's on the same side as Sinner. I think it could tire either out when they face Novak which benefits him.
What a BS. Alcaraz is at 80-90%, Sinner maybe it's a 70% because his injury was more serious and recent. And tsitsipas is at his 100%. Said so, in my opinion Alcaraz will prevail
The cakewalk of all draws is Jannik’s. He hasn’t played anyone worth noting. Alcaraz is not playing at full tilt. And good on him for conserving his energy. Alcaraz has not hit his ceiling. Not even close. This is clay. It’s his most natural surface.
The thing that is mainly missing in many spanish tennis players is professionalism. E.g., nadal - ‘I don’t like hard courts’ , Alcaraz - ‘I don’t like night session’
